The Hyde can host 25k if thats the expected crowd for the replay then it would have made more sense to play the game in Connacht. Hyde park in fairness doesn't look like a dump in its recent pictures

It would look great with two new stands like Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Ah I know that thanks but I do not believe there is any good reason why such a great servant of the green and red should have such hostility aimed his way.Lots of ex players offer opinions on current players,no problem with same as long as it does not cross the line and get personal.

Fantastic player,by all accounts a very nice lad who has never lacked in confidence.Always a tad laid back.

Irrespective of his merits as a coach old school or otherwise and the financial costs I believe both himself and Kevin McStay were treated very poorly when they applied for the Mayo managerial team. They deserved far better. There was absolutely no transparency in the process,it was shambolic and because of the lack of proper procedures and transparency may have unfairly indicated that the county chairman's brother and co manager had the job in the bag.

Honestly I've always loved him any time I hear or read interviews with it. He has always struck me as really passionate, earnest and sincere. I've been surprised by how honest he is a few times and I guess that's not always a characteristic that is rewarded in GAA.

I had been impressed with his thinking on different elements of the game so was surprised to see him described as old fashioned or whatever it was. I wouldn't have gotten that from listening to him, but my knowledge is limited of course.

I would think their CV is fairly strong compared to most in the IC management game really.

As a matter of interest did any of you bring a back pack with stuff for the kids? I heard a person was stopped going in with a bag/backpack that had a jacket and some food. Crazy if it is true.

On the game a few Mayo lads looked tired to me and I thought bad use of the bench. Why leave it so long to introduce Parsons? I cant see Mayo losing the replay but I think they need to go with the young lads, well as many as possible. Play Loftus, Boland and Coen from the start.

There is still a huge gulf between Mayo, Kerry, Dublin and maybe Tyrone. They appear on a different level in terms of conditioning. That is why I think Mayo need to use the panel a little more. As a Dub {not as avid as I once was} I dont think Dublin or Kerry are as far ahead as some pundits think they are and I think Dublin know it aswell. A lot of the Dublin lads have serious miles on the clock also. Monaghan will pose serious problems for them.

One reason it has to be in Croke Park. Hawkeye.

Imagine the winging and moaning if we lost to a wide that was flagged over in another stadium without hawkeye.

We are bad enough when we deem the ref is against us.

    .

I brought in a plastic bag with a bottle of Coke and a few sandwiches, not about to pay 15 euro for a burger chips and drink there, nothing was said although they did feel the bag to make sure there were no cans in there.

I'd start loftus for Moran but the other two will have to start on the bench
Parsons carrying an injury so not much in him hope he's better for the replay .
What to do with Keegan now he didn't get much when they switched his man at half time

Brought a backpack in with water, crisps, sandwiches and jacket stuffed into it. Just took the water out and essentially there was no weight in it. Had it open ready to be looked at it and they pretty much waved me on. Hogan Stand hill end.

Absolutely no issue with bringing a bag through, simply if I'd a pen or any sharp object.Could'nt have been any less discommoding.

Rochford must give youth it's fling, fresh bodies are essential.Tom Parsons had picked up an injury against Cork.

He is by all accounts a very decent skin, well liked in his native Ballina and the county in general. He was hardly your bog standard footballer with his basketball background and a tendency to rebel against conventional thinking.

I'm probably not as au fait with his coaching methods are yourself but he was a selector previously for the county, was part of the team that brought St.Brigid's All Ireland success. He is now doing his bit successfully for the Roscommon cause and I believe had a stint in Cavan.

There is a perception that he is old school, not sure re the veracity of same or the alleged belief that the current players had issues around his involvement in Kevin McStay's management team.

True to form,he claims he's the best coach in the country. He has never lacked in confidence but I doubt he truly believes it.Not so much tongue in cheek as an innate belief in his own abilities.

Thanks for replies. A friend told me he saw a girl about 14 being stopped on way in to Croke park. Would hate it if GAA went down this road. By and large it is a family day out, an expensive one at that but hopefully it will remain a family day out.

I think it is vital Mayo make at least 3 changes for replay. The side needs to be freshened up. That is not a reflection on any current starter all teams need this. Mayo have some serious young lads who wont improve on a bench. They will still win the replay as Roscommon are 2 or 3 years off reaching the same level.

I'm sick of our own supporters constantly booing the ref after one bad decision . It stems from that awful evening in limerick which was outrageuous but now it's every game and starts early in the game . It does us no favors imo
Same thing with booing free takers .

It's something that has crept in a small more supporters have coke on board and deem it the norm i guess but I hate it

Of course I let off the odd roar at the ref but the booing is just stupid and childish

I go "Ahhhh ref ffs" but thats about it.

The mayo supporter man behind me clearly had terets. He was effing our players out of it for perceived incompetence as well as effing the ref out of it, both of these pursuits continued for the whole game. Shouted that he wasn't going to stay and watch any more of this ****e, but he didnt f**k off. I've never heard the like before.

He finally worked himself into a right lather really effing the ref out of it as the ref was leaving the pitch into the tunnel within earshot. and when I say effing I mean every expletive under the sun. His wife was very embarrassed, and was asking him to stop, but he told her he effing wasnt going to. and on he went till the ref left.

His tirade and the then accompanying booing at the end influenced my son and he started to boo too but I told him that it is not sporting and not something we do.

Just the kind of supporter we really really need, an exspurt eejet moron  He brought disgrace onto us all by association. What am I to do in that situation with 2 kids by my side?

More a small reusable shopping bag effort here as have to bring food for diabetic child along with insulin stuff. Bag was checked by 2 lovely women going in and it was quick. I had brought my energy drink cans and they wern't allowed in, so I necked one and the lovely lady gave me an unopened bottle of water to pour out and refill with my energy drink. She wouldn't let me pay her for the bottle of water.

I saw others had small rucksacks so think I'll go with one of those next time as its easier to carry everything including the leggings which we needed for part of the match and had to take off too as too sweaty hot at other times :D.

This is the info we got with the season ticket email regarding back packs etc. Didn't seem to have been too strict on it as I saw plenty with big enough back packs, though they were looking into bags and taking cans off people if they had them.

Following a review of safety procedures with the relevant statutory authorities, Croke Park can confirm that as of Sunday, 25 June 2017, patrons will not be permitted to take large bags and backpacks into the stadium for all match day and concert events. Smaller bags will be permitted but may be subject to searches and patrons are urged not to bring bags at all where possible. We would like to thank our patrons in advance for their cooperation with this matter as we look forward to a fantastic season of concerts and matches in Croke Park over the coming months.

Doesn't matter a jot if i'm happy or not. I don't believe its ok to give little or no credit to improving Roscommon side. The key feature of this Mayo group of players since they "arrived" in 2011 is they are extremely hard to beat in championship football and they have the ability to hold even the best of forwards to low scores as the September AI final proved.

Winning any game narrowly can be worth its weight in gold, it can bring a team on more than hammering the opposition where little is learnt. If Mayo win this replay by a one or two points some pundits will write them off some already have and the last time Mayo were written off they beat Tyrone and went on to reach the AI final.

Kerry didn't overly impress me yesterday against a wasteful Galway though i did say the best time to play them was yesterday, who knows one of the Ulster sides might catch Dublin on hop?

But why should I have to give them credit for anything ?

They threw away a 7 point lead yesterday, that's the kind of thing Mayo get abused for, they don't get credit for it.

If they beat Mayo next week they will get plenty of plaudits from plenty of people. But not from me, I couldn't give a toss about them.

Up early for work and looking at some of the posts about Roscommon fans behaviour on Sunday. As we all witnessed Andy Moran was booed throughout. But let's be honest this isn't new behaviour from Roscommon fans. I'll never forget a young Cillian O'Connor getting horrific booing in the 2011 Connacht Final taking frees and I'll also never forget the digs and abuse I took that day in the terrace in the Hyde and in 2014 too. Classless supporters and always appear to have been IMO. And it deserves to be pointed out.

Kerry / Cork, Mayo / Galway, Limerick / Clare. There are them and many more great GAA rivalries but none of them games are marred the way Roscommon fans manage to do by just behaving unsportingly and really against the ethos of the GAA.

As a Mayo man I obviously want us to win the replay, and I like McStay. But for them Roscommon fans showing up their county and our province with their sh*te, well I hope we fcking batter them and Andy Moran hits a hat trick. Classless.

Firstly Mayo have a history of coming back into games when well behind and against better sides than Roscommon.

Roscommon got into a seven point lead in the first place and you must remember this is a Roscommon team that you thought would suffer against the experience of Mayo and the occasion of Croke park would get to them but they settled the quicker into Sundays game. Roscommon then recovered to win the 2nd half and held Mayo to a mere 4 points, another team would have folded in that position especially one as young as Roscommons.

Regardless what happens in the replay they should already be receiving plaudits for winning Connacht and pushing Mayo all the way on Sunday against the odds and finally for someone that doesn't give a toss about them you have given plenty of views about Roscommon over the years on here.

Seriously poor from a national journalist.

I have children under the age of 8 who knew that the winners of the two games on Sunday play each other next.

Why should he give a toss about Roscommon when we have enough problems to sort out or own team.

They did suffer Mayo scored 1-06 with out reply if we could take or chances we would have won

Even if Mayo beat Roscommon when they are eventually beaten they will blame tiredness and all the draws for losing again. The draws were against very average teams and came from dominant positions where they let teams back in. This mayo team has played to 110% of its ability at times in the past to reach finals and that's a credit to them but Mayo's 110% is 90% of what is needed to win an all Ireland. Unfortunately Mayo are now at about 85% of themselves and way short of an all Ireland challenge this year!!
