For sure. It will be less horrifying if it turns out he had a motive and wasn't some guy who randomly turned psycho.

No excuse for his actions though.

Yes if she knew him and that story is true, it is a horrible way for a young women to end her life but it makes the whole ordeal somehow less vulnerable for her. The thoughts of being dragged up the leadmines with an unknown freak is too much for me to even think about. It's still horrible, she must have been so scared but maybe she was at least able to try reason with him, felt he could be persuaded right to her end and above all, wasn't sexually assaulted.

It's just the reality of the situation - it's not exactly a novel motive. Again I'm not justifying his actions.

Such a totally shocking series of events, well to me anyway.

No problem with him being shot. None. For one thing it has saved us a fortune in free legal aid and endless appeals and personal notoriety.

Very sad for the woman’s parents, so tragic.

I’m sure his family are suffering as well. And no one knows what goes on behind closed doors either.

Bloody hell. Awful turn of events and the poster stating that they had personal details from a gardai but didn't want to share it and yet they come on boards what B.S. and shame on you.

I would hope it's just a poor turn of phrase being used, as in not blaming the girl but saying that there's always a possibility of an affair going sour if it gets out.

This case makes me think of that woman Esra Uyrun who is still missing to this day, her car found in Bray 6/7 years ago, makes you wonder could this guy could be responsible?..

You can be sure that his DNA profile will be run against any open unsolved cases where DNA other than the victim's was recovered. If they get any matches, that ought to know very quickly, maybe by the weekend.

Yes indeed.. I for one feel a whole lot safer tonight knowing that a member of AGS is loose lipped and filling his friends in on classified information from an active crime and then said friend comes onto the world wide web anonymously to release this classified information.
Maybe this poster has a surgeon friend who might let us know what celebrity or Government representative is currently seeking medical treatment.

Honestly I get a bad vibe watching that video how he stands, his posture, his eyes. Somethings off with him

His eyes? You can barely see his fcuking head the thing is so pixellated but you're able to analyse his eyes? Drivel.

I remember about 5 or so years back there was an attempted abduction of a girl up in Shankill at a bus stop(up towards Crinken Glen) again, this is sort of the vicinity Hennessy lived in.

On reading that Jastine knew him and it wasn't a random psycho I was reminded of these lines from The Idiot. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be crude.

“Murder by legal sentence is immeasurably more terrible than murder by brigands. Anyone murdered by brigands, whose throat is cut at night in a wood, or something of that sort, must surely hope to escape till the very last minute. There have been instances when a man has still hoped for escape, running or begging for mercy after his throat was cut. But in the other case all that last hope, which makes dying ten times as easy, is taken away for certain. There is the sentence, and the whole awful torture lies in the fact that there is certainly no escape, and there is no torture in the world more terrible.”
    ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Idiot

All please be aware a girl has died. She has friends and family that may well be reading this. Best to keep speculation to a minimum.

I'm just wondering has there been any word on the wife and his family? Has there been any statements made or has she been interviewed yet? It would be very interesting to know this guy's backstory and his family situation. It would certainly help us to understand what happened and why it happened.

I think it's way too soon. As far as we know they are innocent victims as well. Someone on here mentioned the wife being pregnant with her third child.

Her world has been ripped apart.

In time it will all be revealed, as with any crime like this. I'd imagine a statement to the media is the last thing she is thinking of. She is now a single mother to children whose father is a murderer. This is her new life. He's destroyed so many lives.

Why it all of a sudden everyone here is turning into Sherlock feckin Holmes?
A scumbag just murdered a woman. Ruined her families life and his own and his kids. Everyone is like" wonder what his motive was and did he know her etc!" Doesn't matter. No excuse for what he down. If he knew her or if she knew him. It doesn't matter. Look what he done. Now he took the easy way out and was shot. For god sake cop and show respect on it. Offer condolences and shut up. Bit of respect. Few on here using emojis and shît. Grow up.

So, now because one person claims they have information they were having an affair. People take this as gospel.

Even if he did leave a note saying this, does not mean it was actually true. He could have hastily scribbled that as a way to try justify his actions. The guards believe she was dead within 40 mins of being abducted based on the sightings of his car (that was on 9 O'Clock news last night)
News also stated his DNA would be run against unsolved crimes, they could have reason to believe this wasn't his first time doing this, which might blow the concept of an affair out of the water. Unless he's had numerous affairs...

He was in the Ramblers Rest in Ballybrack on Saturday night. That makes me think he has done this before but then leaving the note which told where her body was shows a slight semblance of remorse.

But when did he write the note? My guess is that on Saturday night, he didn't yet realise he was snared, it's possible the guards only had a partial reg at that stage, and hadn't positively identified the perpetrator.

I have to admit to kind of dismissing the initial reports of this when I heard about it, I think it was around 4pm on Sunday, I told my wife it was prob a domestic or family dispute.

Hadn't really been following it too much until I popped into a newsagent in Tullow, and my heart sank when I realised the seriousness of the situation, and that the perpetrator was Irish, because I like to try and believe that things like that just don't happen here.

Thankfully, they are rare in the extreme.

Sick fcuker, to have such disregard and absolute devalue a young woman's life in order to get his own rocks off.

Hope the young lady rests in peace and the families involved (all sides) get the help and support they will undoubtedly need now.

I would hope the media will leave well alone. On the face of what is in the public domain currently, herself and her kids are also victims in this. She has no obligation to make any statement publicly and hopefully the media will respect that.

Exactly, guards say there's no link between them, horrible man leaves note to justify murder and we're just going to take his word for it.

Yeah, let's not do that. Maybe we should leave the sleuthing to the trained professionals. And maybe we should avoid dragging the victim's name through the mud.
