    I would have thought the S6 just had a 3.0 V6 but it’s down as having a 4.0TFSI.

That is a proper sleeper isn’t it? I don’t think I’d look twice at that out and about. Even the quad pipes are discreet

    Having a great car week.

Left car in last week to sort out some suspension squeaks and get an oil service.

End up having a leaking seal at back of engine which is replaced along with the now contaminated (with oil) cambelt along with the rear trailing arm bushes and 2 new front shocks (said suspension squeaks) along with an oil and filter service.

Get a just about 4 figure bill back but i swallow it as car is now driving like new.

    Job done drive her on.

Two days later im driving down a backroad near home feel a mechanical jump and lose all power so pull over inspect oil coolant cambelt to no joy the car won't start and end up getting it recovered back to garage work was carried out in.

Turns out my alternator belt which wasn't changed (reused) gave up on life and being the selfish prick he was tried to take the cambelt with him but only succeeded in hopping it afew teeth, the valves didnt like this carry on atall atall

So yea now im buying a diesel avensis. If anyone running a modern art museum wants a volvo S80 with a hurl through the back window for a nice display give me a shout i will do a good deal.

The latest one will just be a V6, only the RS6 will retain the V8 whenever it comes out (and I still remember when it had the V10).

Audi has replaced a lot of their V8s with the KoMoVo V6 now; the RS4 and S6 will only be V6 going forward, they were all V8 (and naturally aspirated in the case of the RS4 to rub further salt into the wounds) until fairly recently.

Only Mercedes is still doing V8s for all their top line models, even at C-class level (although the latest E350 petrol is just a four cylinder, you have to get a 450 model to get a petrol with more than four cylinders at Mercedes these days:().

Bit of a yarn here but my first job I ever had was in a local motor factors, a Lucas agent, back in the early 2000's, the factors was a small ish building on a broad piece of land looking a bit out of place in a residential area. Used to love going to work on my summer holidays in there.

Long story short, we finally bought our own place and the house is on a piece of land next door to the motor factors. Anyway, kind of interesting how some things come full circle like that.

Was clearing out the garage today and found a fan belt guide, the kind you used to see on garage walls that must have came from next door (slightly before my time :pac:). Mad to think that pretty much every variant of every car for sale in Ireland could be listed in large font on an A3 sized poster. Some big players there too like British Leyland, Talbot and Volkswagon. Also interesting that Opel seem to have the most extensive model list.

Found some old reg plates too. Is there anyway to put an age or location on that reg?

ZR apparently is Wexford, around June 1980 if Wikipedia is to believed.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_the_Republic_of_Ireland

Shame Cartell doesn't say what car had the number plate, would have been interesting to know!

    Tfb, thats deadly.

As far as I know old Starlets had that oddly sized rear plate

1980 Wexford plate in any case!

I guess we'll never know the car, shame. The location fits though :)

Going to try and clean up the sign and put it back on display, just afraid I'll scrub the writing off of it.

I'd say it was on a Starlet!

    Note the excess recess:

Saw an E24 635CSi this afternoon. One of my all time favourite BMWs, and in silver like my own precious, so that should have made my day completely, but it had style 68 wheels on it, which were the smaller M Sport wheel in an E46 (http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/bmw/68).

Now I'm normally a firm believer in each to their own and I also come from the school of if you've got nothing nice to say about someone else's car, then say nothing, but honestly they just don't suit an E24 at all.

Good lord that sounds like an awful combo... maybe we can hope that they had those wheels on temporarily while the proper wheels were being refurbed?

The M5 and M6 have a V8 as will the M8 which will be the same engine :)

Took my baby cupra for service and owner of dealership was there, so we had a wee talk and he gave me 181 leon cupra 300 while service is done. Fair play to him.

That’s dealer tactics 101 really you have an Ibiza Cupra which is 3 years old next year is it ? They know you like your cars so they are going to give you a Leon Cupra try give you a taste for the extra power so that it plays in the back of your mind that you should get one :)

I drove one about a month ago they are very impressive.

My boss is having one of his 635CSi's serviced at the moment after being in storage for a number of years. It'll be nice to see it parked up outside the office :D

Oh god I know, I am not stupid. Thing is, I like that tactic and I wanted to try it it. It works both ways, I get to test drive a car I am thinking of getting next.

So I drove it a bit, back home until service will be done.
    My throughs so far:
Yeah, it has more power then my baby cupra, but when it comes to speed up to 120 I dont think there is much difference. I like the power though. :)
Its bigger for sure, but not by a lot in front. Its nice. The back obviously more practical. On the road driving it, it does not feel that much bigger. I like that a lot.
Engine Noise is nice too. I was a bit surprised that road noise on motorway is still very high.
All in all, I like it, but not 38k price tag like it, considering what I have already. I still want new ibiza in cupra spec, which would be perfect for me. 2-3 year old leon cupra is a very strong option now when it will be time for change.

Ah Shadow, that's not how you approach this! You should have gone for my tactic, "Look it's a 5 door, it's much more practical for when we have kids". Of course she took that literally and now I'm knee deep in nappies and had to trade it in for a diesel "SUV".

Well, my rat is 9 now. I did not made it, just took over lease and payments. :D I will want 4 door, because she is getting bigger and it really annoys me how she gets in and gets out of the car when she sits in the back. First world problem, I know. Other then that I absolutely love my baby cupra. So much bang for the money. Most importantly its so much fun to drive.

They had new ibiza with fr spec in showroom and it looked really nice, but 150hp wont cut it. :(

After 4 new tyres, a new bonnet lock, a subframe, differential and petrol tank drop to fit new brake lines, a LOT of scraped knuckles and a general emptying of my bank account the E36 finally has an NCT. It's finally at a stage where it is mechanically good so cosmetics from here out please God.
A full respray is planned as I want to use it to as my wedding car next year. My new fiance suggested using it for the wedding, I chose well I think.

You did for sure! Congrats anyway man!

Your bus looks well already anyway, I can only imagine just how well it will look once it's resprayed.
