Hi, I'm in the market for a new phone in the next 1-2 weeks and I have been looking at the Galaxy S7. Evidently there was the whole fiasco last year with phones exploding, and I'm wondering is this an ongoing issue? Quite a lot of conflicting information online.

Also wondering what the story is with bringing an S7 on a flight (short and long haul)? I understand that the S7 Note is indefinitely banned, but does this extend to include the S7 and S7 Edge?

    Thank you!

The S7 or S7 Edge were the best Android phones last year and good value to buy now that the S8 models are out now. So dont be afraid in buying one as I never heard of any issues with them on flights and I have never been questioned about my S7 when going through check in.

Started using my S7, carefully, without a case. Such a lovely phone. How long it'll last now is another issue :/

Can I friendly advise you to stick a case on it.

I have had Samsung phones since the s2 and never once broke a screen or scratched one i'm really carefull usually. I have a thin gel case on the s7 edge and it was knocked off a foot stool onto tiles and its cracked after 4 weeks.

Not the phones fault I should of put an otter box on it straight away but I loved the feel of the phone too much and now all I see is a crack :(

Anyone bring one of these to CeX at all? How much do they tend to offer, and do they take accessories?

    Edit - Edge version.

Go onto there website you get an idea.

No worries. Cex might mark it down a lot with the issues. I wouldn't send it to them but walk into a store of you were near one

Why not sell it on Donedeal, there are just as many genuine buyers there as any where else

Im the exact same at the moment with my G5, done deal or just take less in cex and be done with it.

Sold the S7 on done deal handy enough back in January though for 400 so going to put up the ad for a week and see.

What's the speaker like in this phone?

I had read that the snapdragon version was poor, what about the exynos version?

I've the exynos S7 edge and the speaker is terrible. Thought there was something wrong with it when I first started using it but compared it with others and it was the same.

Just got an update there, anyone else? 176mb. S7 edge.

On a side note I dropped the phone a few minutes ago off the table in work... lucky I've an otterbox and glass protector on. Glass protector shattered so took it off and it's all good. Blessed :)

I also find the speaker is awful. Not much better than the speaker on my old Nexus 4.
I have compared it to the speaker on the iPhone 6 and the iPhone is street's ahead. There is a much richer louder sound from the iPhone. Actually even an old Galaxy Tab 2 that we have in the house has better sound quality.

To be honest, I just want to be able to listen to youtube at night or via headphones on the bus. I think my S6 has better sound than the S7. I might have to stick with this S6 forever :pac:

I have use of the LG G6 and the sound is much better on the G6 compared to the S7 Edge speaker.

Unfortunately the Quad DAC isn't available on the G6 in Europe. Would have been nice.

My S7 Edge has developed a pink / white line along the right hand side of the phone.

It can be removed temporarily by performing RGB in *#0*# menu but it's not a great fix.

What is my best way of getting this fixed with Samsung, Do these phones come with a 2 year warranty?

i believe it comes with 2 years warranty. it happened to mine when i had it for 3 months, went to Argos (retailer i bought it from) and they sent it back to samsung and got it repaired.

They only changed the screen on mine and didnt replace the whole phone.

hope that helps. best thing to do is return it to where you bought it and they should either replace it or send for repair.

I can't get this latest security update to hit at all. There's supposedly one out for weeks, I've been notified there's one available twice but when I press the notification it says there's none.

Did you try go into settings then manually install updates?

Folks. What software security versions are you on for S7 Edge?
I am with Vodafone and still on Feb Security update where I seem to see on Sammobile that Meteor and Three have an April Security update. Also seems that there is a May update being pushed lso now.

Maybe we need to get on to Vodafone and find out what the story is
