The kind of blanket and aggressive over reaction by some men to these topics being discussed does nothing but show that certain blokes are unwilling to change. That goes for women too that hold sexist attitudes towards other women.

No, it means we are bored listening to the same topics every day.

Unwilling to change what? All this toxic masculinity nonsense is a Dublin media obsession, mainly among middle class, bored women.. It's not a raging topic among the general population.

Ciara is the self appointed cheerleader for the female agenda.

A modern day oestrogen charged Hannibal leading her troop of elephants across the Sugarloaf each morning to put all non conforming men to the sword...... "and all that good stuff"

Think Genghis and his mounds of heads. These media driven extreme feminists want a mound of something else. Clue: The last time Basil bet on a horse he had to have em sown back on after Sybil found out.

It's her level of sanctimony that sent me racing for the off button.

I pity those who are her captive audience though..

I've dipped in and out of listening to Ciaras show, (I'm a former G Hook listener, at least he was amusingly curmudgeonly), I can't "take to her" at all. We are both women, similar age, Irish etc; but I find her painful to listen to.

As others posted, she's turned into a female Ray D'Arcy - another presenter I liked years ago until he transformed into "sanctimonious porridge & running guy".

They are all sanctimonious now. They can't be anything but in a politically correct driven World.

It's a vanilla style ,PC, right on snowflakey type of media in general now.

It's kind of sad that were leaning towards Hook and Yates to push against the tide.

I reckon a full on,headstrong opinionated presenter who ruffles a few feathers would go down a treat, and their gender is irrelevant to me.

I'm just looking for something or someone that sticks it's neck out above the parapet, and not afraid to be either wrong or unpopular with opinions.

That "head above the parapet" will be chopped off in short time by our biased media. You can't contradict the groupthink. The sad thing is that the majority of them seem to really swallow the bulls*** and think they are sooooo... liberal and right on. Bubble mentality in my opinion.

I'm exactly the same! I should be liking her as same age(ish), Irish and a woman but Jesus I find her painful!
I think you hit the nail on the head tho she is so like just a female version of boring PC Ray Darcy.
It's becoming a very boring radio world Theese days with them all trying to outdo themselves being feminist and politically correct and culturally aware for each and every minority. Radio has no edge anymore. I honestly think George Hook was far far more interesting than Ciara and I hate to say it but Sean Moncreiffe too. ( I still like him but he's getting so feminist by the day it's annoying)

I listen to appoximately 11 hours of radio each day Monday to Friday and have done for many years.
I can never remember a more ubiquitously plain and lacklustre selection of monotone radio choices.
Little to no difference between switching dials.

    We need a revolution! :)

I feel Ivan has been reigned in a lot since his return and George getting the boot not long thereafter.

I find it hard to believe that 6 months ago George was on air openly questioning immigration and being an "Islamophobe"

Yates is a jack the lad in comparison.

    Agreed.
It's a shame 'ol Hooky wasn't 15 years younger today, with lots of fire and brimstone in his belly for years to come.

Yates, even though I am partial to his faux naivety and outrage theatrics,is only a pretender to the throne.

There are no fresh faces imo coming through the ranks in that ilk of any note.

Bleak mundane airwave times ahead methinks.

    It's the opposite of liberal.
We're back at the Salem Witch Trials.
It's Arthur Miller's The Crucible just now.
Anyone who deviates from the script will be torn limb from limb.

Political correctness gone mad, gone mad.

Jaysus the victims of the PC oppression are out in full force, the world has been very tough on them the poor craythurs. I can never tell if "PC gone mad" is a parody or if it's genuine (or if its Paul Williams is posting). Stuart Lee as it right - it can be clumsy but it's better than what we had before.

Unrelated to above, almost with you on that, no issues with feathers being ruffled but there's a whole class of media personality (Hook, Ian O'Doherty, Katie Hopkins, Clarkson) who made ruffling feathers their thing, controversial for the sake of being controversial, because if they weren't out and out controversial there would not be much too them. You could paint a wall white and they'll tell you it's black because their paycheck depends on it.

Im sorry, but this is nonsense. There's nothing good about policing peoples' thoughts and making certain things unsayable. As another comedian said "Political correctness is fascism pretending to be manners. Does it not bother you that there is one ideological viewpoint that completely dominates RTE/NEWSTALK etc.

In relation to your second paragraph, look what happened to Hook. The minute he fell foul of the feminism cult he was sacked. How often is someone like Ian O'Doherty on television or the airwaves?

I have to laugh at that one, which I see all the time, heaven forbid these people have a different opinion than the accepted norm. No, of course, they are just being provocative, much easier to dismiss that way.

    Hello Pot, this is Kettle.

Does it not happen much more often that a presenter or is said to be just being PC because that is what is required on that particular station or because of some other "liberal" agenda?

All sides of guilty of focusing on their echo chamber and thinking that they are the ones being persecuted.

What's the problem with that ?

Are you afraid of hearing something you might disagree with

3 of the people you called out have effectively been silenced by you and the sheep that follow the PC ideology you aspire to.

The silencing of your critics is probably the most worrying trend.

History repeats itself and in the past, the silencing of critics has almost always led to some form of tyranny.

We live in interesting yet dangerous times..

I personally think we should all set out to offend at least one liberal at least once a day.

If we all keep doing it maybe someday they'll finally get the message that

    - Being offended is a choice
    - Choosing to be offended doesn't offer you any extra rights, ever
    - Most of us honestly don't care that you've chosen to be offended.

The sooner these people realise this maybe the sooner they'll snap out of this nonsense and back to the real world where **** actually happens and learn to deal with it.

I'm only surprised you find this an issue given she's the only woman host during the day time schedule. It's like complaining they only show soccer on Match of the Day.

The irony of this given that the last few pages have pretty much all been posted by people not happy and disagreeing with what they're hearing on air by 'liberal' Ciara Kelly.

So applying your logic,a female presenter should dedicate her show to 95% female leaning topics..... hmmm.

I don't have any problems with Ciara Kellys gender. It's irrelevant to me. It's her very amateur and clumsy presenting skills and egocentric topics that rile me.

I like Jeremy Clarkson but he was not silenced. Would you get away with being drunk and hitting another employee in your job?

The logic is that nobody should be surprised if the daytime's schedule only female host has a leaning towards female topics. Hmmm indeed, who'd'a thunk it.

Not at all, I would never dispute the fact that those people genuinely have those views, that's the difference.

A liberal agenda would be that the powers that be are selecting people on the basis of having such views in the main. The recent trend in this area across all forms of media and in most developed countries to me at least suggests that this is pretty much happening, and is on the side of feminism, open borders and all that good stuff.

Andrea Giligan is a much superior broadcaster to Kelly. She seems more natural and her tone is much more pleasant to the ear. Not to mention the dreaded 'Kelly cackle'. Ugh.

Just reading back some of the comments over the last few days and the mention of Katie Hopkins reminded me of someone I hadn't heard of in a while......I've very little time for Hopkins but I would love if Kelly had Hopkins on as a guest someday. It would be "interesting". :pac:

I agree. Let the two of those alpha females go head to head, let them slug it out on an inflatable dinghy.........in the mid Atlantic........wearing golf shoes.

    Win win...
