Thanks, BP, I meant to check today but things got a wee bit busy.

So you must keep the animal till the withdrawl is up so there should be no selling of stock that has been treated with a drug, never mind stating there is a prescription rug in their system?
I always understood that you were not suppose to sell stock within the withdrawal period. However, I have sold stock that would have been wormed/fluke dosed prior to the expiration of the withdrawal period but I would inform the purchaser prior to a deal been done. See - http://www.apha.ie/Documents/Safe_Use_of_Livestock_Medicines.pdf
It appears that the goalposts have now changed and you can now sell medicated animals as long as they are not going directly for slaughter or milk/eggs for human consumption.

    It says sell for slaughter
That wouldn't rule out a mart sale
    The treatment would be declared
That of course couldn't be done by a dairy farmer as it's prohibited under the bord bia audit

It says for slaughter (meat) or sale of animal produce e.g. milk/eggs.
No- It does not rule out mart sales.
Yes,the treatment would/should be declared
TBH - I wouldn't be up to date on the quango that is Bord Bia - I quit chasing that dragon years ago

Ya, I'm seriously considering it this yr, I had to cull a couple of heifers in the spring that picked up ecoli mastitis, I know improved hygiene could have helped, but it was during peak calving days. Thinking of calling in the hoof paring lad wit the turnover crate to insert the sealers this yr.
