And the only Blur song they seem to play is bleeding 'Boys and Girls'!

Heard Mamas Boys on Monday morning at 5.30am, haven't heard them in ages on the station.

John Hart was reading the news on 4FM, is that a nixer or do they own that station too, he was saying classic hits 4FM, so it wasn't Nova news being shared.

Same ownership, both are based in Castleforbes House. Sunshine 106.8 is too (both stations that couldn't come up with their own names so stole the names of superpirates). Siobhain McDonnell had done the news on 4FM at one stage too while she was still there.

Pat Courtenay played Needle in The Groove for Turntable Tuesday. Do hear more of them at night but they are played now and again in the evenings.

I think she will be Dee Woods' permanent replacement with Conor Irwin going back to reading the news and filling in for Ruth when she is not on. I think it will be announced simultaneously with the new Riffs and Refs and Nova Saturday Nights presenters.

Think they should have stuck with Alice Cooper on Sat night. Better range of music and far more interesting presenter. But maybe when the sponsorship of the show ran out they prob thought it was cheaper to get a local to present. Just as long as they the Fri Night Rock Show alone......

I generally enjoy the music on Nova in work during the day, but they really tend to overplay whatever new releases it is they're promoting. You know the ones where they have a custom made intro.. Arcade Fire, Killers, Stereophonics etc..
I'm happy to hear a bit of new music, but a bit of variety wouldn't go astray. Just seem to get bombarded with the same songs over and over.

Also, wtf with that Stereophonics song... 'She's got a baby in her stomach'.. Did she eat a baby?!

Pity, Conor is a great presenter IMO.

There seems to be a lot of changes at Nova recently, djs leaving and replacements in, new people behind the scenes as well. They must be prepping with the expectation of going national!

Why would a station that never gets a 5% share in the Dublin market go national?

Am in bed and not feeling well. Think Davin O'Callaghan is the only thing keeping me sane :D - has had a brilliant and extremely varied playlist. Think he should have a regular weeknight slot and not graveyard on Fri night.

I doubt he picks the music.. Give the station the credit, not him.
Lots of these presenters are reading from a playlist and most are unaware of the artists/songs they introduce.

Hi there, yes I do select all the music for my shows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,820 ✭✭✭FanadMan

If you are the real Davin, I'm going to put on a hat and then doff it to you. You are wasted on that shift - you have a great selection and the fillers you do between songs (the specials) are great!

I heard them mention on the morning show on Friday that the girl was on again tomorrow (Saturday) night but that they were also back in on Saturday morning for the 'Best of' show... long day for her etc..

As if anyone believes the segments between clips for the best of show are not pre recorded on Friday.

the music (when they play it) is still decent compared to other stations but the inane drivel, ads, and "celeb new" is getting too much now and taking up too much air time for me
