Ah, it's early days and just a safety bet and will be added to with other equally daft ones as the day draws near.

ps I'm a Munster supporter so I'm allowed to bet against Leinster. :D

    bet of the weekend

    ulster +2

the early bet seems to have been worth it.

there is no spread currently, and i can see ulster going negative before kick off.

I should have waited for the team announcement. I don't like the look of that Munster team so I've cut my losses and just put an equal amount to my Munster bet on Ulster -1. :o

    Noooo.jpg

I didn't cover the draw and just for good measure at half-time I backed Munster to score more than 27 points!

Can we get the thread back up and running for the internationals?

I'm looking at ireland and England both to win their tours @5/6 + 5/4
I feel northern hemisphere rugby is ahead of the southern at the moment and ireland are a much better side than the Aussies.
England have it all to prove in South Africa but with big Billy back and the fear that Jones won't make it to the world cup if they perform badly here I think we will see a different animal also took and outside punt on England 3-0 @15/2.

    For tomorrow I'm backing ireland -1 @1/1 and England-2.5@13/8

Small anytime tryscorer bets on henshaw @ 4/1
    Vunipola @13/5
    Singles and a double

  • Subscribers Posts: 43,129 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

    Double Ireland - 1 and Italy +2

Don't know how Ireland will perform really, but I have faith that joey is cool enough not to be over awed by the occasion and will show that he's actually a better 10 than foley.

I don't like betting against a Jamie Joseph japan, but I think Italy actually are progressing better and I think o sheas influence will shine through sooner than he expects. Will they be up for it, or on a jolly though?

And for fun, John Ryan first try scorer @50s

Haven't looked into the game at all but doesn't Joseph coach the japanese super rugby team too? Id imagine pretty much the whole team will be the same which would worry you a little although you would have to think the Italians are a better side I see it the same as the bookies as pretty much a coin toss really

There's little value in the All Blacks game unless the remote possibility of a draw @ 50/1 or France to win :D @ 12/1. A more realistic bet might be France to score more than 7.5 in the 1st half @ Evens.

Ireland v Australia - too hard to call (for me) as Australian rugby is in the horrors but we haven't seen them since their irrelevant win over the All Blacks in the 3rd Bledisloe game in October last year. Heart says Ireland but an Aussie win @ 21/20 or the draw at 20/1 are possibilities for me.

England vs SA - not much of interest here but I'll be going for England @13/10.

That's it - I still have to place my bets so I'll probably sleep on it.

    Happy days. :D

Have kept away from SA v England so far but England to win @ 5/4 looks to be the bet.

Reloading to go on England again
    #whatoddspaddy b vunipola anytime England-2.5 5/1
    Daly anytime 9/4
    Vunipola anytime 5/2
    England -6.5 5/2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,363 ✭✭✭✭Del.Monte

Gone with England to win @ 5/4 and Owen Farrell - Try, Conversion, Penalty and Drop Goal @ 50/1.

looking at the bets for this weekend and some value stands out for me.

wales +1 against argentina seems very generous considering their relatively easy 13 point victory last weekend with quite an experimental second string forward pack, who substantially out fought their argie rivals. Wales are building quite a deep squad and any player rotation for this game wont weaken them in my opinion, might actually make them stronger.

    ireland +1
harder to argue this one other than the expected players coming in should bolster the squad. A sexton / henshaw / ringrose line up would be considered significantly stronger than the carbery / aki / henshaw axis that started the first test, in which creativity was hard to find, and which were at sea defensively more than a couple of times.
We know how australia will play and pretty much how they will set up (might be some pack rotation with robertson and simmons or tui to start) and we know ireland should be absolutely raging at their loss last weekend.

Only bet so far - France more than 6.5 in the 1st half @ 5/6. Surely they are going to come out fighting or have they already resigned themselves to a whitewash?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,127 ✭✭✭The real mccoy 91

After an opening day disaster I'm going back in for more value I think I have spotted tomorrow

    Ioane first try 6/1
    France +30.5 and under 58.5 points 7/5

    Sexton motm 9/1
    Folau anytime 15/8

Also feel there is value to be had in ireland and England winning their series @9/4 and 10/3 double works out 13/1

    My bets :

    Ireland +1 @10/11
    Wales +3 @ 10/11

    Ireland v Australia
    Under 42.5 points @ 5/6
    Ireland to win +13 @ 5/1
    Conway 1st tryscorer @ 11/1
    Scannal 1st tryscorer @ 20/1
    Draw @ 16/1

A bit of a disaster really...compounded by my only bet in the England game - to score more than 13.5 points in the 1st half. Still I live to fight again next weekend.

happy enough with those predictions and was close'ish with some of my other bets.

im still flabbergasted at the spread wales had... and even on top of the initial spread, they drifted to +3 !!

Current spread has ireland -4 for the final test, mainly due to the known absence of Genia i would think. Ill hold off on an early bet until the team announcements this time, just in case Joe does decide to put out a similar team to the first test. Cheks will put out his best available 23 again, though Genia definitley gone and Coleman most likely.

The best bet currently may be the NZ -25 one. Its hard to see how France will be too interested in this game after already loosing the series. yes, they fought well last weekend... but i think that will just result in the ABs coping flak over their own performance and will be all out to lift their game this weekend. There will be some experimenting by Hanson (possibly see DMK start?) but i dont think the drop off in performance will be that vast.

i wont touch the english one

Jaguares v stormers, missing their internationals, at -7 might be a good shout too.

Lineups pending, Cardiff +6 at home to Leinster looks like decent value. Benetton +6 away to Dragons is tempting also.

Also tempted by Benneton handicap. Munster -20 at home to Cheetahs looks good as well, especially considering how Cheetahs have been destroyed in their opening CC games.
