About 1-2 inches in Athlone. Pretty mucky stuff TBH...sort of a snow “crust” with puddles of icy slushy underneath. I’d say it would be fairly treacherous on the roads

Sticking quite well here, starting to get over my walking boots in places. We have 2 inches of rain all over, even on the mountains.

What's the best way to see how the Tuam-Limerick motorway (M18 I think) is for ice/snow?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,100 ✭✭✭trixiebust

Grey skies & nothing but rain in Tipperary town for the last few hours :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭carltonleon

Nothing but lashing rain all night in Swords and still chucking it down now .... very jealous. Not a white flake in sight

  • Registered Users Posts: 980 ✭✭✭barney 20v

The rain is turning to sleet in Enniscorthy, baby steps after a night of rain with some heavy spells. Only a few miles away there's snow falling, the Mount Leinster effect.

    6 miles from you!

.......but I have the cold, that's why I was up at 5.30 sniffling & sneezing......but your welcome!!

    Got a text from WCC.

SALLY GAP Wicklow County Council wishes to advise that the SALLY GAP and approach roads are impassable.

Please, anybody thinking of going up there for the craic, spare a thought for the people, some volunteers, who will have to give up their Sunday to come and rescue you if you mess it up, and don't go up there.

So much fun you seem to have fallen over unnoticed

Steady snowfall since around 5.30am here in south east Carlow (near Mt. Leinster). A signicant accumulation already has built up. Roof of the car has 4 inches current depth of untouched snow. Snow has turned heavier in the last 30 minutes. Kids out having great fun!

Enjoy and stay safe if out and about. Roads have a lot of surface water and ice in places under the snow.

Just 55M - more to do with the photo taken with a long lens (200mm for anyone interested) - compresses the falling snow. Complete blanket across all the fields in this area,. Magical!

From the verge in an overturned car, sadly. Don't travel unless absolutely necessary.
