    Yep, fastest clocked DC2 Type-R was 0-60 in 6.1s

    Linky

I didn't realise it was that quick!

Don't get me wrong the Audi's are nice places to sit and the BnO sound system is fantastic but the diesel lets it down.

The A3 has quattro too but tbh you'd need it in a leaf a lot more lol.

People pay extra to get massage seats... With a diesel you get feet massage for free!

There was lots of speculation on here about the charge specs of the 2018 Leaf. Speculating it would have 3 phase charging etc.

    It appears not.

A Nissan dealer in the UK just posted:
Just had an email stating that the 22kW charger is a low-power Chademo, rather than a 3ph 32A AC like the Zoe. So the actual wall charger itself does the AC to DC conversion, rather than the car.

Means it will be a cheaper semi-Rapid install for businesses, but also means that you wouldn't be able to plug into an AC rapid charger and get any more than 7kW single phase charging.

So that means single phase 6.6kW AC charging and the normal 50kW DC Chademo charging but they are now also offering a separate 22kW Chademo DC charger that you can install assuming you have the power to drive it, so mainly for commercial users I'd say. No idea on price.

Since street AC charging is a completely unscalable solution , I see no point in high power AC chargers situated in the car

We have a lot of 22 Kw charge points, why not use them to their full potential ?

AC charging is quiet convenient, come back to a charged car drive off, not need to find and wait at a DC point !

But how much would an standard across all trims 22 kW charger add to the cost of Nissan? And they would have another selling point - up to 22 kW charger on AC.

I see Nissan Fermoy are selling new Leaf 2018 for 31190, ouch, seams a bit harsh and no mention of the scrappage deal.

    Anyone seen any better ?

That "Spring Cloud" is a very distinctive colour. Quite like it!

Ha... fermoy nissan have put up a 2018 Leaf pre-order advert on carzone:

    It says....

NISSAN LEAF 40KW PRE ORDER SPECIAL OFFER
    €31,190 0 KM ELECTRIC
NEW 2018 LEAF PREMIUM - PRE ORDER SPECIAL - . 40KW Battery * Choice of 2 colours Spring Cloud or Black Metallic .*

6.6 KW charger * e-Pedal which enables you to speed up & slow down with just the accelerator pedal , making for a smoother drive * ProPILOT - it comes complete with Nissan’s intelligent ProPILOT technologies to protect the driver and support you on the road * Intelligent Around View Monitor * 17 inch alloys , privacy glass ,

Price advertised is after the €5000 SEAI Grant has been deducted . Normal RRP is €36,190 .

But isn't there normally another €5k vrt reduction from that too, bringing it down to €26k?

They're not going to be shifting many if the price is €31k and no scrappage. I'll certainly not go for one.

They are advertising a Leaf Premium (SVE replacement, so the very top spec) with Propilot (which will be a paid option here for ~€1,500).

The current 30kWh SVE RRP is €29,390, plus the €1500 is €30,890. So with €300 in the difference either there's extra equipment on top (or Propilot is bumped higher), delivery charges are included or we may be seeing a small price bump instead of the expected cut.

Actually on further reading.... it says the reason for the discrepancy in the advert... it's a 6.6kW

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 940 ✭✭✭thierry14

Does this mean the base model will be 26k?

Base around ~€24-25k.... but that's base base.... as in lacking essentials base.

The mid-spec will probably end up around €27k and that's the one you'd want.

But aren't all the new Leafs 6.6kW?

Unless you're being sarcastic. In which case, I'm still asleep!

What about VRT relief of another 5 K ?

The customer never sees the VRT - thus the relief is included in the RRP already.

Hi, a couple of questions, as I'm interested in the new Leaf.

    1. How flexible are dealers expected to be on prices?

    2. If it worked out cheaper, would it make sense to buy new in the UK, or would this affect warranty etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 971 ✭✭✭cros13

    1. How flexible are dealers expected to be on prices?

Given it's a new model and there's plenty of demand, not very. At a minimum they are expecting sales to double.
    2. If it worked out cheaper, would it make sense to buy new in the UK, or would this affect warranty etc?

Generally it would be cheaper to buy new in Ireland than the UK (Yeah... I know... there's a first time for everything). Warranty is unaffected as it's europe-wide.

It seems to be a special edition model. They mention on FB that its spec is above the current SVE. However I dont see Leather Seats mentioned in any of the adds. It does have Pro Pilot, Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto Headlight Adjust, Sound System Upgrade, but no mention of seat trim.
I have not seen a definitive answer as to whether the 40kw is total or available power. Given the 150 mile real world range mentioned id say it is about 38kw available.
All in all im not sure I will be upgrading my 30kw SV for what seems to be an extra 80km range. I think I will wait to see what the equivalent of the SV costs and get a trade in quote.
Or keep the 30kw Leaf and buy a 2nd hand BMW i3 Rex.......I had hoped the new Leaf would be a no brainer.

I've seen this asked so many times but still not answered which leads me to believe that it's 40kwh total.

If it was 40 usable they'd have shouted more about it.

The battery is rated 40 kWh (I think I have read about that in the eNV200 thread, which uses same battery). Usable energy will be a bit smaller.

It never is. If it was massively better to make it a nobrainer, it would be priced accordingly dissolving its nobraininess...

I'm thinking the same, The Rex 33 Kwh cut in once from Dublin to Galway fast charger for the last 5 mins driving 110 Kph. It cuts in with 7% battery remaining.

The problem is getting a higher spec 2nd hand in Ireland.

I was least impressed with the 45 Kw charging, surely they could have higher powered charging for a liquid cooled battery ? I'm sure BMW's excuse would be that there are no chargers available so why bother, lazy lame excuse.
