I'm on his side on this one, what he said or did may have been inappropriate but that's all. He doesn't deserve a witch Hunt.

Ahhh come on, if it’s confirmed he was trying to lift her skirt and asking if she was wearing underwear then surely that is way beyond inappropriate humour and well into the realm of sexual harassment.

It will be interesting to see what Alan Arkin has to report on this. If he confirms it then it’s a very serious allegation and totally inappropriate behaviour and an abuse of his position.

    It will.

Thats actually just one of the allegations, though.

The report instigator is the pregnant reporter to whom he made the strange comments about being ripe.

She immediately reported the matter to her Supervisor and it was reported to the Company distributing the film but they said they could do nothing as only one of the remarks were caught on camera. Not happy with the response she then set out to find out was this just as one off incident or a more sinister pattern and the CNN report is the output of that.

There seems to have been witnesses to all allegations so that’s probably why he can’t deny them outright.

CNN would have armed themselves with legal advice before publishing these allegations given who they are taking in for fear of being sued, so they would not have issued this report unless it was water tight and would stand up in Court under scrutiny.

The fact there is no rebuttal to the allegations as opposed to the lame, it was a joke half asses apology or I was just trying to compliment women is quite telling if you think about it.

What’s more concerning here are the comments excusing and condoning it “ they should be grateful that Morgan Freeman “flirted” with them” type comments as this shows a complete lack of awareness of how to conduct yourself as an individual and especially in a work setting.

The agenda of the #metoo movement is the complete emasculation of men. Great statement from Morgan and he would be doing us a great service to us if he continues to refuse to subjugate himself to their demands and grovel and apologize for being a man. This was banter and flirting.

Greedy woman. I'm sure he paid her well, the money has run out and now she wants more.

Context ! There may be one or two women that may be ok with this with a man they fancy . Women are not the Borg . They are not all the same . I admit that in 99.99% of situations it isn’t but that is not to say that there cannot be a situation where it is flirting .

Clearly reading a different statement than the rest of us.

    It’s a work situation.

word of warning: don’t EVER do this in work or you will be sacked.

“Being a man” surely isn’t about lifting women’s skirts and asking them about their underwear ??
That’s not the behaviour of a normal man with proper respect for women.

It will be important to see what allegations if indeed any are substantiated by others. I don’t care which way it falls to be honest.

But we should never fall into believing that the behaviour described is normal or just a man being a man.

In fairness I think the title of the thread could be edited in some way as the actual allegations are serious in nature and not to be made light of or mocked.

Admittedly Swinger Parties is the most apt place for this .

Fair point, the thread title is very misleading.

As a man I’m staggered by this post and worried.
It sickens me to think that men will try and pass this off as “banter” or just men being men.

I’m closer to 50 than 40 and have worked in a wide range of workplaces both male dominated manual jobs and gender equal offices.

This is not common or normal behaviour and we should never delude ourselves into thinking it’s any way acceptable.

I fear that many shallow people will bend over backwards to excuse their beloved celebs no matter what happens.

The thread title is accurate. One of the public accusations against him for which he is being shamed and humiliated is that he looked at women's breasts.

" CNN reached out to dozens more people who worked for or with Freeman. Some praised Freeman, saying they never witnessed any questionable behavior or that he was a consummate professional on set and in the office"

Of the dozens that the investigative team interviewed over many months they got seven to make accusations of sexual abuse.

The accusation from one of those seven is that he stared at her breasts.

What are the actual rules ? How long can you look at Breasts , Legs , Necks , ankles , shoulders , hair , etc ? Or Mens groins , bums etc ?

Would it be bad etiquette not to look for the correct amount of time ?

Would under-looking also be wrong ?

Would averting one’s eyes be wrong and a potential work place hazard ?

You are basing the thread title on one allegation but there is more one allegation.

Picking and choosing to make a mockery of what are serious allegations.

Trying to make light of serious allegations is itself a form of harrasment and bullying of those who make the allegations.

It’s the realm of those who would like to see this behaviour acceptable

    Pure degenerates.

So now you are accusing me of harrassment and bullying because I have a different opinion to you. If we worked together you would probably have succeeded for having me fired by now.

And yes. I am one of those degenerates that would like to see the practice of looking at breasts decriminalized.

Thankfully looking at breasts is not a criminal offense but surely you can see a difference between that and trying to lift someone's skirts, ask them about their underwear etc etc? Or maybe you can't.

'Banter' is not an excuse to act like a wanker.

You are trying to censor people speaking by deliberate ignoring serious allegations and belittling them.

If you lifted or attempted to lift a woman’s skirt in my office, you’d be frogmarched off the premises by the Guards.

I work in a modern office environment. There is no more flirtation or banter. A few sackings took care of that. And the men are terrified. They avert their gaze when speaking to women and second everything they say for fear it might cause offense. So to an extent ye have already won.

If the sackings took place based on your definitions of flirtation and banter in this thread, I can’t really say I’m surprised.

There are Guards waiting in your office to frogmarch people out? Where do you work, the Vatican?

Men must be terrified to be in situations with women where there are not trustworthy witnesses about .

In the present situation an innocent man could be accused of all sorts and the ‘ no smoke without fire ‘ brigade would have him hung drawn and quartered without due process .

All the sensitive souls hurt by the thread title are right, it should be changed. I suggest:

Rich old man flirts awkwardly, will pay handsomely for it.

Admittedly , Deference to Wealthy / Powerful / famous people is a big problem and very negative to human kind .

Had some run of the mill man / woman behaved inappropriately then they would be out the door double quick .

Deference to supposed betters is a huge problem for human kind .

So much of this stuff happens because of Deference .

My comment was general in nature.
I didn’t mention you by name nor use the term “you”

I would never attack a poster, isn’t that against the boards guidelines.

Continuing to focus on a lesser accusation and deliberately ignoring the more serious allegations is just juvenile behaviour.

The allegations of sexual harassment laid out are serious in nature and warrant investigating. They are not just lads behaviour nor banter.

In any workplace they would have a male employee fired and rightly so.

It will be important to see if any allegations are substantiated and what action is taken.
