Fantastic player,by all accounts a very nice lad who has never lacked in confidence.Always a tad laid back. Irrespective of his merits as a coach old school or otherwise and the financial costs I believe both himself and Kevin McStay were treated very poorly when they applied for the Mayo managerial team. They deserved far better. There was absolutely no transparency in the process,it was shambolic and because of the lack of proper procedures and transparency may have unfairly indicated that the county chairman's brother and co manager had the job in the bag.

Crazy if it is true. On the game a few Mayo lads looked tired to me and I thought bad use of the bench. Why leave it so long to introduce Parsons? I cant see Mayo losing the replay but I think they need to go with the young lads, well as many as possible. Play Loftus, Boland and Coen from the start. There is still a huge gulf between Mayo, Kerry, Dublin and maybe Tyrone. They appear on a different level in terms of conditioning. That is why I think Mayo need to use the panel a little more. As a Dub {not as avid as I once was} I dont think Dublin or Kerry are as far ahead as some pundits think they are and I think Dublin know it aswell. A lot of the Dublin lads have serious miles on the clock also. Monaghan will pose serious problems for them.

I've been surprised by how honest he is a few times and I guess that's not always a characteristic that is rewarded in GAA. I had been impressed with his thinking on different elements of the game so was surprised to see him described as old fashioned or whatever it was. I wouldn't have gotten that from listening to him, but my knowledge is limited of course. I would think their CV is fairly strong compared to most in the IC management game really.

It stems from that awful evening in limerick which was outrageuous but now it's every game and starts early in the game . It does us no favors imo Same thing with booing free takers . It's something that has crept in a small more supporters have coke on board and deem it the norm i guess but I hate it Of course I let off the odd roar at the ref but the booing is just stupid and childish

The key feature of this Mayo group of players since they "arrived" in 2011 is they are extremely hard to beat in championship football and they have the ability to hold even the best of forwards to low scores as the September AI final proved. Winning any game narrowly can be worth its weight in gold, it can bring a team on more than hammering the opposition where little is learnt. If Mayo win this replay by a one or two points some pundits will write them off some already have and the last time Mayo were written off they beat Tyrone and went on to reach the AI final. Kerry didn't overly impress me yesterday against a wasteful Galway though i did say the best time to play them was yesterday, who knows one of the Ulster sides might catch Dublin on hop?
Fr Tod Umptious wrote: » But why should I have to give them credit for anything ? They threw away a 7 point lead yesterday, that's the kind of thing Mayo get abused for, they don't get credit for it. If they beat Mayo next week they will get plenty of plaudits from plenty of people. But not from me, I couldn't give a toss about them.

manofwisdom wrote: » Firstly Mayo have a history of coming back into games when well behind and against better sides than Roscommon. Roscommon got into a seven point lead in the first place and you must remember this is a Roscommon team that you thought would suffer against the experience of Mayo and the occasion of Croke park would get to them but they settled the quicker into Sundays game. Roscommon then recovered to win the 2nd half and held Mayo to a mere 4 points, another team would have folded in that position especially one as young as Roscommons. Regardless what happens in the replay they should already be receiving plaudits for winning Connacht and pushing Mayo all the way on Sunday against the odds and finally for someone that doesn't give a toss about them you have given plenty of views about Roscommon over the years on here.

He thinks they are playing Tyrone or someone from that side of the draw next. Seriously poor from a national journalist. I have children under the age of 8 who knew that the winners of the two games on Sunday play each other next.
