Just saw AC Jimbo is leaving Football Weekly.
    http://www.football365.com/news/exclusive-james-richardson-to-leave-guardian-football-weekly

I know it's not technically Second Captains news, but it's Second Captains adjacent as there is a lot of crossover.

Depending on who they get to replace him, this mightn't be the end of the world. I've still enjoyed the podcast in the weeks when Jimbo hasn't been the anchor.

I dunno. I think without James football weekly is dead

The new pod with be good - isn't it a company run by Ian McIntosh?

And then we'll still have FW. After the initial shock, I've decided this is actually really good news.

Nothing like the shock of when the lads left OTB.

Still haven't gotten over it. My brother once described that show as like having a new episode of the wire 5 nights a week.

"I hope so, so there's a chance you might drown"

    Had me in stitches.

FW can be tough going when they have poor guests.

Dave Farrar would be my choice for the new presenter. Found Maxs false modesty tiring and repetitive.

Podcast had been going downhill lately, seemed to be heading too far in the entertainment /comedy direction for my liking.

If it's Wilson or Steinberg I'll be unsubscribing, anyone else and I'll be tuning in.

Wonder if this new Pod will be a subscription service?

4 nights? Or was it from 7-9 on Friday's also? I remember when they started podcasting the full hour of the football show instead of just 30 mins, insanity!

It was 5 nights, but they cut it back to 4 + Friday night's "Best of the week" for the last couple of years before they left.

For the millionth time I'll say here it's still mind boggling to me that they cut the preview of the weekend's action show.

It was good having Ken on premier league reporting duty on Saturdays back in the day too.

I think Jonathon Wilson is one of the best analysts going. But I doubt he could commit to hosting two pods a week with his book writing and travelling to tournaments.

Dave Farrar would be good all right. I'd be surprised if one of the journalists became host.

Robbie Fowler at the next gig.

pretty underwhelming for me. he turned up at a Newstalk one last year. although I hope Richie nabs Shay Given for a players chair.

SC discussing the odds of Ken moving to FW in today's pod. 10/1. If he leaves, so too does my sub,

F365 have Jimbo and Ben in their summer transfers list :D

He had a very bad experience when he presented FW for two episodes in the past. I would say it is unlikely.

He got absolutely hammered in the comments section of the podcast. Let's just say they didn't take to him.

I might be forgetting some of the details here but didn't Ken talk not so long on some episode about his experience behind the mic with football weekly - basically everything that could go wrong did go wrong and I think he was hungover doing it. I don't think he'll top of the pile of names to get the gig!

Wow, that was quick! Refreshed every second, finally the REGISTER button appeared. Clicked it, chose 2 tickets within 5 seconds, but nope, all gone by the time I clicked to go to the next page. Had myself on one computer and girlfriend on another trying to get them. Same for both.

    Damn. :(

Not much else I could've done. Fair play to anyone who got them.

Ken's odds speculation reaction on the pod was very funny.

"It's always flattering to be linked with top media productions... My wife is happy here. We have the best listeners in the world ... People trying to sell papers I suppose, but I am a Second Captains presenter until somebody tells me otherwise". :D

Friday nights always seemed like being stuck in a school or work when you are the last person in the building.

I never heard him hosting those episodes (I'm relatively new to the FW podcast) but I can't imagine how anyone would've thought he was a good fit. Ken's style is too different to that of James Richardson and the other guys who've stood in for him.

I was going to say the opposite, I enjoy hearing from one of the few elite Irish athletes we have. She has interesting insights and knows a hell of a lot more about sprint mind games than anyone else they could get on.

I like her too. Not the usual meandering bland answers. She actually done s really good Irish man abroad interview

I agreed with everything she had to say about Bolt, was very interesting hearing about that German doctor too "Getting injured isn't a setback, it's part of the job"

Ken's rant about Neymar at the end was worth waiting for :D
