What I really would like to improve are the interior materials. The leather in my '15 feels like plastic and is not very good quality. But yes, it's easy to keep clean. I actually think that the standard fabric feels better.

Being perforated makes them feel unusual. But our Civic IMAs also have/had perforated leather so over 11 years I've gotten get used to it.

I think the Bose audio when listening at the front seats could be described subtle and is fine even streaming and I dig the LED headlamps on SVE too. I think it's closer to traditional hi-fi that I'm used to as opposed to exaggerated megabass etc. On many "hi-fi" the bass is absolutely ridiculous imo.

Rear speakers are pure dirt though.

I like some Bass but the BOSE in the Leaf has a very muffled boomy sounding Baas and it sounds dreadful.

I listened again today , this time with CD and found it just as bad.

Compared to the Bang & Olufsen in the A3 the BOSE sounds like a cheap 3 in one stereo you might buy in Argos and I was streaming via bluetooth to the A3, the difference is night and day.

I was highly impressed with the Bang & Olufsen !!!

I don't remember what the standard stereo sounded like in the Leaf but having the BOSE is no upgrade believe me, I just wish it were optional !

personally its loud ( I play spotify) and clear and at high volumes the cars interior doesnt interact too much with it

    I find it " fine" .

    but hey . YMMV

My own car (Civic IMA) has the stock speakers and a replacement Pioneer head unit (OEM was an uber basic Clarion unit if I remember rightly). I've had Pioneer head units for years and I will always advocate for them. They're the best few quid you can spend.

But, while I've never used a CD with the Bose system in the Leaf I do find it very balanced with MP3s on a USB stick and even on FM radio. It's probably not a huge step up from the non-Bose system but I still find it decent. Except on Bluetooth where it falls well short... No bass at all. The USB playback menu is awful though... No regard for folder hierarchy and all files as if they're in the one flat folder.

Indeed USB playback is awkward on this current gen leafs.

I found little difference between various audio formats, bluetooth etc. People will be happy with the BOSE and people are happy with a 100 Euro stereo and that's fine but the BOSE should be optional, I'd rather have a few quid back in my pocket and install a proper sound system.

But is it related to the unit or limitation of non aptX codec?

Nothing to do with Bluetooth, it sounds brilliant on the A3 via Spotify on max quality settings.

Even with CD I noticed no difference.

It could be both the head unit and also the speakers. Remember, the BOSE in the Leaf isn't a premium sound system, it was designed for efficiency, not sound quality.

I doubt it has Quallcomms aptX

I think BT5 will offer the same level of quality or higher as AptX.

You can have the best quality Audio source and it will always sound sh1t through a poor quality sound system, so be it MP3 or AAC , FLAC or CD, if the BOSE sounds bad then everything sounds bad.

aptX sounds great, but even without it Bluetooth audio normally sounds better than it does in the Leaf.

Bluetooth certainly sounded superb in the A3 through the Bang & Olufsen.

How much is the B&O option new though? For the A8 it was around 12k. You'd want to be soft in the head to spend that on it, in such a compromised environment as a car.

Does this mean it will be around 30000 euro here ?

    That's what I'm hearing rumoured.

    Probably the bog basic version.

I think the launch edition isn't the base model so they will likely have a cheaper Visia (XE) version once the initial stock is gone.

I thought the rumour was that the 2018 Leaf will be priced just cheaper that the equivalent 30kWh version today. That would be around €27k for an SV.... and also just below the Ioniq which would be key.

ProPilot being an optional extra, of course.

They won't sell the XE version at €30k.

Even in the high spec launch edition? That would be very mean. It's standard on Ioniq (doesn't have auto parking though)

No, it is standard in the launch edition in the UK at £26k (after grant).

If it's as crap as it is in the Ioniq then they can keep it lol.

No it was nowhere near that in the A3, it was standard in the spec my Brother got.

Makes more sense. Also Ioniq is £25k after grant and lists at €28.5k here, so I would expect the Leaf to come in at about €29.6 or so here. And I doubt there will be much in the way of scrappage here for either car in the next year or so. Hard to say how much you could negotiate off the price of the Leaf. Speculating now but on the road with metallic paint will be hard for under €28k I'd say. And more than that if demand is strong from the start (I got lucky with the Ioniq that way as demand for EVs in Ireland was still very low at the start of the year. Definitely picking up a lot of momentum since July). When is the cheapest model (XE?) expected and what list price do we think it will be here?

Cheapest second hand Ioniq EV on carzone is €27k. Who on here said it would be worth just €15k after a year? Depreciation? What depreciation? :D

Hard to compare exactly. There was only one version of the Ioniq here. There will be 3 or 4 versions of the Leaf with optional extras. Top of the range Leaf will be more than the Ioniq of course as it has the larger battery.

Larger battery and a good bit more power, can't wait to test drive. I hope the steering has a lot more weight !

Oh aye. But if the launch edition is high spec, and only about a grand more expensive than Ioniq here, it should do well. The fact that you can't actually get an Ioniq should help Nissan too :D

I'd say the Mk 1.5 will get a lot of original leaf owners and probably some early facelift owners from 2014 but other than that I expect sales to be relatively low in Ireland. I mean who wants a 220-280 Kms rage car ? lol

250 km / day = over 90k km per year

The average car in Ireland does just 18k km per year. I'd say the range is plenty for 70-80% of all car users.
