So regarding that ad, some man says that Ireland is on the slippery slope about morals.

And last night on the RTÉ news, talking about the Brexit debacle they said it was going into Father Ted territory....

I can see that man protesting outside House of Fraser. Careful now, keep your knickers in Britain.

Because many people find the show interesting and entertaining I suspect.

Hardly a surprise is it? Even some of those who profess to hate it still listen it seems.

Excellent results for all shows right across the board at Newstalk.

    Yates in particular is booming.

Was I the only one expecting to see much worse with that lingerie item? Seems very harmless to me... You'd see more skin at the beach.

A woman in her knickers in a lingerie shop! Dear god were all going to hell. I've seen nude manikins in shop windows that must be more perverse?

About 10 years ago I was in the pool in the old total fitness gym in coolock. I kissed my wife a few times. An old gentleman started roaring at us. How dare we carry on like this in front of his grandkids. My wife wasn't in a bikini. She was in a modest bathing suit. We were close to 40 at the time. No heavy petting or anything like that. I shudder to think about the complex he was giving his grandkids who in all probability hadn't noticed us till he started shouting.

The world is full of nuts. "prudes" doesn't describe some of these. Some are out & out nuts.

    Slightly OT but slightly relevant.

I was watching a few episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm Series 9 last night. All the time Susie Greene reminded me of someone but I couldn't put my finger on it until an hour ago.

A little NSFW on account of the F word. This is the cleanest clip of Susie I could find.

Just reading the twitter comments from the link above. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a radio show ask so many people to come on air from a tweet before. Smacked a little of desperation IMO.

Delighted for Ciara Kelly and her team. It takes real balls to quit a (fairly) stable job in General Practice and try your hand at a volatile industry like media. Excellent news, and not in the least surprising.

I think the Friday programme is becoming a more civilised version of After Hours. :D

The opening segment was interesting. Men not offering pregnant women a seat. I'm no longer supprised at the self entitled "me" generation. Here's what did supprise me though, every one of these men are there with pregnant wives and girlfriends. Why did their partner not kick them in the foot & tell them to get up? I wouldn't need a kick in this particular circumstance. I can miss social ques myself but my wife wouldn't let me make a total tit of myself. She'd let me know what is expected of me.

On another note Ciara called a male texter "my pet" after giving him a dressing down. He deserved the dressing down but I heard her rare up on an English chap for calling her pet or love. She seems to like one rule for her and one for everyone else.

I'm pretty sure the "pet" was sarcastic and meant as an insult.

What happened when I was pregnant, there was one bench and men (mostly, there coukd be some non pregnant women) would sit with their partner. Everyone would move spot closer to the door so it was sort of a que system. Still no excuse for that kind of behavior.

Any healthy adult male/female who will sit down and leave an obviously pregnant woman to stand is a total piece of sh1t.

Today Ciara Kelly is giving out about the dumbing down of the media - and she works for Newstalk! Ivan Yates, Off the Ball and Moncrief and herself, of course, ...you couldn't make it up. :D

She doesn't even know the correct way to address a government minister. She knows all about dumbing down but she is talking about national broadcasters & their responsibility in fairness

I can’t see what could possibly go wrong with overlooking qualified and trained journalists in favour of appointing unqualified and untrained replacements when vacancies arise in the media.

    Oh, wait....

It’s on very rare occasions that I use public transport these days but the last time I was on the Dart (from Clonsilla to Connolly one morning pre 7:30am) I stood up and was mid-sentence in insisting a pregnant lady took my seat/gesturing to her to do so when a 20something “lady” immersed in her headphones jumped into said seat and proceeded to stare at her phone pretending not to have noticed. I asked her politely to move as I had given up my seat for the pregnant lady, and not her. She pretended not to hear me. I tapped her twice gently on the shoulder to which she removed her headphones and I expained the situation. The young lady proceed to tut loudly, called me a “prlck” and then stormed off to another carriage. Classy.

Not that I asked for it nor am I seeking any praise for it now, but after all this the pregnant lady didn’t say “thanks”. Everyone else just seemed to keep their head down and ignore everything. Won’t stop me offering my seat again but just found the whole thing a bit weird TBH.

Not very professional then, was it? And yes, I’d say this no matter whomsoever the host was and regardless of any provocation.

A former government minister and businessman, a medical dr, the top 3 winners of the sports broadcastor of the year awards and a trinity graduate whose show explores and explains quirky topics each of whose shows are on the first national dedicated talk show station.

Yeah, a lot of dumbing down going on there alright.

    Oh, wait....

What exactly did go wrong? Yates replaced trained journalists and is pulling in much higher numbers than them. His listener-ship is also better than Coopers. Ciara Kelly is doing well again better than trained journalist Jonathan Healy. Different requirements are needed for national broadcasters than they are for commercial providers. And when state broadcaster starts to become preoccupied with Mrs. Brown's boys and lets Sky News or whoever to do news there is a problem. That doesn't mean commercial broadcasters should the job of national broadcaster, that is not their remit. Newstalk has during the day easy going and very easy to listen to presenters.

You see I think people should be told when they are being complete morons. He was complaining is it just men who are singled out for sitting in pregnancy waiting rooms. I have a feeling that there might be something to do with biology but I can't exactly point out what it is. But if you think every opinion is equally valid regardless how moronic it is then she probably wasn't professional.
