Need to buy a washdown pump and sump pump... for a 12 unit
At the moment i am on the water scheme so main thing is I want to use as little water as possible water will be going from plate cooler to IBC tank and from IBC to pump
I was looking at a 2hp washdown pump but im told this will use a full ibc in 5 minutes would this be right? ... also if any of ye have bought recently could ye tell me a few of the good pumps and where to buy them because i hear some are bad with no power.
As for the sump pump anyone i ring are trying to sell me one with a grinder and that is making it run into fierce money has everyone one with the grinder or would an ordinary sump pump do i would be watching hairs and anything i think that might block it ..
Also lastly what size water heater do i need for a 12 unit .. thanks

It will only use it up in 5mins with nozzle fully opened, which you won't need for clusters etc. How many cows you got? The ideal water:milk flow rate is 2:1 in the plate cooler, 100 cows doing 20l/day your plate cooler should be knocking out 4 full ibcs, or call it 2 each milking, stack 2 ibcs on top of eachother and connect into the pump if your worried. However I've only 1 ibc and rarely run out when washing down. I think I got mine in mps in cork, the 2hp is plenty strong enough I think bar you got a massive yard to wash down.

And on the sump pump, no grinder on the one here, it gets blocked up every few months but I haven't put a proper mesh over the sum, usually small stones, then blockage of hair and tape from cow's tails and I don't see how the grinder will solve that?

Would they ever use those tankers on the field?
Contractor here had two 3000 gallon tankers but would never have them on the field even in the summer. Just drawing to the umbilical.

24 cows calved in the last 18 hrs. Just home now need bed. We have a guy coming in for next 3 weeks 4 nights per week as we'll be hitting peak calving.
