Still snowing away here in Carlow town, has been since about 5'ish. Must be a good 3 inches down so far :-)

I’m super sad here. Could have done with a win today but instead it’s miserable rain and lesson planning for tomorrow. No fun in the snow

South Roscommon here just outside Athlone and there's about 3cm with a moderate fall rate right now.

What does everyone think of Met Eireann’s performance here? Yesterday they were predicting significant accumulations of snow in Dublin but all it did was rain. I know of a couple of events that were cancelled on the basis of that forecast. Can they ever get anything right??

Just drove from Hollywood, west Wicklow to Kimmage in Dublin, only sleet at home and as far as Blessington where is started to turn to snow, road between Blessington and Brittas was progressively worse,at Brittas there was 2-3 cm slushy snow on N81, about 3-4 inches of lying snow and full on blizzard,on the top of Embankment hill snow depth reached about 4 inches and it was progressively less until Saggart turn where about 1/2 inch laid on grass, nothing in Tallaght, was surprised how come Hollywood had 1.5c yet N81 Baltinglass in one of the coldest spots and now we are same as Tallaght 1.5,very disappointed as Brittas and Manor Kilbride were -0.5C and 2-4 inches of snow, normally Hollywood follows but now we are 2 degrees warmer yet nearly @ 200m.asl,stupid SE winds

Was it not always a touch and go scenario?

gerry murphy said snow "away from east coast for leinster'' so that seems to have been correct

If you've been following this you would know it's a knife edge situation, a change in wind direction is all it would take for Dublin to have looked the same as the Midlands this morning. They also only had us on a yellow warning, chance of snow basically - pretty much a bang on forecast. Also higher ground in Dublin has got snow so...

They didn't predict that for Dublin (except maybe Dublin mountains).

So many great snow photos around the country! Really hit and miss in the East, danger now of all this rain freezing later

because these are marginal events, a warm front with heavy moisture hitting cold air. Some areas will see lots of rain and some will see lots of wet snow / snow

Once you get a few miles south of thurles and on the motorway you’ll be fine. Also it’s 6 degrees here in Clonmel and raining.
