Well if the BS (sorry not the bull sh1t, or maybe it is..) has 2000 more listeners and the overall listenership is down, can only assume that a stadium amount of listeners fcuked off with PJ.....

Hayes and Branigan...the new Penn and Teller...:D
I'll let you guess who the small insignificant one is......

I'm amazed my 1* review of C&L is still there. It's feeling lonely though. Can we please have a few more.

I'd vote but I don't think there is anything lower than 1*

They must have someone full time employed to delete all the negative comments at this stage.

Have you seen BBC Radio 2's comments on their FB about their Drivetime?

Liam Quigley on this morning. So much better. Small bit of chat where he mentions something in the news but no fake banter.

The music is 10 times better too. And there's more of if. Hope he doesn't bother with Holly Talks.

Was just going to post this. Jumped in car and radio was on from last night. Thinking to myself the clowns are playing good music this morning, surprise surprise Liam Quigley comes on to do a nice short link and back to good music.
So much more refreshing listening to him on my commute rather than the other muck

Oh I'm not expecting this to be the new morning show but it's always better when Liam is on.

That's interesting. I always listen to Newstalk in the mornings, but I would have been straight back to Nova if I knew that Quigley was on. He's a proper DJ, perfect voice and style of presenting for first thing in the morning. I'm guessing that Colm & Lucy are on holiday? Call me a cynic, but I doubt that the powers that be at Castleforbes House have finally taken on board the negative feedback directed at the breakfast show.

Here's hoping. But they can't leave him there for too long, he might actually gain a decent following and upstage Hayes and his pet project to turn the station into FM104.

Here's the thing, he's actually admitted doing it. Heard one of those promotion pieces the other day. I was driving in an area where my usual station was out of reach and listening to Greg.

Went along the lines of I hear the guys down at 98 are getting worried, likewise 104 are scared. Better watch out we are coming or something.

Sigh.. can someone put Hayes back in his box? Brannigan? No.. didn't think so.

Sorry folks. I'm sure they will both be back in a few days. I heard Liam this morning, and he is great for radio.

I highly doubt that Hayes and Kennedy would be dropped just like that, as much as many listeners would like.

I wonder will this morning's show allow for some positive comments, or even pleas for Liam to be kept.

More chance of Liam being dropped tbh..for being more popular , likeable and more professional, a radio show for adults.. ..:)
Edit;...look what happened to Mike Moloney and PJ....

Nice one...think more people need to know this..i didnt..or forgot.;)

    Ernie's post....

"Maybe I've stayed quiet about this for too long, but if anybody's entitled to ownership over the 'biggest jukebox' concept it's probably me.
Back in the mid eighties, while working on Energy 103, I had an idea for a Sunday morning/afternoon show. The idea/claim was that we at Energy had a jukebox that contained any song anybody wanted to hear. My title for the show: 'The Biggest Jukebox In Dublin'. I approached Pat Courtenay and Tony McKenzie, who both loved the concept and gave it the green light (I asked for, and Pat produced, some great effects of a coin dropping into the jukebox and a needle and crackles etc before each requested song started). This was obviously the pre-Adobe era and recording and editing calls wasn't as easy as it is today, so they way it worked was: I'd take a caller, put 'em on hold while someone ran down to the library on the floor below and brought up the requested track. Quick live chat on air, Pat's sound effects and hey presto! Their song within seconds.
The show proved popular but was unfortunately short-lived as the famous pirate clamp down of the 80s was due to be enforced. Energy didn't survive, and within months of closing a show called 'Ireland's Biggest Jukebox' started its long run with a similar format and in the exact same time slot on 2FM. Coincidence? Who knows.
Request shows, even in the mid-eighties, were nothing new, though the 'jukebox' concept was; and while I'm not saying who owns what concept or title, all I am saying is that there's a little radio history some of you may or may not have been aware of. Thirty years on, it would be nice to at least get some acknowledgement of the part some of us played in the development of one of the most popular Irish radio shows of all time."

To be fair a poster here compared Nova to TXFM. Think of the bands played on TXFM and think of the likes of Claire Beck, Cathal Funge, Donal Dineen and Joe Donnelly. Nothing remotely close to the same types of music. I never heard George Ezra being played to death on TXFM. I did used to get great use out of Shazam when listening to TXFM....now I rarely bother with Nova. Wasn't too bad when Greg Gaughran was on in the morning but the Marty lad has put paid to that.

Yep, you would hear great stuff on occasion on TXFM - but they were heavily, heavily playlisted, especially during the day. Ezra, Bastille, Kodaline, Two Door Cinema Club, got massive airplay - much to the chagrin of the "real" music fans... Remember "Ho Hey" by the Lumineers? Yeeesh.

The exact same criticisms that are being made against Nova now were being levelled at TXFM - they've forgotten what they're "supposed" to be playing, it used to be so much better, too much commercial crap, why doesn't the BAI step in, etc.

Memory is a funny thing. There's always a tendency to look back on the past with rose-tinted specs when you don't like the present. As much as we all might miss TXFM, it was savagely criticised on here at the time. And for all the people bitching about what Nova used to be, the reality is that the exact same criticisms were being made against it from day one on boards.ie.

So if people don't like Nova - grand, but there was never a time when Nova was what people on this thread think it was. Expecting them to go back to something that never existed, well, it's a long shot.

Agree to a point ()..what most on here are complaining about is what a basterd of a station nova has become, its basically Phanovtx 100/103fm...!!
Its now playing the bands that TX were playing when they were playing "rock"...oh yes we all remember the unbearable repetition...Nova seems more pointed towards pop/rock and chat , endless ad's and less music, inspite of their more music crap...Now we have Gavin Glass sounding like Bono and Bono sounding like Adele...WTF....
