Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nice period of possession there but you get no sense they're going to score at any point.

Some good and hard tackling by the Chiefs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Very bright start by a number of guys. Best really getting involved. Haskell, Daly and Nowell all starting brightly.

    The MWM is looking hungry.

Laidlaw is truly awful at 9 slow and ponderous at every ruck really awful to watch.

Gareth Davies will improve this team when he comes on

Marler possibly in the bin for that

  • Posts: 0 ✭✭✭✭ Chaya Bewildered Wildflower

Idiotic from Marler. It hurts my head how stupid that was.

Looks like he's injured the guy to boot, good going Joe.

    Henderson is everywhere this morning

Marler is gonna take a card for that

    Possibly?!

    Should be a yellow.

    Stupid tackle deserved yellow

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Marler could get cited for that as well as the yellow card. That looked completely deliberate.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,525 ✭✭✭kilns

At least Marler has made an easy decision for Gatland there with regard to his test place
Henderson having a stormer so far

The discipline of the midweek side has been a huge issue in this tour. Multiple brain dead penalties conceded repeatedly.

He never seems to run either!! just walks from one ruck to the next. There was a few phases in the 22 where the ball was presented really aggressively for quick ball. And Laidlaw just was watching the ball and walking to the ruck, no urgency whhatsever. so frustrating to watch.

In fairness, he has been pretty much an ever present in the Scottish 23 over the past season.

    Great scrum

    That was poor from Daly

I barely know any of the Chiefs side today.

Stander having his best carrying game of the tour but probably too little too late at this point.

Could bode well for the later tests, though.

You'd have to this he's 5th choice at least and it'd be very surprising if only 4 back rows get capped.

Can't watch as I'm in work, but just caught a clip of Marlers late hit. I mean there's stupid and then there's that. He didn't even set himself for the "tackle" until after the ball was gone.

Looks like Haskell is giving Marler a bit of a hard time over that tackle. Judging by my test quality lip reading abilities.

Just to remind everyone. Joe Marler is a Lion ahead of Cian Healy. This is planet earth in 2017.

Henderson is having a monster game. MOTM so far. He really deserves that 19 jersey on Saturday, I feel.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Poor from Henshaw. Right decision, terrible execution. Ball should have gone wide earlier in that play too.

Unfortunately he he will not get it even if he does continue like this

Like Healy isn't prone to a brain fart either.

Problem is whoever is MOTM tonight will still be recovering on Saturday, because they'll have busted their balls tonight!

How far away is this Chiefs team from being first choice? I'm guessing at this stage no NZ test squad players are involved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,998 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Not really happening for Henshaw today, rushed out of the line earlier and missed his man, kick out on the full there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

There's brain farts, then there's what Joe Marler does. You don't just accidentally racially abuse someone or hit someone late like that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

    Good read from Nowell.

Liam Williams is having a good game at 15 too.

Miles. It's a poor selection for them. No Maori players or NZ players. Second string, essentially.

The backs they're missing alone would probably be H-Cup winning standard!

Just saying, as far as discipline goes I wouldn't consider Healy reliable either.

    Is he?

Taking on plenty of work but running into tackles and eventually as usual will start getting himself isolated.

He's still ignoring everything going on around him and refusing to release the ball. If he was distributing the odd time I'd say he is having a better game.

Also he coughed up possession carrying from the base which is a cardinal sin for an 8.

Well I would. One or two moments stand out like that kick on Cole, but in general he's reliable. And he's a better player around the pitch, very unlucky not to be there.

I'd have him on the bench for the tests.

He's been off form for months at this stage but this tour has reinvigorated him. Bodes well for next season for Ulster and Ireland.

Ah he's belting over the gain line every single time. You're being incredibly harsh on him. I don't think he has failed to make at least a couple of yards on any carry. He could have moved it on once or twice but that doesn't take away from him having a good game.

    Payne is playing well.
