After December agreement of 2017 it will be interesting to see how our govt paint what happens as a "win"

Won't want to frighten the DUP again in any statements...

They'll come out all glum and say they took one for the team, just to get the deal over the line. Then walk back into government buildings from whence will come the faint sounds of howls of laughter after the door is closed.

Awh will you ever relax. Of course we are aware, perhaps not aware of every word that will be said over the next few hours but the EU have said numerous times this week that Dublin must approve.

This is it essentially, a key part will be keeping stum in order to allow the DUP/hardliners claim a win without anyone pointing out the substantive issues haven’t changed. Very difficult for Tories to vote against the deal on the basis of the backstop if DUPvote for it.

Timing is hardly coincidence, announcement tonight - all our senior politicians will be in the air tomorrow so will be able to avoid pointing out the obvious before the vote

I'm so relaxed, I'm horizontal. That would be an even bigger stab in the back - pointing the finger at Ireland and saying sorry but Dublin vetoed our declaration.

So if leaks are to be believed, the WA which Leo, simon and the gang said would not be reopened, has been reopened and a new bit on arbitration added? And the Brits have seen enough that Coxy can stand up in HoC and say on behalf of the queen that the Brits can leave the Deal if they want?

They'd deserve it. At least the Tories are following what the majority of their electorate wanted. The DUP aren't.

Arbitration was already there as far as I know? They’ve just provided more detail on how it will operate

To reopen the deal would literally require every member state to convene and agree firstly to reopen and then to start the negotiations again and crucially make further demands of the UK

RTE News specifically said that it has not been reopened.

I would not be a bit surprised that after the DUP finish with the chief whip, and when the cabinet finishes their meeting, there'll be no announcement and May will be on her way home without the support to even declare she has additional declarations.

From what I have heard, the WA has not been reopened, the assurances are to be part of a seperate legally binding document. Being assurances, they don't change the WA, mearly further clarify what the WA means.
