Phone just turned off for the 3rd time today at around the 50% mark! Each time i restart it it's back to around 0%. This is just crazy. I even factory reset it yesterday hoping that might help.

I've had that problem with an s6 it's common and it looks like it's not software related it's to do with the charging setup inside the phone even a battery changing wont fix it.

My main recommendation would be that you don't need one. The screen holds up really well over time with nothing on it.

If you really do want one, I found the Screenknight film one the best when I tried them when I first got the phone. You apply them wet so you don't get the bubbles and it makes it a lot easier to align.

Edit - this is the video they link you to in the instructions.

Got this after and as you said it fits like a glove pal it's perfect fit and no bubbles but one big Problem is the the screen glare and the grainy feel off it but maybe it's something I'll get used to.

Just got the s7 edge a few days ago after coming from an iPhone 7. Original plan was to get an S8 but I picked up a Samsung replacement (new) for less than half the price of an S8!

Thought it was a no brainer as I can use this and wait for the s8 price to be down next year, if I wanted it then. Finding the adjustment back to Android easy enough.

I ordered a curved glass screen protector but unfortunately it was making an awful clicking noise when I was using the phone and had to press down extra hard in some areas to hit the keys. I removed it soon after.

So I bought a x2 pack of high quality TPU ones and an otterbox symmetry so I'm hoping these will work together when they arrive in post.

Is that the general case - cover & plastic protector or else no cover & glass protector? Any good quality glass ones?

I've a very cheap clear skin cover on mine to avoid dents but to be honest I don't need it. The reason I do need it is because the phone is pretty slippy and it'll shoot out of my hand if using it with one hand

Official Samsung fast charger for €4.99 (plus €2 shipping).
You can get the plug plus USB cable for a tenner.

Anybody got recommendations for a good tempered glass screen protector for the S7? I bought one last year and it lasted about 7 months, but since then I've bought four separate ones of varying quality from poor to really poor. At €15 a time. I paid €15 for one yesterday and it's cracked today (and no, I'm not dropping them).

I'm going to go on Amazon now and buy something but does anybody have any idea what is the strongest of these screen protectors/what should I be looking for?

I don't know. The guy in the shop has non-descript packages with no recognisable brand name, and they change each time. So the one I got last summer was very good, but the rest are not of 'merchantable quality', to use the legal terminology. The one two days ago was in black packaging and definitely did say 'tempered glass', but was cracked within a day (and it wasn't dropped).

It's difficult to get a good glass protector for the edge screens. I found it very hit and miss. Take a look at the reviews on amazon, it tells the same story.

I had a zagg contour on mine but dropped it recently. I cannot justify the price again as I'll be upgrading soon. Going to get a ScreenKnight protector instead. It's not glass but reviews seem to be very good. 6 quit on amazon UK

I wish Samsung would bring out a non-edge S8 plus.

Got a security update this morning, about 140Mb I think. I was still half asleep. Any idea what this was?

Is this a trick question :)

Presumably just an Android Patch update. My Vodafone S7 is still showing Feb so one is due but I'm hoping the next update also squashes some of the Nougat bugs, namely random restarts.

Just be aware that Samsung have now started to change all their USB phone chargers so even your 2016 S7 is outdated for/won't fit the USB charger that comes with, for instance, the 2017 USB charger for the Samsung A5, as I just discovered yesterday.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,016 ✭✭✭ct5amr2ig1nfhp

    It is not just Samsung.
Most manufacturers are moving to USB-C. With every new technology, there is a transition period. This transition has been in the works for years and is finally starting to pick up pace.
The adapters are only a few Euro. Buy a handful. Problem solved.

Hi folks, I'm thinking of upgrading from the s5 to the s7 in a month or so, and have been checking prices.

Most used S7's are around the 400e mark, yet some sellers on adverts, with great feedback, are selling NEW s7's in packaging for around 420-430.

Are these phones legit do you think? Or could they be clones, or something like that?

    Thanks.

Caveat Empor and all that. Had a friend who bought a new 1 from Adverts before, all grand for a month or 2 and then it got blocked. Some people sell them, then report them stolen.

On another note, a colleague of mine is selling his S7 on adverts that he got replaced under insurance just a month ago after breaking his old one. He just bought the S8 last weekend so put his relatively new one up on Adverts, that I can attest to being genuine: https://www.adverts.ie/samsung/like-new-unlocked-samsung-galaxy-s7-with-extras/12920779
