Because the money is to cover their food and bills. Not to be drank, smoked, snorted or given over to Paddy Power.

Not everyone does that you know, don't brand everyone with the same brush.

Then their lifestyle wouldn't change one iota with the introduction of a smart card.

So whats your issue with it?

I've got first hand experience of walking past enough that do though.
Dole day meant long queues in the offlicences in Ballymun when I lived there.

How would one create a CV on a smartphone? Does the E30 smartphone come with just MS WORD, or the full MS suite??

Word Mobile is a free cloud based solution that will facilitate doing up a good cv. If that is too difficult to use for someone, maybe anything that involves IT is not for them.

Cake is a luxury, don't you know if the state is giving you money you should only consume gruel and water. Certain posters here want those on welfare to be as miserable as themselves.

Breed? Aren't you just a lovely person. Time to expand my ignore list.

You think people should be comfortable and happy while scrounging??

Food stamps are the way forward. Might stop the people of Cherryfield Avenue Athlone buying cans to drink outside their house during the day time.

Caught a few fish along the way. Myself included fair dues. Enjoy your "wages" today buddy.

Awh poor diddums. Touched a nerve have I? Oh well, I love how people think that's some sort of threat!

So we should not bother legislating for murder, because although some people murder other people, Plenty Don't?

I think everyone is entitled to be happy and yes some comfort aswell. I really don't feel my life would be enhanced by making others miserable. That's just me though you clearly revel in the misery of others.

I have first hand experience of plenty that don't do that.

In a few years time, you exact same people will be giving out about food stamps and wanting to introduce selected boxed food system, it will never end.

    it won't no
How would stopping the "rent" for their social housing at source and giving people a card that can be used to buy food make the housing situation worse??

because the possible costs of trying to make the card and the whole system around it work properly, would leave less government money to go toards housing.

no jobs for them to get due to their unemployability. assuming we are talking about the long termers. for everyone else they will be working if they aren't already.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

We will hear all the bleeding hearts and poverty industry professionals whinging tomorrow about not getting enough for the " underprivileged and vulnerable " in the Budget. Nothing about the poor lad who gets out of bed to do a days work..

Good dodge, you haven't answered my question though.

For the people that don't waste their dole on booze, ciggies, drugs, gambling etc, the card would not make one iota of difference to them. They'd buy the exact same things, but by card, like the majority of people do nowadays anyway.

So what is your issue with introducing a card like this??

They don;t actually. Not in the way YOU mean. The less you have the less you need to be content .

Have a job, same place for the last 22 years. You sound very bitter and resentful. Can't be conducive to your well being. You should concentrate on yourself instead of wanting to visit misery on others.

It's not rocket science. Introduce a card and systems to handle it would cost the government money, leaving less money to spend somewhere else for example housing.

No the poor lad who gets out of bed has to pay for the "underprivileged and vulnerable" (or the neaveau riche as I call them).
