whats the average time spent on hold ? Ive been on hold for 15 mins now - with crappy annoying music and insincere platitudes about how important my call is . Im starting to hate them now.

At least you're on hold. Getting to that point is the challenge...

I have €83.58 credit on my 3 account. Am I entitled to have that refunded?

Ok, just got off chat. No need to cancel, but will lose my €83.58 if I port to another provider.

My bill decreased & I get unlimited calls & texts which I never had before so it's a win for me. I am sim only by the way.

Same here (happy days as more for less FTW!) but as my SIM was 7 plus years old I had tethering guaranteed and i've lost that now.

As soon as three bring in packet sniffing into the billing department I'm out!

Thing is, I would pay more just to hold on to what I had...

You could knock yourself out in the Google Play Store.

Wouldn't waste it like that and I have a Windows 10 Phone. :)

I'll just keep using it until it goes. Won't take long when on the internet.

I did ask them if people who cancel will be black listed from bill pay in the future. He was unsure but said likely not, but not to quote him.....

They aren't. There is no legal reason they could do this, and spite is a quick way to go out of business.

I rang to cancel today. After 20 mins with my phone on speakerphone I finally got through.

I was told I need to give 30 days notice to cancel.

So my account wont be closed until the 10th of April ...

Everyone has to give 30 days notice. You can port out immediately but you'll be charged for the 30 days.

My wife cancelled her bill pay contract with 3 and signed up to Vodafone today but I think three are playing silly buggers as we are still waiting for the number to port over to Vodafone. It was requested at 3.30 today and the guy in the store said it should be done by 5.30 but as of now (8.25) it's still not done. Is this normal?

For some reason ports to/from Vodafone have always been more likely to glitch.
It's possible it's nothing to do with 3. Ask Vodafone to re-start the process.

Looks like it is ok by XBOX themselves http://www.xbox.com/en-IE/promotions/buy-game-credit

    :)

    It's brilliant!!!
Just bought 3 months xbox live €20 in the time since last post. :)
Not the best price, but great to be able to do it.

    From three.ie
    Porting hours are
    8am - 6pm Monday to Friday, 10am - 4pm Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays

Should go through before midday today, if not call them. I had the issues porting away from 3 after allowing the store to set up the port for me. I waited and then called customer care. There was no record of any port request on my account. The csr to be fair to him got it sorted very quickly and I was ported out within a couple of hours.

Who are the best alternatives for mobile broadband? With 3 on their 60gb per mth plan, which will now cost €43pm

So I've been dying to port off three because my new house has appalling signal. However if I go with them as prepay will that prevent me from getting new customer deals when I eventually want to upgrade? And if so, is there anyone piggybacking vodafone that I could use in the meantime instead?

The only network that piggyback on Vodafone is postfone afaik.

I think you're right Jim. Lycamobile, iD, and Tesco Mobile are all MVNOs on the old O2 network, if memory serves. 48 are owned and operated by Three directly.

48 is on the old network coverage, speeds, routing, servers are identical to tesco.

Cancel your contract and get a three PAYG phone simcard and top up by €20 every 28 days for unlimited 4g access.
Might have to pop the card into a phone to activate it at first, just send a text to yourself after you top up the account.

Just checking here, isn't the one month period based on the receipt of the notification? I received my notification by post on Friday the 10th March but apparently we only have until April 3rd to respond?

There are various services available to them to ensure we received the notification on March 1st, but they chose not to avail of them, so I assume my notice period is extended?
