Kaley Cuoco has found her first gig after “The Big Bang Theory” and it’s significantly less family-friendly than the beloved sitcom. She’s been tapped to voice DC and Warner Bros. Harley Quinn in a new animated TV series.

During a New York Comic Con event for the new streaming service DC Universe, it was announced that the 32-year-old would voice the iconic comic book character in a new adult animated series. In addition to starring, Cuoco will also be the executive producer of the show by way of her Yes, Norman Productions company.

TNT has given a straight-to-series order to Ridley Scott’s (The Martian, Blade Runner) Raised By Wolves, a serialized sci-fi series, with Scott set to direct in his TV helming debut, from Scott’s Scott Free Productions, Turner’s Studio T and Madhouse Entertainment. Aaron Guzikowski, the visionary behind the acclaimed film Prisoners, will serve as showrunner as well as a writer.

Raised by Wolves centers upon two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.

Scott, Guzikowski, David W. Zucker (The Man in the High Castle) and Jordan Sheehan (The Terror), and Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner (Prisoners) and Robyn Meisinger (Prisoners) serve as executive producers. Scott Free produces in association with Turner’s Studio T and Madhouse Entertainment. Turner International will distribute the series internationally.

Jessica Biel To Star In ‘Limetown’ Facebook TV Series Based On Podcast

Facebook Watch has given a 10-episode order to another series with a big-name female star set as the lead. The streaming platform has picked up Limetown, starring and executive produced by Jessica Biel. The series, based on the popular podcast of the same name, hails from Endeavor Content and Midnight Radio.

Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, creators of the Limetown podcast, will write the adaptation, which follows Lia Haddock (Biel), a journalist for American Public Radio (APR), as she unravels the mystery behind the disappearance of over 300 people at a neuroscience research facility in Tennessee.

Secret Six

DC Comics’ ‘Secret Six’ in Development as Drama Series at CBS With Production Commitment

CBS is developing a drama series based on the DC Comics property “Secret Six,” Variety has learned.

The project, which has received a pilot production commitment at the network, follows six morally ambiguous strangers, each with their own unique specialties and secret pasts. They are brought together by an enigmatic figure who blackmails them into working as a team to expose the corruption of the corporate and political elite.

Various DC Comics characters have been members of the Secret Six over the years, including Bane, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, the Mad Hatter, and the Penguin. There is no word yet, however, on which characters would appear in the series.

Rick Muirragui will write and executive produce, with Bill Lawrence and Jeff Ingold executive producing via Doozer Productions. Warner Bros. Television, where Doozer is under an overall deal, will produce.

Muirragui most recently worked as a co-executive producer and writer on USA Network’s hit drama “Suits.” His previous credits also include “Men of a Certain Age,” “The Good Guys,” “Charmed,” and “Past Life.” He is repped by UTA and Hansen Jacobson.

Lawrence is best known for creating the hit comedy series “Scrubs.” He also recently worked with CBS to develop “Rush Hour” as a series starring Justin Hires and Jon Foo. His other credits include “Spin City,” “Cougar Town,” and “Undateable.” Lawrence and Doozer Productions are repped by ICM and Morris Yorn.

DC has enjoyed a robust TV business in recent years, with five DC shows currently airing on The CW. That includes “Supergirl,” which originally aired on CBS. “Gotham” is also prepping its last season on Fox, while Syfy airs the Superman prequel series “Krypton.” DC also launched the streaming service DC Universe in September, with its first live-action offering “Titans” set to launch on Oct. 12.

Wu-Tang Drama Series Ordered By Hulu From The RZA, Alex Tse & Imagine TV

The story of one of the greatest rap groups is coming to television. Hulu has given a straight-to-series order to Wu-Tang: An American Saga, a 10-episode drama from Wu-Tang Clan front man The RZA, writer Alex Tse (Superfly) and Imagine Television.

Created and written by The RZA and Tse, the series is based on the Wu-Tang Clan, one of the most influential groups in hip-hop history, and will explore and expand the band’s world.

Set in early ’90s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, the show tracks the Clan’s formation, a vision of Bobby Diggs aka The RZA, who strives to unite a dozen young, black men that are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.

Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo will executive produce with Tse and Wu-Tang Clan members The RZA and Method Man. Fellow Wu-Tang Clan members Ghostface Killa, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa and GZA as well as the Estate of Ol’ Dirty Bastard, will serve as consulting producers. James Seidman will oversee the project for Imagine.

“I’ve been a fan of Wu-Tang since the mid-90’s and recognized quickly how significant Wu-Tang and The RZA were to the world of hip-hop music and culture. Over the years I’ve gotten to know RZA and it’s clear that he is the soul and storyteller of Wu-Tang,” Grazer said. “Working with RZA and Alex Tse on this series has been a highlight of my career and Hulu is the perfect partner to bring this story to a global audience.”

Wu-Tang: An American Saga marks the first series order for Imagine since it became an independent production company/studio. It also marks Imagine’s second project at Hulu following another music-themed collaboration, the Emmy and Grammy Award winning documentary, The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years.

I tried to give the second season a go after not watching the first. Found all the other Marvel Netflix shows quite good, but Iron Fist was just awful... couldn't even make it through the first episode of season 2 - what's the deal with the cheesy sound effects also? I don't think I noticed it on other shows?

The second season was much better than the first. It still wasn't great, but the first season was just so shite. The fights were actually alright. Hard to get people to tune back in after a dismal first season and a poor follow up in Defenders though.

The entire marvel Netflix universe might be on the wind down anyway. I don't think Marvel/Disney are releasing them any new characters because Disney have their own nascent streaming service they'll be creating content for. Which is a problem when you're looking for villains for them to fight.
How many more times can they go to the Hand or Kingpin for a villain?

‘Dracula’ Mini-Series From ‘Sherlock’ Duo Coming to Netflix, BBC One

Three feature-length installments will re-introduce the world to “the vampire who made evil sexy”

BBC One and Netflix have staked a new project from “Sherlock” creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. The UK-based network and streamer have ordered “Dracula,” a TV adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic novel.

The three-part 90-minute mini-series is written, executive produced and created by Moffat and Gatiss, and will re-introduce the world to Dracula, the vampire who made evil sexy. Per Netflix, “In Transylvania in 1897, the blood drinking Count is drawing his plans against Victorian London. And be warned: the dead travel fast.”

“There have always been stories about great evil,” Moffat and Gatiss said. “What’s special about ‘Dracula,’ is that Bram Stoker gave evil its own hero.”

The series was commissioned by Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content and Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama. Moffat and Gatiss executive produce alongside Sue Vertue for Hartswood Films, Ben Irving for BBC and Larry Tanz for Netflix.

“Dracula” will premiere on BBC One in the UK and launch on Netflix elsewhere, and China, where the service is not available. The mini-series hails from Hartswood Films and is a co-production between BBC One and Netflix

Batman Prequel ‘Pennyworth’ From ‘Gotham’ Duo Gets Series Order At Epix

MGM-owned Epix has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order to Pennyworth, a Batman prequel from Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller, executive producer/director Danny Cannon and Warner Horizon Scripted TV.

Written by Heller, based on DC characters created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, Pennyworth follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne, Bruce’s billionaire father, in 1960’s London. Production will begin later this year, with a series premiere slated for 2019.

Heller and Cannon executive produce and Cannon will direct the pilot.

“As genuine fans of these classic DC characters, as well as the incredibly talented Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, we couldn’t be more excited to make Epix the home of this series,” said Michael Wright, President, Epix. “We can’t wait to work with Bruno and Danny – along with Peter Roth, Susan Rovner, Brett Paul and the team at Warner Horizon – on this fantastic origin story.”

Jack Bannon to Star as Alfred

“Gotham” boss Bruno Heller has found his butler. Jack Bannon has been cast in the titular leading role in “Pennyworth,” Epix’s upcoming Batman prequel series.

The 10-episode, one-hour drama series will follow Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth, a former British Sas soldier in his 20s, who forms a security company and goes to work with a young billionaire Thomas Wayne, who’s not yet Bruce’s father, in 1960s London.

Per the official character description, “Alfred Pennyworth is a boyishly handsome, cheerful, charming, clever young man from London. Honest, open-faced and witty; you’d never take him for an Sas killer. Alfred doesn’t know how to reconcile the kind-hearted boy he used to be with the cold, calculated killer he was forced to become. He’s a man on the make, who doesn’t know what to make of himself yet.”
