That moment where you find Castlevania SOTN on BOTH of yours sister's Xbox Ones and neither of them have ever heard of it. 'oh that's just something I picked up for two euro'

Queue me demoing it to them for 30 minutes trying to convince them that it's the best game ever made and how they need to play through it Now. To little interest :(

At least they're not ignoring a physical copy, that would be hanging offence

I've never actually played SOTN... and this is coming from a total Super Metroid buff! May try it tonight...

Sweet merciful Jesus, get on that! It's arguably as good if not better! Don't forget the inverted castle!

There's so much weird stuff in SotN, I should go back and really mess around with it. Stuff like the high heels that do absolutely nothing when equipped except make your character 1 pixel taller. Then there's the shield rod that changes attack based on what shield you have. For instance having a leather shield summons cows. It's all those weird unique effects that a normal player might never see that make that game so brilliant. the developers really didn't have to put that level of detail in but they did anyway.

It's one I've been wanting to play for quite a while, but just haven't been able to yet.

They're very different games to SotN.

Still amazing games all the same although Chronicles is bastard hard, I beat the PS1 remake version on the disc but could never beat the original release, Medusa was just hell.

Throw my name on the 'never played SotN' list. Did enjoy Aria of Sorrow, but the RPG-lite stuff really does let you break the game in the last few hours. You get this cape or something that matches an enemies HP to EXP earned, so you've only got to grind one room for a bit and you've maxed out.

This is more shocking than me not having all exits in Super Mario World.

Another go at SMB hoping to crack into world 8. Got to 5-4 after losing a heap of lives to RNGesus on the first cheep cheep level. Bastards.

Nes, lots and lots of Nes stuff. That AVS console is super awesome with bells on when paired with an Everdrive cart.

Started Half Life 2 from the beginning again yesterday. Haven't played it since 2004. Christ it's still phenomenal! Crazy to think it's 13 years old.

I played through it again earlier in the year plus the episodes. It has aged remarkably well.

I was a little concerned when it first booted up and some of the textures seemed a bit dated, but once the fast pace kicked off and I hit some of those big set pieces and vistas it still looks incredible.

One annoying niggle that's now gone, I remember the loading screens between areas took an age with my Pentium 4/128mb graphics card. It really ruined the flow of the game.

It's now loading in seconds maxed out on my laptop :D

It's one of the best representations of a dystopian future. It reminds me of the time I went to Bratislava on the train from Vienna. I got off and the place was just a sea of soviet era high rise flats. It was just like City 17. Thankfully just down the hill and across the bridge was beautiful! No Ravenholm waiting for me!

A pitiless landscape of decay and oppression.
    Reminds me of Sligo town!

Hl2 has more atmosphere than any other FPS. Really is stunning. Think the weapons and combat pale in comparison to the first game though. Vehicle sections and gravity gun aren't my bag either hate when the psysics objects get underfoot. Completely ruined it as a deathmatch game.

This might sound like cardinal sin but this plays particularly well on Xbox 1 backwards compatible.
Controller yes i know but still, nice for couch play. Recently replayed through the saga on console.
PS2 version of Half-Life holds up well too.

I loved it on PC and while I enjoyed playing HL again on PS2 it was a bit limiting when the OG Xbox got HL2.
I always thought it was an mistake not putting HL in the Orange Box, though that collection represented such amazing value for money it was hard to be annoyed for anything more than a second or two.
Black Mesa, the Steam based remaster of HL is pretty good as well, looks great too.

PS2 Multiplayer Half Life was weird - The maps on the PS2 port had massive sections excluded.

I was a huge fan of Half Life Deathmatch on the PC and played it for years, those cut down PS2 maps were extremely unsettling :pac: - it's weird running through a space you know every pixel of, only to round a corner and run face first into a wall that shouldn't be there. Brain does not compute.

I never spent any time with the leaked Half Life for the Dreamcast, anyone here play it through and have anything to report?
