Are the gigs outdoors? On the cricket pitch at the back of trinity I assume?

Mostly indoors from what I recall, they put marquees up all over the place. It's 10+ years since I've gone so could have changed.

Edit - the ball was actually on ages ago, I assumed these concerts would be on at the same time to take advantage of the stages. So scratch that.

Apparently they are on the cricket pitch which I'm very susprised at. Middle of summer. Normally they're very reluctant to let anyone on that surface.

Will be a few interesting bowling deliveries this summer!

Going to Sunday longitude as well and just looked at the list of acts, Mumford and Sons and JP Cooper are the only two I've heard of :pac:

    Nope.

My wife is into all this sort of music from bands I've never heard of. I'll probably just follow wherever she leads (like pretty much everything else now that I think of it).

Jack White. You've never heard of The Whitestripes?

I've left the missus to go to Longitude with her mates and I'm heading to the Dropkick Murphy's.

Similar thing happens to me at music festivals. Going to Lollapalooza in Berlin and the only bands I know are Mumford and Sons and the Foo Fighters. Actually looking forward to them. Hopefully some of the other acts are good. Really wanted to go to Rockwerchter but left it too late to get tickets. They had a great line up.

I'm looking forward to Mumford and Sons but it seems they are not that liked if you read the gigs forum on here. Must be too mainstream or something, bloody gig hipsters.

Having only memories of the Trinity Ball, it's meh as a music venue but perfect as a location. Couldn't be more accessible with food and pubs all around. Don't be wearing your heels on those cobbles though, awec.

Bell X1....one of those bands that were going to make it big about 10-15 years ago but never really did. Had a lot of hype and were always just on the verge of breaking through. Something like Kodaline would be now in terms of profile. They were in that whole clique with The Frames, Damien Rice (who used be their lead singer), Mundy etc.

They're ok, I reckon. A few good songs but, as IBF says, not a band to get the blood pumping. Have a few pints, hope you get decent weather and relax.

He was the lead singer in Juniper....

Back to fighting against the urge to really vent on BellX1 and their ilk.

The stage they currently have erected looks like it'll be outdoors with small gazebos for food along each side of it.

I had a very quick shuffle through a few of their songs on spotify, it sounds pretty bland. :(

Middle of the road, inoffensive, non-threatening.

They're like the Ulster pack of the music world.

I tar all of these bands with stephen_n's description of Coldplay a few posts back, so I'm not one to be giving anything close to a rational opinion on them.

Going to be an odd atmosphere at this gig I reckon. I've never been to a gig with this sort of music.

You seem to have a thing for American post punk bands, got a feeling that one could end up like a Munster derby.

Yeah I sort of do. I'm all about the metal, grunge and punk. Post punk if you insist 😆

Doesn't have to be American though. Big fan of Rammstein.

Rammstein are closer NIN than the drop kick Murphy's I'd say. Would have liked to see Rancid but the DKM's less so. Have visions of a load of semi arthritic old men doing themselves damage trying to mosh at that one :pac::pac:

I have a varied taste mfceiling, I do like some of his songs!

Usually my taste is the likes of Guns n Roses, ACDC, Kings of Leon, Iron Maiden, Foos etc, but I do have artists like Billy Joel, Eminem, Johnny Cash, Hugh Laurie, Queen, and even Take That on my spotify! ;)

You have a better taste in music than I expected. Once you get rid of Take That and Hugh Laurie :pac:
