Freeman now fighting back but with his reputation and career in tatters the damage is done.
    A significant victory for #metoo

Freeman in his letter points to the fact that the comment which fueled reporter Chloe Melas' investigation into him was not even made to her, but rather in response to a story his co-star Michael Caine had been telling at the press junket for Going In Style.

This comes just two days after one of the woman labeled as a Freeman accuser in story, Tyra Martin, said on-air that her comments were misrepresented and she did not at any point deem the actor's behavior inappropriate.

This is really the jump the shark accusation for the #MeToo bandwagoners.
That Freeman actually has to involve his lawyers in this is an embarrassment.

Can men not check a woman out anymore? It's not like this accuser was drugged and raped ffs.
Let's get a little perspective there. Someone famous checked me out once upon a time. Burn him?

If she was embarrassed at the time or even thereafter would she not have said it to him? Why not? Did he have too much power?
Did she fear for her job to say something? Would that not have clarified any misunderstandings there? Or will some of that me too limelight or a bit of ching-ching know what I mean, clarify it for her now?

I think it commendable that he is not going down without a fight but he is going down.
The accuser who wrote the articleb has been discredited by video evidence produced by Freeman's lawyers. The only named accuser has said she was misrepresented and her words twisted. Which calls into question the reliability of the anoynomous accusers used in the article. Including the woman who allegedly claimed that he touched her skirt.
But as the Spectator said the real agenda of #metoo is to make starring and flirting a crime by bringing down a major figure for these actions

The allegations of sexual harassment laid out are serious in nature and warrant investigating. They are not just lads behaviour nor banter.

In any workplace they would have a male employee fired and rightly so.

The actions that you deem serious sexual harrassment which should get any man fired were staring and flirting.
The skirt touching allegation is being disputed. The claimed witness has not corroborated it.
The question for men now is do we grovel, apologize for being men or is it not time to say Enough is Enough

I looked and stared at them so am I as bad as Morgan.

    PS I have no money.
Rehabilitated. Let's see now. You know, come to think of it, I have no idea what that means.

Boobs are a dangerous thing. Boobs can drive a man insane.

I heard he is heading for Mexico, but I doubt they will toss up any roadblocks for an old actor like him.
I hope he makes it across the border.

I am not allowed discuss …

    If you're staring you're a creep

Irrespective if he was 27, or 77, if these allegations are true, to subject an employee to this is completely creepy, an abuse of power and sexual harassment in the workplace.
    anewme wrote: »

There seems to have been witnesses to all allegations so that’s probably why he can’t deny them outright.

CNN would have armed themselves with legal advice before publishing these allegations given who they are taking in for fear of being sued, so they would not have issued this report unless it was water tight and would stand up in Court under scrutiny.

The fact there is no rebuttal to the allegations as opposed to the lame, it was a joke half asses apology or I was just trying to compliment women is quite telling if you think about it.

What’s more concerning here are the comments excusing and condoning it “ they should be grateful that Morgan Freeman “flirted” with them” type comments as this shows a complete lack of awareness of how to conduct yourself as an individual and especially in a work setting.

    _Brian wrote: »
It sickens me to think that men will try and pass this off as “banter” or just men being men.

This is not common or normal behaviour and we should never delude ourselves into thinking it’s any way acceptable.

Letter from Freeman's lawyers to CNN. If the accusation of sexual harassment that has been made against Morgan Freeman by the reporter that carried out the investigation has been proven by videotape evidence to be a complete fabrication and a lie, how can we have any confidence that the accusations that she claimed anonymous. sources made to her against him are accurate.

Of the three people CNN identified as being a "victim," the first, CNN’s own Chloe Melas, had no reasonable basis to have interpreted what Mr. Freeman said or did at the Going In Style interview last year as having been directed at her or as any form of harassment. The videotape confirms that his statement had nothing to do with her and was not harassing. And an independent third party, the Warner Bros. Human Resources Department, investigated her claim and concluded that it was not supported by the facts.

The second person CNN identified, Tyra Martin, has gone on record twice since CNN published the article to state that CNN misrepresented what she said to CNN and that Mr. Freeman did not harass her.

The third person CNN identified, Lori McCreary, told CNN that Mr. Freeman never harassed her.

Ms. Melas baited and prodded supposed “witnesses” to say bad things about Mr. Freeman and tried to get them to confirm her bias against him. Thus, no reader of the article can have any confidence that any of the anonymous sources, which make up the balance of CNN’s article, can be relied upon at all.

In a follow-up statement to THR, Schwartz added: "We presented CNN with objective evidence, including videotapes and on-the-record denials by the claimed 'victims,' that the alleged incident that gave rise to the story never happened. We proved to CNN, beyond any doubt, that the whole story was built on fakery. The credibility of the entire CNN attack on Mr. Freeman has now been undermined. And in choosing to ignore all of the evidence that we presented, CNN has confirmed our concerns about its reporters, its lack of oversight, and its gross misconduct in unjustifiably attacking Mr. Freeman."

Presumably all the "feminists" that called for his head will now be equally quick to acknowledge their mistake.

Just joking, of course they won't.

We're only a short few years away from going full medieval and having feminists roaming the streets with red hot pokers to put out the eyes of any straight white man who dares look at cleavage.

    I'm alright with it.

If advertisers etc. are indeed jumping ship (and they have - VISA etc) then Freeman now only need show that CNN acted negligently in their reporting, and the "wish I was there" tape is real strong evidence to that - it is so plainly in reference to Cain's story about a not-pregnant woman that any of 20 staff at CNN should have intercepted that story before it aired.

I hope the feminists call for these women’s heads for making a mockery of the #metoo campaign. All the work and bravery of these brave noble women is being undermined by liars and attention seekers.

Excuse for not doing this in 3...2....1

Given that his reputation is in tatters what does he have to lose. . If I were him I would go all out and sue CNN for defamation. Risky but might be worth it. Of course if he went that route he would still have to justify the staring at breasts and his flirting with women which has always been part of his character. For

metoo Flirting = sexual harassment. There is no difference

I am devastated that 80 years of my life is at risk of being undermined, in the blink of an eye, by Thursday's media reports.

I disagree. i think that the the emasculation of men by the demonisation of things like staring at breasts is exactly where#metoo is going. So the feminazis on here (and Brian) will be apologising for nothing.

The viedotape is hardly damning if you have the sense to view it in its full and proper context.

So far his reputation only seems to be ruined in the eyes of people ready to jump on the idea of the next Bill Cosby. Freeman, thus far, has yet to be proven a sexual deviant, especially in the likes of Cosby or Lauer or Weinstein.

Clip of the reporter that wrote the article trying to justify her claim that the now infamous "Boy, do I wish I was there" comment is sexual harassment directed at her. And not a response to what Michael Caine had just said. Bear in mind as well that Freemans lawyers have videotape that clearly show that her claims of sexual harassment off camera were fictitious.

    .

Yes, this is precisely the same clip I saw before reaching the logical conclusion Morgan was referring to the story. The woman even chuckles at the remark. Everything else she has said so far is at this point conjecture, which she is trying to give false credence to by misrepresenting the context of the video. Certainly works against her.

But is it not true that CNN are standing over their report.?

You'd have to wonder if they have a silver bullet? "Respond forcefully " is strong language.

This is not over yet, in fact it's probably just beginning.

According to SF Gate, CNN will not be retracting its story accusing Morgan Freeman of sexual harassment. Freeman’s lawyer demanded a retraction and apology from CNN over its story last week accusing the actor of “unwanted touching” and sexual harassment. The Cable News Network reps said “CNN stands by its reporting and will respond forcefully to any attempt by Mr. Freeman or his representatives to intimidate us from covering this important public issue.
