People don't usually use deodorant to mask BO. They use it to enhance their scent.

People also don't things that add a nice scent in rooms in their home just to mask a smell.

the marketeers have you, best of luck

That was me and I expected people that go to the gym first thing in the morning after not showering for 24 hours to shower before they go to the gym.

fúk that that's lunacy! then I'd be showering twice in a 2 hour period!

    Lol.

So you think that everyone that uses deodorant uses it to mask BO?

If you think thats ok then no amount of convincing would change your mind.

Yeah, you're in the smallest of minorites there I imagine. Get up, shower, gym, shower? Absolute princess stuff.

Very serious, the deodorant world was created by very clever marketers, shamming us about what is only natural, their aim, to sell a product that solves a problem of their making. It's clever stuff and works very well. If you think you have a bo problem, it maybe to do with your diet more than anything, and whatever else you consume. Wash regularly folks, you ll be grand.

Completely agree. I use antiperspirant occasionally if I'm wearing a suit. That's it. BO comes from not washing, deodorant has nothing to do with it.

No. They use it because they've been conditioned by marketing to believe it's needed.

I hate the smell of deodorant. It smells like chemicals. So do air fresheners for rooms, disgusting yokes. I have a very sensitive sense of smell, I can't stand fake scents. Some scented candles are ok, incense makes me sick.

Ready for a shock? I rarely shower every 24 hours, unless I work out 2 days in a row. My skin will be in bits if I showered every day. I don't smell of BO, I would be told. I work with some very honest people and I've asked after debates like this.

O yay here comes the debate about people who shower twice a day and ones who shower once a week. Been a few years since I seen this pop up again.

Do they?? it smells vile, I've had to move racks at the gym before to get away from people who've had a deo shower before they arrived, granted I'm very sensitive to strong artificial smells, I can only wear unscented anti perspirant and I can't wear perfume at all. I'd much rather smell a real human next to me than all those chemicals.

Actually that's a gym annoyance of mine, one of the trainers in my gym wears so much deo/perfume to the gym I can smell it for the day, I have to move every time she comes near me!

Excellent idea.. To keep annoying people away from me I'm bringing a can of Lynx onto the gym floor this evening (not true because I have Judo this evening), and I'll be spraying myself liberally with it.

Any particular scent works best?.. I like Lynx Africa

You hate the smell or deodorants, therefore everyone else has been duped.

    Got it.

Agreed. Showering before every workout is not practical.

Oddly enough I shower mid training sessions. I start most gym visits with 30-40 mins of cardio (some from of HIIT usually), my gear does be wringing wet with sweat after that so it a quick shower and change of clothes back out to do weights. I must admit it can be hard to get motivated again to do the weights after having a shower and bringing the heart rate back down but there's no way I could continue the workout after the cardio without stinking the joint up.

Thats a very strange thing to do, i cant imagine doing that. I just take a few mins, do some stretches/mobility stuff and straight to weights area.No one cares, sure the amount of protein farts floating around the place stinks the place up more than any sweat would 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,951 ✭✭✭caviardreams

Or you could swap it around even - do weights and then do cardio?

I'd have thought a big towel might suffice but, to be fair, he's trying to not leave pools of sweat on the benches. There would be more uproar about 'the mankbag that left his sweat all over the benches' if he didn't.

If your priority is cardio, it goes first.

If your priority is cardio then you do a cardio day I reckon.

If I'm going to the gym and want to do some mild cardio, I'd tend to do it after a warm up, stretching and some weights rather than the other way around, idea being you're not tired doing weights after the cardio - can lead to tired/poor form
