Nope, it's like talking to a wall. They are simply ignorant to anything I say.

    Edit: Again, I can't quote.

Can you talk to any other neighbours around you to highlight the problem you have?

The contractor for Eir has laid the conduit down our road, and I believe they have run the cable through the conduit.

Roughly how long would it usually take to go from laid cable to Eir rocking up at the door to sell?

I was supposed to get ftth installed today but my neighbour refused to allow the technician to install the new fibre line as the telephone pole is in their garden and that the phone lines ruin their view. The technician couldn't do anything about that.

Seriously???? They can't do that? And I'm not the only one down the lane that wants ftth, its these neighbours who are blocking access to fibre.

Surely it's not your problem to fix, the onus must on Eir to move the pole to ensure others can recieve the fibre. Was the pole put down recently? Eir/ County Council put a pole up for my neighbour for ffth but the place they put it looks cat so he's going to get them to move it

Hows it going lads, interesting one just recently finished a new build in a fibre area planned for this year. The dwellings on either side of the house are in the fibre plan but my house wasnt even on the fibre map.

Any ideas on who to contact to check if i will be included? I am connected with Eir but line speed is terrible.

I think you will be covered. Eir has committed specifically to include new builds with the initial deployment. The reason why you aren't on any maps is your house isn't in the geodirectory and therefore doesn't have an Eircode yet. Because both houses either side of you will be "passed" then you will be too. So, I suspect what you need to do is figure out the quickest way to get onto the geodirectory, and get an Eircode, as that's what you will need to order a connection.

If your premises footprint is not on the map please let the Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi) know.

Hi all, I recently got ftth installed and have got the 300Mb package. When I run a wired speed test I get approx 296Mb which is fantastic.

However, I am having major problems when using wireless. I am using the f2000 router provided by eir but the wireless speeds are woeful. Now I know that wireless will never be as fast as a wired connection but when I am standing 1 meter away from the router , I am only getting approx 30Mb. But the worst thing is the ping which is often bigger than 300ms.

The situation gets even worse when I try to access the wireless network when in another room. The router is in my living room but if I try to connect wirelessly in the kitchen (through a single wall) my speed drops to only 6Mb. I lose the signal altogether approx 20m away in the bedrooms.

I'm just wondering if this is normal behaviour or should I expect speeds closer to 150/200Mb when using the wireless network. And should the signal extend further? I have no Bluetooth/baby monitors or anything to be causing interference. Nearest neightbour is 200m up the road so I doubt I am getting interference from them.

Very frustrating as I prefer to use the wireless network with the phone/tablet etc. Any suggestions?

    Which band are you using?

What kind of construction is the house? Has it been insulated?

Could also be the device you're using and are you using 2.4g or 5g.... should be still able to get 50mb+ from decent distances and ping time shouldn't be affected.

Also could be some interference, try change the router bands?

    Ordered a bundle online

    FTTH 150mb + Phone + Eir TV

Got the contract emailed next day but it gives different prices. Base price increased from 90 to 92, 5 euro discount shown online vanished. No mention of 100 euro cashback either. The price breakdown of the 18 month contract when ordering was 44 for 6 months, 49 for 6 months then 85 for 6 months. The price in the contract is 51 for 12 months, 87 for 6 months.

If you order online pay attention to the contract they send, possibly using dirty tactics to get orders. Will update if they honor the advertised price (still advertised as of now)

I couldnt order online because the only deals available online needed a landline number. So I lost out an any promotional prices.
I know the 2euro extra could be due to direct debit billing. But not sure why they took away some of the promotional price.

I know there is a cooling off period, i may be able to get a better deal later when my connection is installed?

Direct debit billing is actually a 2 euro discount. The extra 2 euro if you don't do direct debit is not shown on the contract though, says at the end price shown includes 2 euro direct debit discount if applicable. So the extra 2 euro is just because they decided to add on 2 euro. Chancers.

I guarantee they just hope the buyer is not observant and ordered without paying attention to the prices and then try to get more money off you when sending the contract. Then when you phone them and mention it they act confused like its never happened before.

How did you manage to order online actually? I couldnt see a clickable order button for fibre extreme.
So i had to order over the phone, though my area isnt live yet either, so that might have been the reason.

You have to enter your Eircode and address then go to https://www.eir.ie/bundles/

I entered the eircode here https://www.eir.ie/broadband/1000mb-fibre/ and address here https://www.eir.ie/tv/

I noticed the same the other day at the 41B terminus. The strange thing is after checking some Eircodes in the area, it still says second half of 2017 for Rolestown, but first half for Oldtown, even though the work is much further advanced in Rolestown. Hard to see the point of plans like that when they don't pay much attention to them.

Don't think they are that much behind in Oldtown TBH. They've just completed a series of underground ducts all the way from Ballyboughal to Oldtown Exchange and today completed pulling fibre to the Oldtown Exchange.

I'd guess an upgrade/rebuild of that exchange in imminent as that was likely an upgraded core connection (Oldtown is just a spur of Ballyboughal). But from the same underground runs they also have installed new ducting halfway up the side of some poles in the Keoghs Cross area so it looks like they are not that far off starting some of the overground runs as well.

Did someone here mention that Eir were giving cash back for people tied down to other contracts ?

I think I have a few months left with Vodafone and would ideally like to walk away now as I can get fibre in my area now.

Ring eir up and say you're in contract. I think it's up to €200

Just saw the first Fibre cables up on poles in my exchange area, Inch St Lawernce Limerick. Unfortunately it is not coming my direction. It is on the Greenane Road out of Caherconlish village. It is complete with splice boxes and it is serving the townlands of Templemichael, Boskil and Part of Greenane and it going out as far as where the yellow line stops on Eir's rollout map. Exciting days ahead.

There are fibre lines and splice boxes on the back road from Caherconlish to Boher and towards Grange Cross Brittas. It includes the townland of Knockanea. The installation towards Boher village has not completed yet.

When I ordered I was told it would be 65 a month and 75 after promo, but email said it's 67 and 77, I'm not on direct debit. Do I have a case to complain?

Not sure.. I definitely ordered with direct debit though and they still added 2 euro on. And ignored the 5 euro online promotion...I mean there's a big red banner around the price with a countdown clock to get your attention and then they don't even give it to you. Starting to expect alot of issues down the line with Eir if this is what they pull when just placing the order.

What is the 5 euro promotion about? is it 5 euro off per month?
I ordered on webchat and didnt hear anything about it

    Hi all,
Just read your messages now. Thank you for trying to help. So first of all here are my speed test results (see attached images):
    1) Wired Connection - 287Mb
    2) Wireless (2.4g channel) at a distance of 1 meter from the f2000 router - 39Mb
    3) Wireless (2.4g channel) at a distance of approx 10/15m through a single wall in the next room - 2Mb

As you can see, the wireless is a major issue. At a distance of 1 meter from the router I am barely getting 10% of the speed that i should be :(
And it drops off altogether when it has to go through walls into another room.

The 5g is marginally faster than 2.4g using my laptop but the problem is that my tablet and phone are Android and only support 2.4g. I have tried changing the channels on the router but that didn't make any difference.

The house is a wood frame with concrete interior walls. Yes it has been insulated in the past 5 years.

I notice that the ping/response time is much worse on my Android devices compared to my laptop. Would there be any reasons why the ping would be higher for android devices? It can take 3/4 seconds just to load up the results of a google search when using my tablet :(

It's website only, they don't give it in chat but it depends on your Eircode/Address. They seem to give different promotions to different Eircodes

Can you think of anything in the area that could be interfering with the wifi signal? If the devices you're using are old or bad quality you won't get decent wifi speeds.
