I like her too. Not the usual meandering bland answers. She actually done s really good Irish man abroad interview

I agree. Not sure why anyone would have an issue with her.

Same, thought O'Rourke was great. Caught up on the Richie Hogan one as well. Think he speaks very well any time they have him on.

Jesus Derval O Rourke would make you want to bang your head off a wall. Awful awful awful stuff.

I'm starting to feel that way about all sports person interviews.
    Sports players : play sport
Leave the ****e talking to the pros.
Shame we're almost back to the PL season where hours will be devoted to talking about mind games and rants, all spewed in an effort to deflect attention from the matters at hand ie playing football.
(I will still enjoy Ken's gentle ribbing of Bourinho's latest tantrum)

I was going to say the opposite, I enjoy hearing from one of the few elite Irish athletes we have. She has interesting insights and knows a hell of a lot more about sprint mind games than anyone else they could get on.

Totally agree. I thought she was excellent. And gave a good insight into life on the track. The stuff she was saying about the German doctor guy was very interesting.

Richie is very listenable - no GAA cliches or cliches of any sort - very eloquent lad.

The bit in yellow :D. Should tweet it to the lads.

That's good news. He's not a bad stand in for Jimbo.

When is Jimbo's new pod out? Before this weekend, I would hope, for the Charity Shield.

(Of course, the Charity Shield matters not one jot, i just want to see what the new pod is like).

I will say, though, that there is no way I'll be able to listen to all of 6x SC, 2 x FW, Jimbo's new one and 2 x my beloved Arsecast in any week ever.

And it means OTB will certainly need to sharpen up if it wants to fit in with all that.

Do most people here listen to FW?

I tried a couple of times but found the whole lot of them to be insufferably unfunny loud mouths. Especially that pompous Irish lad.

Could be worse, if he gets on with it instead of obsessing about nasty comments (and reading them out thus encouraging more) the pod will be ok and stay in my rotation anyway.

    Otherwise it could fall away

Himself and Glenndining. The smug banter will reach toxic levels of arseholishness.

Yeah it will be tough, the Arsecast is excellent.
I've got a bit of a commute in now, so should manage to get through them all!

Just listening to the first new FW of the season, and ehhh it's grand I suppose. Just not the same without Jimbo. He completely made the show in my opinion, surprised to see people saying they're happy he's gone. Looks like it'll be just second captains to get my football fix from now on. Used to listen to football ramble every week for years but that just got dull and repetitive

Am I the only one who feels a bit lost when people start talking about other podcasts in this thread? :o

I had never listened to a podcast in my life until the lads started up SC at the Irish Times. Was happy enough with the old radio. Now, as I said above, I have more sport podcasts than I can listen to.

Which reminds me, I haven't caught up on the last two or three SC ones. Did the cover the World Athletics Championships at all?

Yes - they had Derval O'Rourke with a decent segment on Wednesday. As always she was interesting to listen to, both with stories about Bolt in the warmup area back in the day, as well as generally being an enthusiastic fan of athletics which came across well. I hope they'll do some more segments about the Worlds, specifically about how the Irish team gets on.

Great, thanks. I'll be sure to listen tomorrow before it starts.

Looking forward to James Richardsons new podcast, had stopped listening to FW having been an avid listener for years. Got bored of Glendenning but it seemed the guests I liked were rarely on it. Sid Lowe has his own podcast and Wilson rarely appeared I found though didn't listen at all last year so maybe hes been a more regular guest since I stopped listening. Like someone else I used to listen to The Football Ramble regularly but got bored as well. I've enough with SC, new Jimbo pod and occasional Spanish Football Pod to keep me going during the season.

The TAW version of it is over an hour.

Really enjoying it so far, still have 25 minutes left. I'm a big TAW fan and it's great to hear them coming together for a show. I can imagine Ken and Neil having very, very long conversations about football. I'd say Ken will be at the TAW show tonight, he was at the one in Lafayette a few years back.

A jimbo pod, second captains, football weekly and OTB pods now. Glorious stuff!! I was running out of content a few weeks ago but safe to say every car journey will be a pleasure now.

Just listening to the Liverpool pod now. I don't particularly like football, don't care for Liverpool but it's an excellent listen. Long, detailed chats with no real goal or target in mind is where these lads excel...
