How did you move WhatsApp messages over??

You can back them up to the cloud. Go Settings - Chat - Chat Backup.

WhatsApps backups don't transfer from IPhone to Android. Hence his question.

Really? Seems strange that you couldn't back them up to the cloud and redownload them on a new device?

They each use different clouds. Google Drive storage is not supported on iOS and neither is iCloud on Android, hence inability to transfer across platforms. WhatsApp don't have their own cloud storage service which would be required to share across vendors.

Drive can be used on ios. Its the first step Google recommend for switching to Android. Nothing to do with the WhatsApp situation though.

Google Drive can be used on iPhone. I'm nearly sure we used it when transferring my partner's stuff from iPhone to Android.

You need to extract chatstorage.sqlite file from iPhone backup and then transfer to OnePlus phone. Then download wazzup migrator app to transfer whatsapp data. Don't download whatsapp before as need to be specific version of WhatsApp and after you can update. If you Google wazzup migrator, you will find instructions.

For messages it's same process ie copying the sms db from backup then using isms2droid app.

    All the best!

Sorry, I should have been more specific - the Google Drive APIs that WhatsApp uses on android for their cloud backups are not available on iOS, hence this gap.

It's awesome lads! Not sure if it's any better than a regular 6T but it's fast, love the look of the phone, seems to charge incredibly quickly and the OS is incredible.

The included McLaren case is a full bumper style and feels quality. The packaging is a bit over the top, but as a geek is nice to have the book etc. Everything has a lovely premium feel and the actual phone has a nice premium weight to it.

Here's some pics, hopefully you'll be able to see all the little details.. :)

The UK plug versions must be sold out as they all ship from Poland. Maybe it was a limited release with Q2 2019 coming up..

Was going to buy the Mrs one too but the McLaren would have been the only one she'd have been interested in getting.

The McLaren is just a 6t with extra RAM and fancier packaging. The 6t already has 8gb of RAM which is an insane amount for a phone.

Have swapped out the OnePlus camera app for a port of GCam. Pretty good so far.

Anyone any active referral codes lying about?

    Cheers lads.

The GCam Night Sight is way better than the stock app by the way. Tiny bit buggy.

I’m having a slight problem with some images not displaying properly in certain apps. Not sure if it’s software related or not.

On Instagram if I click on stories the images are oversized so overfill the screen. I’ve had it happen elsewhere but can’t remember where. I could double tap the, to size them properly but on IG stories is you tap an image it just forwards to the next one so that doesn’t work.

Anyone any ideas what may be going on?

pretty normal, this happens with WhatsApp as well.

could be that their apps isn;t up to date / compatible yet with OnePlus

I bought the fast charger with my OnePlus, but haven't been able to replicate it with anything else. What specifically makes it fast over any other charger? I've tried various plugs (5V) and cables.

There are OnePlus chargers on AliExpress for cheaper than buying off OnePlus.

I've been thinking of upgrading from my S8 to the OP6T.

I still really like the S8 and would probably happily keep it longer but unfortunately the battery is dying now on 20-30% regularly which means it's only going to get worse.

Has anyone done a similar upgrade? Recommended? The S8 still feels lightning fast to me 18 months on.

In terms of camera it is a downgrade but apart from that the batteries are almost the same except it charges fast with Dash charge, has no wireless charging and no memory card slot.

try to read / watch reviews in Youtube, I myself prefer OnePlus devices over Samsung

Playing about with the GCam a bit more. Highly recommend using it for portrait mode and night sight as it's a world ahead of the images produced by the stock app.

Still a bit buggy (e.g. slow-mo) not working just yet so can't completely replace the stock app but definitely worth a look.
