Anyone here finding people who sell on adverts harder and harder to deal with when it comes to prices and using payment methods?

It can be difficult, in terms of scalpers and people that just don't turn up, but I think it's always been that way.
I know there's a lot of rule breaking, with folks looking for bids, no prices on ads, and making payment hard.
But then, no one is obliged to use Paypal or to put themselves out when selling something.
I do try to meet most people halfway, in terms of both price and journey to meet though.

I understand the not turning up I have had that issue a few times myself.

Myself I just take PayPal as it's the essayist way to get money and can transfer back to my bank account with no issues.

Like with prices I am finding people going it's 50 euros in cex but it's 30 new on Amazon I think 25 is a fair price for the game and they go off on one on you for saying 25 is a fair price for 2nd hand and they go mad ha

Unfortunately some people have unrealistic expectations of the value of their goods, particularly acute when you find folk selling previous projects that has devoured their free time.
Some people though are more cynical, well aware of the actual value of the item they are selling but hoping that the prospective buyer has no idea, presumably that class of person that hasn't discovered Pricespy, and this is why they react so poorly when you give the game away.

I would say that pricing and pointing out incongruities in prices is fair game, you look for €60 for a copy of Rise of the Robots you are going to expect someone to call you out.

But, also expect to have your posts removed and end up blocked from the ad.

Id rather have a bon fire with my stuff then sell it on adverts.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,678 ✭✭✭TrustedApple

Yap I have been blocked quite a few times when I am like this is what I would pay and then they reply and insult you and block you ha. Classic adverts users well 10%.

Like last year I sold off my unboxed GameCube games discs where not in the best sold for a very fair price.

Seen a few weeks ago the guy under a different profile the very same games I sold him all unboxed and have the same marks for twice the price I sold him to ha. He says he buys and sells games so he must be using a few different profiles saying he is buying for himself and selling on another profile .... People ha.

Unfortunately we have no control over the morals and ethics of others, nor should we have.
Someone is always trying to make that deal, to flip those items and make a killing.
It is a topic that has arisen on this forum in the past, around Metroid Prime Trilogy, during the Great Tesco Sale of 2014, all blessing be upon her, when some people bought large quantities of this game for a fiver, then flipped them on auction sites and Adverts for many multiples of that, when there were lots of regulars here who were gasping for a copy of the game.
In that instance there was enough fair minded folk who sold them on to other regulars for the fiver plus p&p, but it was contentious for those who felt quite entitled to sell them for big money and come on here and sing about it.

Luckily i have had good dealings on Adverts so far but there are some very dodgy sellers on there. Many sellers on it that go by the "well it's old so i can charge insane prices" and have noticed the same few buying just on the basis of upping the price for resale.

Reminds me of when I sold my serfece pro 2 there last year as well as never used that tablet and I am now quite sorry I sold it ha.

Sold it for like 350 with the touch cover. User who bought it from me put it up the next day for 400 and then wait for it he sold for 320 ?. Wtf ha

A fair few resellers on there alright. I've seen people buy something from someone for dirt cheap, meet them to collect it and put them up for sale themselves a few hours later for 2 or 3 times the price. Some of the same people will try and ruin deals for others then by doing the whole ' You're selling that for too cheap' fake good samaritan trick just because they didn't see the ad fast enough themselves. That crap is rife on there.

If you happen to be selling a PS4 covered in black duct tape and with some Apple logos stuck on, also coloured in with a permanent marker, and a ruined controller, you should probably expect the worst.

Reading a Facebook group wax lyrical about Outrun 2 and 2006 and the best versions out there.
Turns out the game got a release on the 360 and PS3 in 2009 but it got pulled a couple of years later.
Dammit, says I, how did I miss that one, being a fan.
Quick search of my PS3 purchase history turns up nothing...
My Xbox 360 purchase history on the other hand turned up the game, hooray!
Downloading as we speak, can't wait to play it again !

On the one hand my 360 now lives in the mess that is my games room.
On the other hand I have my 42" plasma up there.
On the other hand I've got no where to put the display in that space!
On the other hand it's Outrun 2 !
    There is no other hand!!

Jeaes I have a issue with buying endless amounts of games that I am never going to play lately !!!!.

I think I have about 30 + games to play at this stage and I keep adding to them :O.

I got to laugh you start working you end up with more moany to buy games but some how in the long run you end up with less time to play them !!!. So you just buy them to look at ha.

At the moment 80% of my game time is playing the switch or 3ds on the bus from work and home and that's basicly it now fml

Why do we have to grow up ?

A couple of years ago Cidonalads interests were in the 3DS, now though he has moved onto the main consoles and, well, it's curtains for my gaming habit :(
I'll rehabilitate the gamesroom wreck and get using it again, may move the WiiU up there as well, as it isn't getting any play now at all.
Tons of old cables and junk in boxes too, and for years I swear they might come in handy, but some of them predate the PS2, so I think it's okay to say good bye.
It'll make for a big trip to the recycle centre though!

Take up handheld gaming. The DS is pretty much my favourite console of all time and the 3DS would be up there as well.

Nothing but boring triple A junk on the consoles with the odd gem.

There's a PC version of Coast to Coast, my friend told me it is glorious and very handy to find on.... sites.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,752 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

I have Outrun 2 and 2006: Coast 2 Coast on Xbox, Outrun 2006 as well on both PS2 and PSP.
The framerate is a bit wobbly but the PSP version is remarkable.
And now the Outrun on the 360, unfortunately there was a cap on the file size of XBLA games at the time meaning the game is somewhat reduced over Coast 2 Coast, which is a real pity.
But, HD Outrun 2, it's not like the other games cease to exist, so I can play those bits that are missing from the 360 title whenever.

I'd say the PC version is definitive, especially if it supports a force feedback wheel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,925 ✭✭✭geotrig

pc probably definitive ,ive no idea ,but outrun 2 was on chihiro system which is xbox based (and Lindbergh for sp, which is basically a pc :P)

I could never really take to handheld gaming. The few Zelda's on various Ninty handhelds are probably about all I managed.

I'm exactly the same, apart from the DS and 3DS. Something about those two that just clicked with me, have put countless hours into both consoles.

I see Thalamus have relaunched this week. They published a few pretty decent titles on the C64 back in the day.

First up is a kickstarter for a re-release of Hunters Moon, but further on the horizon they're talking up Creatures 3.

I used to be near 100% handhelds but I'm going through a PC phase at the moment.

I find there is way more variety on handheld and a far greater number of quality games. Yet I always feel awful trudging through triple A schlock like Uncharted 4 when I've much better handheld games. This game bores me to big fatty salty tears and I could be playing games I love but meh... it's on console.

I wish I could get back into handheld gaming again. Triple A is 90% boring. Even the highly regarded games.
