For anyone who hasn't seen it yet

    after the Beeb+RTE, 3rd time's a charm :D

    It's repeated on:
    W 9:00pm Wed 31 Aug - Season 1 Episode 1 of 6

Interview with Sally Wainwright at Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Amazing writer. Considering she wrote something as funny and off the wall as At Home with the Braithwaites, and years later turn her hand to something as bleakly dark as Happy Valley takes some doing.

Happy times as Sarah Lancashire WILL return for a final Happy Valley series
Sarah - who stars as the formidable Sergeant Catherine Cawood - told The Sun: "I thought we'd already had the end but Sally feels there is a very final ending needed for the show and for Catherine.

"There's going to be a very big full-stop to the piece."

It's also been claimed that the final series could feature eight episodes instead of the usual six.

I think there is still more to tell with Catherine but I'm not sure how much more crazy drama would be believable. I suppose the stuff in series 2 was mainly unrelated to Catherine herself, it was more just her job.

I find it hard too to imagine keeping that same blend of family and work life that made it successful but I have to trust the creators.

Sorry for raking up an oldish thread, but is there any news of Season 3?

I binge watched Seasons 1 and 2 last week and could not get over how brilliant it was!

Last I heard they were doing one but due to Wainwright's busy schedule they couldn't put a date on it.
Her latest thing, Gentleman Jack, is due to air this Autumn on BBC. So that's one thing out of the way anyway.

Happy Valley creator and writer Sally Wainwright has confirmed that the gritty drama starring Sarah Lancashire will return for a third series.

However, she adds that scripts will only get going once she has completed the already-commissioned second series of HBO/BBC One co-production Gentleman Jack, which recently wrapped its first series to stellar ratings.

Just finished watching Season 1 - wow me nerves ekk.. v good..

Well. I'm missing the detective work but I know, its not that kind of show.. writing could be better but its v good for what it is (within its scope).. good story - so interwoven... Sarah is class really..

    Gotta watch Season 2 now..

Unforgotten is one of the few shows I would put on the same level, you are in for a treat.

I heard that she was working on it but then they did a new series of Last Tango in Halifax, and then Gentleman Jack got a second series and whatever US network is involved there aren't as patient as the BBC so it took priority.

I think someone said too that they wanted to wait for the little kid who played Ryan to get a good bit older so they could focus on him a bit more. But he's in a film from a year or so ago and he looks like a teenager now, so she should have no more excuses now!

I have seen it, wouldn't put it on quite the same level, but yeah still very good.
Well season 1 and 3 were good, but 2 was poor imo.
