Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not on TV as such, but wasn't sure were to post it.

Six Shooter - won Best Short Film, Live Action Oscar in 2006.

Available to watch online by Film4 to mark release of Martin McDonagh's new movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Martin McDonagh's Oscar-winning black comedy about a train journey where an older man (Brendan Gleeson), whose wife has died that morning, encounters a strange and possibly psychotic young oddball (Rúaidhrí Conroy). As the journey progresses, things take several turns for the worse for the bereaved widower...

    Les Combatants/Love at First Fight

Film 4 at 1.55am tonight(tomorrow morning). French film about a young guy who joins an army training program after meeting a girl who is obsessed with becoming an elite soldier because she's basically expecting the end of the world. I hesitate to call it a rom-com but it's quite light hearted and the two leads are engaging and enjoyable to watch, especially Adèle Haenel who has been in a couple of more high profile films since.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil is on The Horror Channel (which I believe is on Freesat etc) at 10pm.

It's a brilliant horror/slasher comedy, very silly and very funny.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Having recorded this - I finally got round to watching it this weekend.

    Weird, grim, grueling......and bloody fantastic!!
    I was gripped.

I'd forgotten what a great director Friedkin was, at the top of his game

Clear some space, just record this cos it may not be shown again for years (or it could be on again next week, you know how it is) Film4 tonight at 11 PM ish.

    DANGER DIABOLIK!

It's more 60s than Mary Quant on a Vespa with Austin Powers hanging off the back

    More dodgy recommendations from moi

Horror channel double bill Saturday - The Sentinel at 10.50 and The Guardian straight after it. The first is often reckoned to be Michael Winners most dubious credit. But what a cast! Chris Sarandon, Ava Gardner, José Ferrer, John Carradine, Burgess Meredith, Beverly D'Angelo, Jerry Orbach, Jeff Goldblum, Tom Berenger and Christopher Walken. Plus Dick Smith make up effects.

    Trailer

Then William Friedkin's The Guardian, which apparently is barking mad.

This is a very fun film. Old school kids adventure film like the kind Disney used to make in the 80s and 90s.

Kisses is on RTÉ 2 at 0:30 tonight/tomorrow morning. Brilliant little Irish film from Lance Daly about two Dublin kids who run away to the city to escape their crappy home lives. There's some gritty realism hanging over it all the time but also a kind of magic coming from the kids and their innocence. Really worth staying up for or setting the DVR.

I saw it again a few years back, and while it has dated somewhat poorly as you'd expect, it's still good cheesey fun. Obviously, being in anthology form means some parts are more entertaining than others!

This afternoon (16:15) TV3 is showing Hulk, the one directed by Ang Lee in 2003. I really enjoyed this one for its style and its different take on the superhero story, and I don't understand some of the negative reviews it got. Lots of "Hulk Smash!" but also a strong focus on character development and the side-effects of super-powers.
This started on E4 half an hour ago, but if you get E4+1, it starts on there @ 7:20 PM!

You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
