I wonder who will do the English commentary. If its the current C4 guys I'm in.

Who is doing the world feed atm? I fear that it is Sky. And someone said Casey is on the board of Sky, so he might have an interest in that.
But as they could go to competition to Sky in the future, they might want to build it up with Edwards and DC.
Anyway for 12 bucks a month and 50 for Sky, it is a no brainer to do that.

I was thinking this - US broadcasters will be piggybacking off the Sky coverage . I would imagine that it is going to be Sky and presumably that's the reason that they won't be rolling it out in the UK just yet.

Sky UK/Australia have exclusive TV rights that include online broadcast until 2025. That's why we won't see it in Ireland for a long time. But that will help to iron the startup issues out.

Autosport reporting Renault already planning strategic grid penalties.

Formula 1 needs to go back to being motor racing. Its a joke these days. All that money for this nonsense

3 unit max this year. I would expect to see quite a lot of it. Horner said they expect to use 5 PUs this year anyway, so the limit doesnt really do anything expect make teams take a penalty.

There was snow at Silverstone in April for the WEC a few years ago. The photos were fantastic.

Yeah, a lot of reports were coming out from within F1 journalists that the TR Honda was going to be very good this year and some speculated it may even be a shock contender at the top.

Only early days testing but good signs.

Paper never refused ink. But for winter testing journalists should be given ink-phobic paper for reporting anything except the number of laps completed and reliability issues.

Early days yet but I always hold out for stories about sauber as championship contenders. That’s when you know there’s no actual news to report.

Hey guys, made myself a table for first two days of testing. It's sorted by number of laps attempted by the team, rather than fastest. Included the fastest driver of those laps too.

Just threw it together and think it's accurate but if there are any mistakes let me know.

    Team| Laps| Fastest Time| Fastest Driver | Tyres
    Toro Rosso| 201| 1:21.318| Gasly | Softs
    Ferrari|178| 1:19:673| Vettel |Softs
    Mercedes|177| 1:19:976| Bottas | Mediums
    Williams|174|1:21.495|Kubica|Softs
    RedBull| 172| 1:20:179| Ricciardo| Mediums
    Sauber|144|1:22.721| Leclerc| Softs
    Renault| 138|1:20.547| Hulkenberg|Softs
    Force India| 101|1:21.841| Ocon|Softs
    Haas|91|1:22.578| Grosjean| Softs
    McLaren|88|1:20.325|Vandoorne| Hypersofts

Some footage of the first day.

First thing that stuck out to me was how hard it was to see the drivers with the halo, good luck to the commentators in 2018.

That's why they have numbers on the cars now so the commentators can tell which driver it is and everyone else too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Mclaren putting race distances together. Mechanics will have a lot more free time this year

Anyone know what happened to Red Bull this morning. Either way Verstappen eventually went out and set the fastest time on his first flying lap! Impressive for the first lap of the day but tis only testing. He immediately got pipped by Bottas though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,915 ✭✭✭Mike Litoris

Ok, now everyone is putting in faster times! Either Verstappen woke everyone up or the track suddenly got drier! :p

If it's dry he probably went out on the kitten softs.

    This too shall pass.

Not sure the times offer anything right now, the track temp is creeping up and everyone is improving. At one point Magnussen went fastest for example
