(At the risk of jinxing it), is anyone thinking of booking flights to Edinburgh for a potential qf once Edinburgh result known? Just trying to get on reasonably priced flights before airlines jump up the prices.

QFs are set for 29th, 30th and 31st March. Wonder would there be more chance of 2 games on the Saturday and 2 on the Sunday now that it's just the 1 broadcaster?

Extremely tempted. I've friends living in Edinburgh, so it wouldn't be a completely wasted trip if it doesn't materialise... I'd imagine it'd be the Saturday game?

Yeah hopefully will be the Saturday! Missed out on tickets for Scotland v Ireland so I'm fairly tempted to make the trip. Tickets will be grand to get if it's in Murrayfield (which I assume it will be).

Can't look past this weekend obviously, but if we were to get qf and beat Edinburgh away, think it looks likely to be Saracens away Easter weekend. Should see a good bunch of Munster fans at either (or both hopefully) games so.

POM is 50/50 to play on Saturday.

The following are progressing with rehabilitation: Brian Scott (foot), James Cronin (leg), Jack O’Donoghue (knee), Dave O’ Callaghan (foot), JJ Hanrahan (hip).

While it would be great to have POM for the game I think he'll be lucky to make it.

Obviously POM would be a massive loss but otherwise that's a remarkably clean bill of health.

Whilst the popped rib makes him touch and go for the game, if he did play I would imagine Exeter would be aiming to hurt him early and single him out for some attention to make sure he's in pain which could lead to not only losing POM but also using a sub early on.

Hopefully he makes it but I think Munster are well capable of doing the job with someone like Holland, Wycherley or Botha coming in.

I would guess that the Irish coaching team will also be in close contact with Munster this week in relation to POM. If he's not right for the weekend, they'll be pushing for him to be kept out of the team.

8 day turnaround from Gloucester but I imagine they'll hold him back. I'd love to see Wycherley start but I expect it will be Botha or Beirne.

Reading between the lines I'd say it's unlikely POM will play.

I dunno, I'm nervous about this game. It has the potential to be a horrible banana skin.

Same, I think JVG is just saying that for the sake of it. Keep Exeter honest so they have to gameplan for POM and whoever might replace him.

There's certainly no value in ruling him out now.

Yeah think that's the way it will go. I'd be surprised to see him included. If he's not fit enough to start I wouldn't have him on the bench.

I wonder will Schmidt pull rank and order POM not to be risked just like he did with Sexton? Or is that just Leinster players he does that to?

I fully expect POM to feature. They had done everything but publish Chris Farrell's obituary in the Limerick Leader only for him to be named for the Gloucester game.

Chris Farrell isn't nearly as important to the Ireland team and it was clear that he wasn't 100% on Friday.

Is there any proof for this ?

There's no way in a million years Schmidt didn't have an imput into not risking Sexton last Sat IMHO

He was but not as dominant as in previous outings.

Maybe it's just me but he looked slightly off the boil compared to normal.

It had no impact in the end, he was grand.

I posted before the announcement last Monday that Sexton hadn't trained and definitely wasn't going to be fit for the game.

Then Leinster announced he was a doubt and confirmed on the Thursday what I know for a fact was known the weekend before last.

Joe Schmidt had nothing to do with it. Why do you think Ross Byrne didn't start nor come off the bench in the Ulster game? He was being kept for Toulouse.

Apologies. I had read that Sexton could have played last Saturday but that another bang on the calf would have longer term repercussions.

Exeter is do or die, if POM is fit he plays.

No worries at all, he was definitely out - I think any chatter about the extent of it was to hide the fact that he was never playing and Leinster just didn't want to confirm and make life easier for the Toulouse prep team!

I'm thinking Munster will win by 7-10. Having two days more rest than Exeter is a boost.

Can't see it being anything but a comfortable win for Munster....
no way will they let this opportunity slip and we're getting better and more cohesive with every game as Murray and Carberry really start to click.
Exeter will put it up to them for the first 30 mins... but will then be burned off ....the only question is will it be 4 or 5 points to add to the table

A must-win European game at home in the last round against English opposition. Munster just don't lose these games and this Exeter side are not good enough to break the trend.

Assuming POM is out, wonder could we see
    4. Kleyn, 5. Holland, 6. Beirne, 7. Cloete, 8. Stander

Cloetes form hasn't been great and it would be extremely harsh on TOD who has done nothing wrong

But in terms on getting another Jackal expert on the field in place of POM, i think it is something to consider

I forgot Cloete is potentially available. Thanks to injury it's been a rare occasion to have both TOD and Cloete fit.

I think they were both available in the away game at Sandy Park? Cloete was preferred that day, and TOD came back in the following week against Gloucester. Might suggest he's in with a shout of starting? Would be harsh on TOD.

Alternatively, could they name him and leave him go the whole way to the warm up and then say he's a late withdrawal, all the while knowing he was never starting anyway?
