I loved it on PC and while I enjoyed playing HL again on PS2 it was a bit limiting when the OG Xbox got HL2.
I always thought it was an mistake not putting HL in the Orange Box, though that collection represented such amazing value for money it was hard to be annoyed for anything more than a second or two.
Black Mesa, the Steam based remaster of HL is pretty good as well, looks great too.

Performance was awful on that version!!

I played it through there, loved it.
I know things could get choppy, but it was still fantastic.
I played it through again on the 360, with the Orange Box, in a continuum of bliss including the following two episodes and Portal.

I only started Portal for the first time the other night - 10 years late to the game :D

Speaking of Valve - there's a great 'Valve Complete Pack' up on steam at the moment with a 91% discount. Amazing value.

Started playing Theme hospital again a few days ago via the corsixTH mod. Honestly had forgotten how good that game is. I don't think there's a cheaper laugh to be had in the gaming world than removing all the toilets and firing the handymen in a busy hospital

As someone who has worked on wards with broken toilets and all the maintenance staff unavailable, I can approve this statement.
Sadly, as a nurse at the time on that ward, I can say the humour was slightly lost on me... but in hindsight it had it's moments!

Anyone remember an isometric ps1 game like Theme Hospital/Park where there were rival gangs against each other?

I think it was made by a company based in the UK. Wanted to get it when I was younger but then when it came out it had bad reviews.

I'm 99% sure that was called Constructor, just recently got a sequel as well

I played some Sim City on the SNES, sure who didn't, and Theme Park on the 3DO, but I never spent time with any other of these kinds of games.

So after buying a few fairly worn original Xbox 'The Duke' controllers I finally bought one that, after some cleaning up and electrical spray is as good as new. Delighted. They don't make controllers like that anymore, or games for that matter. Moto GP2 and Nhl Hitz 2002 have taken over my life again. Really not feeling this gen at all. Thought it was just my age but nope, games really were better back then :)

Been playing some Perfect Dark on 360 because I've only got the 360 in the parents and not a lot of unfinished games for it.

I'm trying to finish levels in Perfect Agent difficulty and it's just not fun at all. The levels are a pain in the ass to finish and there's just so much jank. The stealth levels are the worst because stealth just does not work in the game.

Perfect Dark is no fun at all. That's about it :o

Are you playing the all Perfect Dark Zero or the terribly dated Perfect Dark HD?
Either way, you are not in for a good time.

    Perfect Dark HD.

I playing halo, quite good so far, time has come probably caught up with it, but nice to see what all the fuss was about. Original Xbox is great for cheap games and it's nice to play a few that never ended up on ps2. Not a big fan of the humongous controllers the Xbox have but I'll get used to it.

Actually, is that generation retro yet or not? I never feckin know.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Also, PGR2! Great racing game, am glued to it.

You can get the xbox s contoller if you're not mad about the bigger controller. There are a fair few on Adverts. Not sure where you are but you should be able to pick one up for €10.

Edit: Cex have them for €8, a fiver extra if they've to post I think.

On the final dungeon in Terranigma, I must say the game leaves a mixed taste.

The first two thirds of the game is excellent, constant action and the story makes sense. The final third of the game is a dialogue fest wandering meaninglessly around the world map talking to people back and fourth and trading items. It's so incredibly cryptic that without a walk through I wouldn't have bothered finishing it. There's very little action at all.

The magic system is awful in the game and you can go without it, the armor and weapon system is also silly. You get new weapons and armor so frequency half of them you never end up using. The special items you find are used for a tiny section of one dungeon then they are never used again.

It's a shame really, the graphics and music are pretty nice, but FF6/Chrono Trigger is it not. Somewhat overrated imo.

Cleared Sonic 1 this morning without continues, what a cracking game. The soundtrack, level design, difficulty curve, graphics, playability....for a pick up and play game, it's all perfect. It took me a few "tune up" attempts, labyrinth act 3 and the scrap brain levels can be challenging, but only in so far as if you die, you fracked up...it's not that the game robbed you. Brilliant stuff, onto Sonic 2 next

All Chaos Emeralds too I hope? ;)

Coincidentally enough I played through Sonic 2 on a long flight recently - still don't think it's nearly as good as the original game.

I played through Sonic 2 myself and loved it even more than the first.
But then I also really enjoyed Sonic 3, perhaps more than the first two, my opinion ropey as always.

General consensus is that 2 is better than 1, however I've always found that the level themes and music of the first game hit the high mark and 2 falls short.

I've been away on holidays for the last three weeks, can't wait to get home and give Mania a go!

    3 of the 6 :o

Personally I think Sonic 2 is another class act, perhaps just shaded though by the first. If I recall, Sonic 2 is a tad too long
