Hardly a tradition, it's done out of necessity.

It's not like a farmer goes "cmon lads, time for our annual walk with the cows on the road"

Thanking the bus driver when he stops at the bus stop!

Happens in London too, so not such an Irish thing.

The last thing that should be happening on a thar, or even a bóithrín, of course.

Very Nordie thing, the "good" room.

    Here's another house one.
Maybe a country thing, but never using the front door to enter your house.
Also country folk who never open the windows even in a heatwave.

And western Europe and America too. I don't know were the idea came from that its an Irish custom.

Voting for FFG time and again despite screwing the Irish people over since their inception and will continue to do so until the end of time.

Those patronising 3 cheers for the losing All Ireland finalists i think after losing a major final they just want to exit the field as fast as possible.

    1. Irish singers singing Country songs in an American accent. Makes me laugh.

    2. Sending someone over a pint in a pub because they did something for you and a wee while later they send you back one. Defeats the purpose.

if only some of the people that do drink would follow that when they are dealing with people that don't drink at all or just not alcohoics. some people get all freaked out when someone says they don't drink

I'm only talking about some people.
to some people anyone who isn't an alcoholic its a lightweight or some kind of pussy.

not everyone that drinks is an alcoholic. you are putting words in my mouth. that's not what I said and you know it

also how do you know if I'm in any position to criticise

Am I the only person who doesn't know what an immersion is? It seems most Irish stand ups base their acts on whatever it is.
Also - the good room? Wtf does that mean? Being from Dublin, maybe these are culchie things or something.

If people around you think that then you need to change your acquaintances.

Going back to your earlier post what entitlement do drinkers have?

sometime you cant choose , sometimes they are related to you;);)

obviously not all drinkers . but some (these are also the people that are horrible people in general).

I don't drink very much . I don't get any enjoyment out of it. 1 or 2 and I'm happy. I would rather drive and let someone else drink.

the amount of times I get mocked, sneered at, or laughed at would open your eyes to it.
then you have people that force drink on you or put in stupid amount to get you drunk.

its easier to just not drink than put up with these ass holes

Christmas f*cking jumpers. They think think they are great craic because they are wearing a Christmas jumper or a santy hat. You can tell by the stupid knowing looks on their faces.

Some Dublin houses must have immersions. There are companies in Dublin which repair them. If Des Bishop is most Irish stand ups you may have a point.

RTE can educate you on the subject of the good room.

Must be a culchie thing because none of my friends or relatives had anything called a good room. God I'm so glad I'm from Dublin.
