Gasly looking good, if he convincingly gets the better of Hartley this season he should have a good future in F1. LeClerc is obviously the biggest prospect to come in since Verstappen but Gasly should be solid.

That's why they have numbers on the cars now so the commentators can tell which driver it is and everyone else too.

Eh, the cars have always had numbers on them. Plus they are mostly the same colour, just the Merc has differing colours for their drivers.

Honda's reliability looking a HELL of a lot better this year than the same point last year. If this had been last year I'd have been getting excited (as a McLaren fan!). I still don't think they'll match the pace of the Renault PU though.

Aston Martin will go bust before that happens, I reckon they only have the resources for advertising. I still expect Porsche to come in with Red Bull at some stage probably 2021.
I can see Toro Rosso being sold though.

    Jesus...Hamilton throws in a 1:19 on mediums.

And here I was hoping for a competitive 2018.

Vettel has Ferrari's fastest time of the test so far set on Softs and 3 tenths slower than Hamilton's best. Never know the setups and test plans so the gaps may not come to pass by Melbourne

The only hope is that Ferrari and Red Bull can get close and Mercedes suffers from a bit of bad luck but any other outcome other than another title from Hamilton would be a major shock.

    Any force India news lads?
Are they looking middle of the road again?

Red Bull aren't having a great day today it seems.

Not the full package on show just yet, the front and rear wing are last years, so the car has a bit to go yet, same with McLaren.

I do not think this is there year but if they keep improving as they have been the last two years then maybe in a few years maybe they will be able to challenge at the front.

Aston Martin are too small to buy Red Bull. Honda could maybe buy Toro Rosso and even Red Bull.

I want to see Hartley do well so hope you are wrong about Gasly being better than him.

I never said the cars did not have numbers on them just that they are on the cars so you can tell which driver it is. The Mclaren numbers are blue and they were different to everyone else last year too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

The numbers are tiny from a distance, even when they increased the sizes of them recently, it does nothing to help ID the driver.

I could see the T-cams being of more use.

Maybe the Halo should be painted in the driver's helmet colours.

I'd love it if the first bass guitar notes we know from The Chain were used. First couple of seconds of that. F1 logo on screen, "commentary from David Coulthard and Ben Edwards" done.

    This too shall pass.

Country you go, F1 music intro you find - FUJI TV's is one of the best for me:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpetjnhGbUs

For some weird reason, in the 1980s and early 1990s often RAI in Italy used the Japanese video feed (with obviously Italian commentary). I know I have this music associated with F1 since a very early age.

The there's "The Chain"...but I'm sure they'll spend inordinate amount of money and make much fanfare when they come up with something utterly unsuitable, "youth friendly" and "progressive". Be ready for a "dubstep" or "mumble rap" theme song...

I sort of liked the original "Just Drive" song on the Sky F1 credits, when they played the song over footage. Sure it was cheesy but I grew to like it. Now they don't play the song fully and the intercut bits of speech from the commentators, which I don't like.

Rich Energy (energy drinks company) to announce a £200m bid to buy Force India.

    https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/finance/city/927078/Rich-Energy-buy-Formula-1-team-Force-India-for-200m/amp

It would be great for FI to get some big investment and great for the sport to be rid of a scumbag like Vijay Mallya
