Took the plunge and cancelled last night. Have until the 27th of March with existing contract so bear that in mind for anyone cancelling.

Will then go back on the €20 a month ready to go deal.

    Fantastic spot OP.

Have the Father changed over too saving a good few euros a month.

Thanks! What number did you call? 1800818021?

The 1800 number didn't work for me. I got through on 0833333333.

Weird, my top-ups last several months?!

I must be on some old plan... I don't use data on my phone as there's free wifi in the places I use my phone (office / house / rail / bar etc), so maybe that's a factor
top up last 30 days, after that your credit starts to be used until you top up again usually

Hmm.. I topped up my phone by €20 in November, and only €5 has come off my balance due to calls I've made since (I don't use my mobile for calls much, just use Whatsapp/Email using the built in Wifi)

Maybe I'm on some weird Pay as You Go contract since I signed up with Digifone in 2000, then was migrated to O2 and finally Three.

According to the Customer Notifications page they are going to change the automated update to accommodate the 28 day period.

Will this allow pre-pay users to get their unlock code for free?

I rang up yesterday to cancel my contract as I wanted to change to another network. However, I was persuaded to stay with 3 as they said they would reduce my bill to €33 a month until the end of my contract in October and I would still be eligible for an upgrade during the Summer. Does anyone know if I am still able to cancel or have I lost the right to do that now?

    Thanks so much OP
Signed a two year deal 3 weeks ago , reluctantly changed up plan from 40 to 55 as didnt have the 170 needed for htc 10 .Had a bit of buyers remorse with the thought of having to pay 55 each month (+ hate waiting 2 years for new upgrade ) .Half an hour after original post I rang up , cancelled and set up sim only .Have saved 690 and have a free htc 10 phone , plus in years time can go for the HTC Ultra or whatever . delighted .

I can't get through on the phone. Does anyone know, can I cancel in writing (if so anyone got the address?) or via e-mail or does it have to be by phone?

Just keep trying, you've 30 days from the time you are informed of the increase to cancel.

    Folks,

My daughter signed up to a 2 year contract in Nov for iPhone 6s at 45 per month (I am paying) if she cancels the contract what are her options, can she go back to pay as you go with out penalty, what is meant by SIM only any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I know very little about this subject:)

I'd imagine you would be under the new terms so no, you couldn't cancel

    Yes she can.
Sim only is similar to bill pay in the way that it's still done by Direct Debit and you have certain allowances each month. However you don't get a phone with it and you can cancel any time.

No you couldn't because you'd be signing up to the new changes.

yes, she will get to keep the phone, 3 will send her the unlock code, so it can work on any network,

and, she can go on pay as you go, for 20 per month, ( 28 days) on 3

the sim only plan, is 3's 30 day, rolling contract, for 30 per month, you get pretty much everything included. But, the bill can go above 30 per month.

if it was me, i would put her on the PAYG plan, €20 per 28 days, as, this way, there will be no surprise bill ever.

That's exactly what I thought so that's why I'm wondering why people are choosing to pay €30 a month as opposed to €20 every 28 days?

As far as I can gather the €20.00 a month won't include free calls at weekends after the change over? I don't make many calls myself but handy to have it all the time to save unneccessary surpises on the bill. Plus for me the DD is handier ☺

PS thank you OP! And thanks Three for putting on competent and straightforward staff to deal specifically with the change over

Unlimited calls on the 30 plan vs free weekend calls on the 20 plan.
Also it's 30 per month as opposed to 20 per 28 days.
Can still pay by direct debit too.
Personally those are the reasons I went for the 30 over the 20 as I'd make calls during the week a fair bit.

Because the €30/month is unlimited everything, the PAYG isn't?

Could I just go into a Three store?

You are most likely on an old type contract even if it was a recent upgrade. 2 guys here are in the same boat. No change for them in monthly bill so no "opt out" clause unfortunately. Got the daughter sorted. 10mins waiting to get through and sorted in 5 more. 5S upgrade on the €25.40 flex plan 6months ago. Unlock code requested and now moved to SIM only 30 day roller. Will get her back to 48 in the next week (€15 per month) and then port. She's happy out.

I am on the 40.66 plan.. I also have add ons for roaming in the UK. UK calls and texts ...
I would like to cancel this plan and either accept the 30 p/month sim plan or just PAYG ..
But which is best as I often visit the north and use their like home network . Are these still available on the 30 per month plan say? .Ty
