Maybe he should wear some different socks. That seems to work for the media.

OK, that's the Sun's editorial stance. More importantly though, what is Desperate Dan and The Dandy's opinion?

Oh wow, what a nasty piece.

"He is too busy disrespecting 17.4million voters of a country whose billions stopped Ireland going bust as recently as 2010."

Some angry people in the Sun!

Will this appear in the Irish version?

Are we sure someone didn't just fotoshop a sun banner onto a WaterfordWhispers article?

It should be helping make Brexit work for millions of his citizens and ours, including by engaging constructively on a border solution.
By boosting American trust and have them build a nice fence along the border?

Watch the British media get much, much, much more Europhobic and xenophobic in the next few years as they deflect blame for everything away from their Tory clowns on to various non-British institutions and people. Watch the 'poor Brits' victim culture surge amid lower corporate taxes and inferior working conditions. All blamed on the EU.

That scapegoating is the one absolute certainty of Brexit. They're all out of step but our Johnny.

It's the right wing mainstream media your talking about here. You're right, they will use the tactics you describe, but there was a big percentage of people in the UK who didn't vote for brexit. There's plenty of media out there to read in the UK that doesn't toe the same line.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

The sun is gutter rag. I wouldn't use it to wipe.

    Absolutely ****e paper

That type of gutter press has its market though sadly

Ah The Sun. The moral bastion of phone hacking and invented stories of football fans pissing on the dead.

Gay, "Arish" and a little bit brown. I'm surprised the super soaraway Sun's collective undies haven't exploded.

The U.K. left wing papers won’t get more xenophobic but will get more russiaphobic

It's a rubbish paper. They are going to get the shock of their lives when all is said and done. They've ****ed their economy by being easily lead by the national war spirit and deserve what they are going to get.

I'm still staggered that they were enough of them stupid enough to do this to themselves.

Yep. A rubbish paper. But a rubbish paper with the highest circulation of any paper in the UK.

Also, you aren't allowed to say people that voted for brexit are stupid. Clearly they were, but you can't say it. That is why they voted to leave, because people said they were stupid.

Says a lot about its readers there! No wonder they were so easily lead.

Do you know the circulation of it here?

The "facts" aren't really what the Sun is interested in, though.

Neither it would appear were the British people that voted for brexit. "Gung ho" dosn't even do them justice.

I 'm far from socialist but British society works on us and them and on keeping "them" in the gutter. Unfortunately most of the gutter voted the same as some well off tories who still didn't come to terms with the loss of empire. UK is probably the most unequal society in Europe and Brexit is the result of it. Sun is just helping to cement that inequality with making sure they produce a newspaper that is as dumb as possible. It's a stupidity carefully cultivated through the history that brought on Brexit.

It's the sun. It's got about as much journalistic merit as a KFC menu.

Was thinking the same. 'Puerile' Well, lah de dah.

A word that neatly sums up the paper itself.

I truly hope Ireland makes every effort to avoid a hard border (including vetoes and anything else that is within our power). Dividing this island will hurt us way too much. The 'funny' thing is that the south of Ireland cares a million times more about the north of Ireland than England, Scotland and Wales combined. If only people in the north could see that.

The UK shot itself in the genitals by voting yes to Brexit. They still have the old colonial mindset that they are a global power. Truth is, they are nothing more than one of the bigger European countries on the global stage. Voting out of Europe will come back to bite them in the ass so hard. But it will take 10/20 years for that reality to set in with enough of them.

In the mean time, Ireland has to advocate for what is best for us. And I support the rhetoric that Leo has come out with so far regarding this.

It's a wonder they included Leo Varadkar's name...they usually don't go beyond one or two syllables...and that's only the editorial staff.

The readers get confused if there's anything more than one...."tits" or "arse" to be specific. In fact, it's lucky that women only have two breasts...any more would confuse them...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,104 ✭✭✭Oldtree

All jokes aside, isn't it shocking that odious cúnts like Murdoch use their bogroll papers to further their own agenda, whipping up all sorts of negative sentiment in people who for whatever reason* don't know any better.

*mainly being very stupid and easily lead I'd guess.

"The Sun" requires a reading age of 8, which is just about functionally literate. Not too many abstract ideas. Short sentences. PICTURES!!!!

Yeah, great idea. Issue is something like 1.5m people in the UK buy it every day and believe everything it prints, assuming they actually read it, of course.

I'd love to be Leo now. It would be very satisfying to respond to every point they've made seeing as half of it is nonsense. Completely fruitless though, probably better to just formally respond with "LOL!" and start winding them up.

Yeah, same as Trump voters. But you can't call them stupid, cos, you know, then they'll just keep voting stupid out of spite.
