I never even got the email! They definitely need bigger venues though.

Ken does have a fair point about the level of the non-Dublin players.

Eoin mentioned that they released the first batch of live show tickets. Sounds like they'll release them in groups.

Enjoyed Sid Lowe's little volley of f##ks as well..

Perfect example of how to use swear words for affect without being gratuitous.

Actually laughed out loud on my bike when stopped at a red light and got some weird looks. The point and the way he made it was comedy gold.

Did you turn off emails to stop getting notified of each pod? I did and hence didn't get the event email (although I can't go so I'm not bothered about it).

They can't email you without you having permission to do so activated on patreon.

Knowing me, I probably unticked every box I could when joining Patreon so I wouldn't get any notifications etc. So that explains why I didn't get the email.

At first i read your post and thought you were right. But now i think about it and think you should have clicked the boxes anyway.

Now obviously you arent a professional poster.

You havent been through what ive been through.

Havent been accused of ninja editing posts.

Never posted at an international level.

Ah right, that makes sense. Getting a daily email was annoying, I turned it off in the first week.

Been two a couple of stand-up gigs there, pretty 'intimate' alright.

Loved the butter exchange in Monday's podcast.:)

Game On just played Ken's reading out of the Bray Wanderers statement, they gave the podcast a good plug while they were at it.

I actually find Game On to be pretty decent. I like Hugh Cahill, and the fast-paced format of the show is ideal for when I'm driving home, as all their segments are condensed into that one hour. I used to be an avid OTB listener but gave up on them a while back

Him and Ewan MacKenna are a pair of absolute twats. Constantly having arguments and teaming up on people. Two losers.

Jaysus. Just for curiositys sake I had a look there: what a car crash. Endless bickering and point scoring. What an absolute child that man is!

Just saw AC Jimbo is leaving Football Weekly.

I know it's not technically Second Captains news, but it's Second Captains adjacent as there is a lot of crossover.

Interesting news all right. I wonder if that new pod James is starting will be a paid sub? Hard to believer FW is going for over 10 years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,610 ✭✭✭jaykay74

Just short of 8000 monthly subs. Seems like they held on to their subs over the Summer non football period. Thought they might lose a few.

They've said on their Twitter that it will be free always.

Six months on the go, small media base, very quiet sports summer - yet into the top 3:

Hopefully the Guardian keeps Glendenning. It'll be nice to listen to Jimbo again.

Good news for me: I'm an FW subscriber but generally find him a bit arch and mannered...

I dunno. I think without James football weekly is dead
