That's exactly what I don't want to happen

Perhaps the ryanair pilots listen to nova and are trying to stop the dopey duo getting home from holiday.

Listening to the breakfast show with Liam this morning, and there was an ad for "Season 2" of the Colm and Lucy show to begin next week. Liam, gent that he is, just said something like, "Season 2 indeed" and straight in to the excellent tunes. :D

    I was amused anyway :pac:

It almost sounds like he's the most despised presenter in on nova....imagine that...;)

I only realised this morning I'd had nova on exclusively this week in the car. Been so enjoyable. Came on to see what the story is in the hope they'd been axed.

its been so much better the past week. like nova of 4/5 years ago! really wish it could stay that way. even some songs i heard around lunchtime in my car were of the old nova era! god knows what they were trying by selling out on who they really are but theres no way they were gonna take over likes of 104, 98 etc by just being the same as them - why would people jump ship when theres no differentiator. if only theyd stick to what they are

Today will be his last morning on the breakfast show. We should all text in and tell him what a pleasure its been with him on the radio the last 2 weeks.

Also heard his 'season 2, indeed' remark, had a little laugh to myself at that.

Can Morty shut up d fook about 'storm Ernesto'. Even after a met man come's on and says that it will be a little windy with possible gales on exposed coasts, he is still warning people about the STORM coming. Nova sound like the English Tabloids with their bull****e weather warnings.

Its what he does..he picks a subject and googles the fcuk out of it..i.e Madonnas birthday...still goin on about it today...and then he plays Haircut 100.....

Not just him, seems to be a trait with modern dj's where they half hear/understand a weather event and proceed to warn the public about taking precautions. Then when said event passes with little distruption people start complaining about the hype where as if they listened to the actual forecasters not a dj they'd realise it was never going to be bad in their area.

He's a funny sort. Intensly passionate about old school rock yet utterly lacking in any perceptive knowledge whatsoever about that particular passion. It's quite the oxymoron.

He's just typical of the modern day presenter, overly interested in the job in hand..
He spends his evenings googling all the useless info on all the bands on his next track list...once a month he'll be seen in Easons with his copy of Rolling stone or Mojo magazine, but there'll be also a copy of Hello underneath...and in Morty's case probably a Beano too...:p

At least he makes an effort and his playlist is quite good unlike those ‘two’ on the breakfast show!

A bit "too much" effort imo..his tunes are decent but i dont care what the singer had for breakfast ....his tunes per hour must be as low as the other pair...

I was changing stations just after the 1pm news the other day.
Guess what song was on which station!

Song 1 - She drives me Crazy - Fine Young Cannibals
Song 2 - Livin on a Prayer - Bon Jovi

    Stations of Q102 and Nova
Nova were playing Fine Young Cannibals!

    Were Bon Jovi on Q?

nothing strange there. over the past few years, nova are playing more mainstream stuff from the 80s. listen to the all 80s lunch or friday nights 80s.

    I like that Quigley chap

    I like that Quigley chap

He has a lot of previous experience in radio - check out my previous post about him! :
Liam Quigley has a wide and varied radio career. He started with Cork pirates in the '80s and then did a few months with Dublin's superpirate Energy 103. Then it was over to the U.K. for a number of stations, including among others Virgin Radio, Radio Nova International and Viking.

Liam was part of the original lineup of Century Radio (Ireland's first independent national station) in 1989. He left it in 1991 for 98FM - good timing! Apart from a two-year period with London's Heart FM, Liam was with 98FM until 2000. He was then part of the original schedule for Lite FM (since renamed Q102) and was the weekday breakfast presenter until 2002. In 2003, he joined 2FM and was the weekend breakfast presenter and left in 2005.

From 2003 to the present day, Liam Quigley has been supplying voice overs and his voice is often heard on radio and tv. After 2005, he did not do any regular presenting until he recently joined Radio Nova. Along the way, he did present a couple of pre-recorded programs for 4FM - I think it was just for one weekend.

John Clark played Starship - We Built This City earlier. I copped something, and I'm not sure if anybody else has already:

There is a part of the song, which is obviously meant to be a radio host saying:

"It's your favorite radio station, in your favorite radio city
The city by the bay, the city that rocks, the city that never sleeps. . ."

On Nova, unless this was just a once off, they have replaced it with:

"Looking out over Dublin City on another gorgeous Saturday, and that bumper to bumper traffic on the M50. . ." Don't you remember. . .

"Nova, you're favourite radio station in your favourite radio city, Dublin, the city that rocks, the city that never sleeps. . ."

    It's Liam Quigley's voice!

For anyone that want to listen, it's around 10 minutes and 35 seconds into the 12-1 section of John Clark's show.

I've heard Liam Quigley play that version himself a few times. It's a nice touch and works well.

Maybe a bit like Pat Courtenay playing the Homer Simpson version of The Joker at the beginning of the original!

Doesn't Courtenay play a version of The wall with a slighly different intro too. Not sure if it's the album version or something of that nature.

Looks like Lisa Gernon is on after Kieran on Sunday nights, 11pm-1am.

And the classic rock stream isn't working......again (after OTR) :mad:So it's back to planet rock for nighttime radio.
