    ‘Grimm’ Spinoff

‘Grimm’ Spinoff With A Female Lead In Works At NBC
Grimm is eying a comeback. NBC is developing a spinoff from the supernatural series, which bowed out last year after six seasons. Like the original, the offshoot hails from Universal TV and Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s studio-based Hazy Mills Prods.

Written by Melissa Glenn (Marvel’s Iron Fist), the untitled spinoff, I hear, will center on a female Grimm. Per NBC, building off the mythology of the original series, the new show will feature returning fan favorites while also introducing new characters, new dangers and epic new mysteries. I hear no actors are currently attached but the idea is for the offshoot to feature some original cast members, regular or recurring.

Glenn executive produces with Hazy Mills’ Hayes and Milliner. Grimm co-creators/showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf will serve as consulting producers.

The original series followed Portland Homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who discovered he is a Grimm, the latest in a line of guardians who are sworn to keep the balance between humanity and mythological creatures. Giuntoli and Russell Hornsby, who played his partner, both are starring on new series this season, ABC’s A Million Little Things and Fox’s Proven Innocent, respectively.

Grimm was a little engine that could, an under-the-radar show that became a breakout during the 2011-2012 season despite airing on Fridays. Throughout its six-season run, Grimm remained one of Friday’s highest-rated scripted series. It also is owned by NBC and did well internationally for NBCUniversal, which may factor favorably into the network’s decision to proceed with a spinoff.

Possible Superman tv series incoming with Tyler Hoechin. Though not sure what they plan on doing for it since they're already doing a lot of his stories in Supergirl.

How many times does Superman have to be redone? Surely DC don't have to roll him out again.

With no more Superman in the DCEU due to Cavill leaving, Warner Brothers could be focusing on this version.

It doesn't make sense though to make a show especially with Batwoman supposed to be the next show to be released. And the only way it would work is for it to be set before Supergirl.

I'd prefer a Batman TV show to focus on Batman as "The World's Greatest Detective" rather than another Superman show, Lois & Clark and Smallville aren't finished that long and there's been 3 different Superman actors in my lifetime, that's 5 different actors to play 1 character before going into other actors like yerman in Supergirl.

There was definitely never a better time to develop The Boys, considering we're now drowning in super-heroes across every possible medium.

For anyone not in the know, it's basically a graphic novel about a human-led team that keep misbehaving superheroes in check....and it's violent as hell.

The Preacher adaptation is pretty lackluster but alright in its own way...but The Boys is actually a lot more straight forward and with less potentially controversial elements so hopefully it'll be a bit more closely related to the material.
Preacher adaptation was crap alright. The Boys adaptation will also be watered down. The bits I remember the most clearly from the comic - there's no way they're putting them on the tv screen.

IGN reporting it as one more season (season 2) split in 2 (10 episodes each) with the second half of Season 1 (10 episodes in 2019). 30 episodes total over the next 3 years but only 2 seasons (40 episodes in total).

3 more years of the show with the seasons split across the years.

I assume it has to do with contract negotiations but why the hell do American not just call these things separate seasons?

Whatever about taking three months off for mid season and pretending to still be the same season but things like Breaking bad where there was a full year between season 5a and season 5b is a bit of a joke.
Same thing happened with the final seasons of the Sopranos and Mad Men.

Untitled morning show drama From Apple.

Steve Carell To Star In Apple’s Morning Show Series With Reese Witherspoon & Jennifer Aniston
Steve Carell has been tapped as a male lead opposite Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston in Apple’s untitled morning show drama series. It makes his first TV series role since his Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe-winning turn on NBC’s The Office.

Written by Kerry Ehrin based on an original idea by Media Res’ Michael Ellenberg and directed by Mimi Leder, the yet untitled series provides an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual.

Carell will play Mitch Kessler, a morning show anchor who is struggling to maintain relevance in a changing media landscape. This is a familiar territory for Carell who played local TV weatherman Brick Tamland in the Anchorman feature comedy franchise and news anchor Evan Baxter in Bruce Almighty.

Ehrin, who serves as showrunner, and Leder executive produce alongside Aniston and Kristin Hahn through Echo Films; Witherspoon and Lauren Levy Neustadter through Hello Sunshine; and Ellenberg through Media Res, which serves as the studio. Brian Stelter consults on the project, with his book Top of the Morning providing additional background material. Filming is slated to begin next week in Los Angeles.

Ah seriously? This one stings... One of the best comedies going. On the bright side at least each season wraps everything up nicely, so it has a proper ending so to speak. It's definitely worth watching if anyone hasn't seen it before.

The first of the 1 million or so GoT's spin offs has been picked up by HBO.

‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel: HBO Picks Up George R.R. Martin and Jane Goldman Pilot, Reveals First Plot Details

    http://www.indiewire.com/2018/06/game-of-thrones-prequel-hbo-pilot-george-rr-martin-jane-goldman-age-of-heroes-1201972764/

‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel Casts Naomi Watts in Lead Role
The exact details of Watts’ character are being kept under wraps, but it is known she is playing “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.”

Taking place thousands of years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” Goldman’s project chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend–it’s not the story we think we know.

Goldman co-created the project with George R.R. Martin, whose “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel series serves as the basis for “Game of Thrones.” Goldman and Martin wrote the story, with Goldman writing the teleplay. She will also serve as showrunner. She and Martin will executive produce along with Daniel Zelman, James Farrell, Jim Danger Gray, and “Game of Thrones” executive producer Vince Gerardis. Chris Symes will co-executive produce.

Goldman’s series is one of five “Game of Thrones” projects that has been in the works at HBO. The exact nature of the plot of each project has been kept under tight wraps, though Martin has previously made clear that each project is a prequel rather than a spinoff and that none of the current main cast of the series will be involved. He has also ruled out fan theories that any of them will focus on his characters Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon the Unlikely, or Dunk and Egg as they are popularly known. He has also said that Robert’s Rebellion will not be the subject of any of the prequels.

    Strangers

‘Strangers’ Drama Based On Dean Koontz Book In Works At Fox From Jeff Davis & Josh Berman
Fox has given a script commitment plus penalty to Strangers, a one-hour drama based on the bestselling book by Dean Koontz, from Teen Wolf and Criminal Minds creator Jeff Davis, Drop Dead Diva creator alum Josh Berman and Sony Pictures TV, where Berman and his Osprey Productions are under a deal.

Written by Davis, based on Koontz’s book, Strangers tells the story of several different people, thousands of miles apart, from different walks of life, finding themselves struck by unusual fears and sudden phobias. A novelist in California suffers unbearable sleep terrors. In Boston, a surgeon’s intense panic attacks threaten her career. A priest in Chicago dreads the rise of the moon. An ex-Marine develops a paralyzing fear of the dark. They’re all connected by a forgotten trauma, repressed memories now surfacing and leading each of them to one destination: a small motel in Nevada where a dark secret lies hidden–one that could change the course of humanity itself.

    Rendlesham

Laurence Fishburne To Star In & Exec Produce Sony Pictures Television’s UFO Drama ‘Rendlesham’
The series, which is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television and Eleventh Hour Films, the UK indie that the Hollywood studio owns a stake in, is an eight-part drama is inspired by a “real-life” UFO incident, which took place at a US air base close to the village of Rendlesham, Suffolk in 1980.

Several people in the village’s small forest including a number of air force servicemen claimed to witness a glowing object in the sky before it flew off into the trees. The sighting was recorded by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt in an official report that was made public in 1983 but was subsequently rubbished by other officers, leading to many conspiracy theories.

Written by Doctor Who director and Da Vinci’s Demons writer Joe Ahearne, the series, which will revolve around a family in the area, is played out against the Cold War. It will feature dual timelines, one during the time of the sightings in 1980 and one in 2020, the anniversary of the event.

Fishburne plays the lead role of Tyrone, a retired American airman previously stationed at the infamous US air base during the height of the Cold War. Alongside wife Carol and son Brock, Tyrone returns for the first time to visit Carol’s dying father and is forced to face events that have haunted him his whole life.

Fishburne will executive produce alongside his Cinema Gypsy Productions and producing partner Helen Sugland. Eve Gutierrez and Jill Green will serve as executive producers alongside Ahearne. SPT will handle distribution internationally.

“I’m beyond thrilled this phenomenal and iconic actor will be leading Rendlesham as Tyrone and facing down one of the most notorious UFO mysteries in history,” said Ahearne.
