Plugging the cable into the car's USB port will still charge it, just not as fast.

The car's USB charger barely gives any power, not worth plugging it in.

OP6 is on the UPS van this morning on its way to me. Ordered it last week in a fit of frustration at my S8 having only 20% battery left at 5pm despite only light usage. I have a bit of buyer's remorse now and thinking of returning it.

Small poll - keep it/Send it back ? My main usage is camera/music and I like not having to charge during the day.

That could be car depending though? I use my OP3 for navigation and music via Android Auto and the USB port still manages to charge the phone, even with heavy use.

Have it for a week now. Quality phone. Only downside ive noticed is how secure face unlock is - my twin brother can unlock it from my face :D

Is the camera much better than the likes of the galaxy s7? I'm considering a change and this will be what I'm trying myself to for next few years.

(Obviously caught between s9 plus, Huawei p20 pro and this). OP being best value. But want a damn good snapper. That's what I use the phone most for.

try it out first then return after a week or so. If it's not up to your standard then get your money back.

Stick to S9 if you want a better camera, OnePlus isn't really known for their camera.

Why recommend the S9 camera when the P20 seems better in that department?

Currently in the US and thinking about upgrading to the 6? I'm assuming it will work when back in Ireland?

I'm also looking at picking up a second phone for the girlfriends sister (silk white) can you get money off a second phone with a referral code? Also guessing that I'll need to buy a 3 prong plug as it'll come with a US version?

Referral codes are for accessories only.

If you buy in the US, of course it'll come with a US plug.

For Dash charging, you need the OnePlus charger and cable.

Plugging the cable into the car's USB port will still charge it, just not as fast.

Dash charging isn't available on the car charger. Dash charging is at 5V 4A, the OP car charger is only 5V 2A. I'm using an Apple certified 3rd party 5V 2A charger and it's charging at the full 5V 2A according to my usb meter so it makes no difference for car charging what charger you use as long as it's 5V 2A.

Hi yes tried a couple of wired headphones/iem's not that different from my iPhone 6s plus in that it gets loud but not overly loud. It has various presets as well. I suppose it depends on the headphones you are driving I tried with my 48ohm Sony MDR-1A's they sound fine. Best results were with my KZ ZS6 iem's which sounded great. I think if you want the phones with the best DAC's you need to go with LG phones.

Last charge was 28 hours ago and I've 38% battery, pretty good! That was moderate use and about 8 hours of sleep but still :)

Will know over the weekend what I'll get with heavy use.

Really enjoying the phone so far. Fingerprint scanner isn't fantastic but face recognition is. Lightening quick! The phone itself is crazy quick too, as you'd expect.

Any hints/tips going for things that aren't obvious?

I noticed a bug with hiding the notch and android auto on my cars screen. The icons on the bottom of the screen disappear when notch is hidden. I've put a support message into OnePlus. But looks like it's a known issue with OnePlus

The 5.1.6 OTA update is on the way, available in some countries. If you have a VPN and connect to Germany you can download it now.

My Android Auto is working very well once I keep the notch visible. It loads much faster, and responds much faster than my old HTC 10. I guess if you use Android Auto you have to put up with the notch for now. To be honest the doesn't bug me as much as I expected it to but I know it does other people.

Has anybody insured their One Plus 6? My OP6 is ordered and on route but I am thinking of insuring it due to the cost and I would imagine an accidental drop and screen crack could cost a lot of money. The model is insurable from Blue insurance and Chill insurance looks to be a good alternative too. Has anybody any experience dealing with these for phone insurance?

    Thanks.

You hope they stop people being able to modify their phone how they like ASAP? or do you have a concern about stolen phones?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,572 ✭✭✭Roberto_gas

Its more about ppl who dont want to unlock bootloader and they lost their phone...rather than who want to. Its a major security bug as per experts...similar to what happened in oneplus one.

I personally dont care as first thing i did was unlocking bootloader. But this is giving oneplus bad press which is what i was trying to highlight thr...

Its actually good if u want to install twrp without unlocking bootloader 😎😎

Anyone getting a lag the odd time when you try to unlock/wake the phone?

I try to double press the screen which should activate it, then fingerprint and then the power button but even that takes 4-5 seconds. Eventually the screen wakes and all is good. Has happened 2-3 times now

I've not noticed it, but I have to qualify that by saying I've the flip case which triggers the screen to wake before I can even try a double tap, so probably not representative. But by the same token, I've not seen a lag in responding to the case along those lines either.

Might be a bit it an odd question, but has anyone else started receiving calls from Sweden and UK since purchasing the One Plus 6? I'm getting a lot of calls from numbers in those two countries and it's only started happening since I bought the phone. Assuming it's a scam, but just want to see if anyone else has had the same thing since buying the phone?
