I had a problem with Bluetooth and my Polar heart rate monitor.
It was fine on Nougat but would not work on Oreo.

Found this link which refers to Bluetooth car issues.
It seems there are 3 versions of Bluetooth available on the Mi A1.

    AVRCP 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6.

1.4 would not work for me but 1.5 was fine.

    https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-XZ-Premium/After-Oreo-update-cant-get-bluetooth-media-working-in-my-Mini/td-p/1273218#gref

    Try this workaround:

Unpair both devices from each other.
Go to Settings -> System -> About phone -> tap multiple times on "Build number" until you enable "Developer options"
Go back to Settings -> System -> Developer options -> Networking -> Bluetooth AVRCP Version -> Choose AVRCP 1.4 or 1.5
    Restart your phone
    Pair devices and test.

Thanks so much for the info. Will try this a little later. Great info

Anybody buy the Mi A1 from Amazon.es ? I ordered mine on the 4th and it hasn't even shipped yet. It was (and still is in stock) when I ordered it.
I ordered on Monday afternoon last week (5th) - both black and gold. Received them on Friday (I live in France though). They shipped on Tuesday afternoon

hey guys can you charge up the mi a1 using the supplied usb c charging cable and any standard previous usb charger avoiding the use of a power adapter of will there be some power voltage issues ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,145 ✭✭✭paddy19

The C type USB cable will work with any USB adapter.

Obviously charging time will vary depending on the output voltage/current of the adapter.

I got a decent one on ebay. I can't find the link for it but it's a generic style one. Black rubberised kind of plastic with a carbon fibre effect on two panels at the top and bottom on the back. The cutouts for fingerprint sensor, camera etc are accurate and the front edge is just above the screen allowing the phone to be placed face down on a flat surface without risk of scratching. If I find the link I'll post it here later.

Jaysus I posted this before I saw NATLOR's post above! This is the exact case and glass protector I got!

Does anyone know the difference with the Spanish version?

Short answer, very little difference between the Spanish and global version.

    Long answer.

The difference between the various country/region versions is the numbers of frequency bands on the phone. The global version tends to have the broadest range.

Take a look at GSMArena and you can see what version has what band.

    https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_a1-8776.php

You can see the Spanish version on the Mi.es site.

Spanish version is fine for Europe but doesn't have the full set of frequencies of the global v

    Thank you.
How are you finding the phone?

This is an excellent phone. Android One is great, no bloat ware. 4G ram means you can load any amount of apps. It's lightning fast. Can't fault it.

Order from Amazon to get the full two year guarantee. I got stung with a moto G that died after 15 months and Moto didn't want to know.

It said 5-7 working days. I ordered Monday night so hopefully get it by Wednesday at the latest. Tracking info is a bit vague. It has been packed, sent to courier, in courier depot and on way to courier. I'm translating that as meaning it left HK and is on it's way to DHL UK

And according to this site, it does have NFC

Funny feeling that is a fake leak. Nothing on miui forums or /r/xiaomi about it.

Plus it is the Chinese New Year holidays at present, so I doubt it would be launched during that.

Hows the camera on this. I need a decent camera but certainly doesn't need to be top of the range

That's pretty much how I'd describe the camera, decent if not top range. It's quick, and decent in good light. It does good macro photos.
Poor in low light, but most cameras are.

Is the price quoted on the eglobal website what you will pay or can you get charged more for customs ?
I emailed them that question but got no response.
They seem to be the cheapest but their rating isn't great on some review sites.

I was wrong. Eglobalcentral.eu don't charge import duties.

Somewhere in my wanderings I got lost and confused and pickup up Term and Conditions that said the customer owned duties and VAT from some other site.

    Eglobal clearly state in 17.

    at https://www.eglobalcentral.eu/terms-and-conditions-eu.html

    "17. Import, VAT & Customs

17.1 To simplify the process of buying internationally, eglobal central choose to handle the process of custom clearance for customers. ......As a result, prices shown on this website are the final total you have to pay to have the order delivered to your door, without any hidden charges and customs delay"

What is truly weird is that they are not shouting this from the rooftops on the website. The only place they state it is in the T & C's.

Wrong informatio from me.€186 is a hell of a price but it does not include the dreaded VAT of 23% or handling charge.

Nothing on the site on where it ships from.

Does say you are responsible for import duty and charges.

    23% = €43 plus handlers fee of €10 gets you to 186+43+10= €239

Amazon.es will deliver it for €240

    I'd spend the extra Euro.
