Zebo will stay in France for financial reasons imo. He would not make anything close to what he's making now.

I think he made the right decision. He's not assured a 1st team place in the international set up.
As far as replacing RK, I think Addison will be the front runner.

I think there is a bit of out of sight, out of mind when it comes to Zebo.

    Remember this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6JQLnJn3lg

He is such a big game player and and a much better defender than all other options. As well as that he has a great left boot (just like Kearney) and he is tall. Most of our outside backs are fairly small (Earls, Larmour, Conway), so his stature would be useful in the outside backs.

    Stockdale 1.9
    Earls 1.8
    Conway 1.8

Think Zebo is a good bit taller than Earls.

    Zebo is 6ft 3in, Larmour is 5ft 10 in

Conway, Earls and Larmour are all small men. Kearney is 6ft 2 in. Stockdale is 6 ft 3 in.

Surely you have noticed that Stockdale is a lot taller than Larmour, Earls and Conway?

IRFU used to make a point of putting up the wrong stats I believe, but I think these are relatively accurate. Zebo has 4 or 5 inches in height on the rest of the smaller players.

I don't think he realises that 0.1m is 4 inches. His own figures tell him that Zebo and Stockdale are 4 inches taller than the others.

"Out of sight, out of mind"? Zebo? I could deal with hearing and reading a great deal less about him.

You won't see him mentioned in the Ulster thread... but he will get mentioned here alright

A few pics of Cloete and Kleyn messing about at training.... Kleyn's hand bandaged... but he must be in contention if he's rough-housing with Chris

He might be getting a few mentions up in Ulster in the New Year bearing in mind that Racing and Ulster are in the same HCup Group!

Also, the following threads - "French rugby Updates : Le café du Rugby" [obviously, fair enough], "2018-2019 Champions Cup" [as above], "Ireland Team Talk Thread IX: Grand Slam Champions" [post his leaving for France; many times in this last week alone], "World Cup Bolters", "General Rugby Discussion II", "Autumn Internationals Team Announcement/Talk", "Ireland v New Zealand match thread", "Ireland vs Argentina 10/11/18 - This time it's not personal".

To be clear - people are obviously free to talk about who they want on this forum. But don't claim he's "out of mind".

At this stage, I feel like I'm embroiled in some kind of chalk-and-cheese, "unlikely housemates" sitcom with the fecker. And it's in it's twentieth series.

An extra 4 or 5" can make all the difference. Possibly.

Ah look, that was meant facetiously. But ultimately people who visit a rugby forum are going to discuss lots of permutations. (There's currently a discussion on the Ireland thread about the 6th choice hooker). As long as Zebo is playing, in Ireland or otherwise, he's always likely to get a mention.

Yeah, he is/was a fan favourite.

Yerra look I wasn't trying to stir the pot, just saying he's going very well over in France (not all players do when they move) and is a loss to Munster, and by extension, Ireland. Of course we've options in the back three but a fully firing Zebo would be in the conversation. His try scoring rate is hard to argue against, very impressive. Horgan on 40 and Wally on 41 were longtime leaders... til he blitzed 60 tries in 8 seasons. (CJ just broke into the Top 10 over the weekend on 33 incidentally).

Whoever it was said he was in poor form before he left was dead right, worst bout of form in his time in a Munster jersey. That happens. Look at Healy and Kearney who've had form woes for various reasons. He looks rejuvenated over there, good to see.

nervous about the game Sat. Its going too be really really tough and we need to get something from this game esp with Glouchester having a much stronger team vs Exeter tomorrow night and have a great chance of getting the BP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭jmn51927

    Team for the weekend:
    Killer Scannell Ryan
    Beirne Holland
    POM Cloete CJ
Murray Carberry(if fit) Scannell Arnold Earls Conway Haley

KOB Loughman Archer Kleyn (if fit) Botha Matthewson JJ Taute

For me Ryan has to start, scrum dominance will be huge. Kleyn off the bench will add the umph to push through the last 25 to secure the win. Not sure about #23 would prefer a bit better cover don’t know what stars Jaco is in as of yet

Munster: Mike Haley; Andrew Conway, Sammy Arnold, Rory Scannell, Keith Earls; Joey Carbery, Conor Murray; Dave Kilcoyne, Niall Scannell, John Ryan; Tadhg Beirne, Billy Holland; Peter O’Mahony (C), Chris Cloete, CJ Stander.

Replacements: Kevin O’Byrne, Jeremy Loughman, Stephen Archer, Fineen Wycherley, Arno Botha, Alby Mathewson, JJ Hanrahan, Jaco Taute.

I was confident enough during the week but as matchday gets closer not so sure. Hopefully with a good start and better scrum and with Carbery back we will be able to control the game from the outset. Don't think we will draw 2 seasons in a row but saw odds of 19/1 there. Seems a bit generous.

I expect an easy win tbh, 15+ points

Handicap is 3. If it's more than a 7/10 point margin I'd be surprised
