I really like the case that came in the accessory bundle I got with the phone. It's sturdy and doesn't significantly increase the size of the phone. Has survived a drop screen first onto a tiled floor off a table which is what killed my last phone, so I'm happy.

The one bad thing is, the OP3 is such a nice phone with the metal back that I'd love to just not have a case on it at all...

Thats why I got this one http://ie.mobilefun.com/59930-olixar-flexishield-oneplus-3t-3-gel-case-100-clear.htm I haven't tried the dropping it off the table trick but it makes it easier to hold.

I'm thinking of switching from Meteor to Three, is there any APN settings I will need to change? And is the 4g signal any good in Dublin (City Centre/Swords Area)

I've heard bad things about it's coverage in some areas of the Country & some areas in Dublin but wanted to know how well it works with this phone.

    TIA.

I've both meteor and three sims in phone now and threes 4g is way worse.
Just ran speed test on both of them there
    Three 1.25Mbps
    Meteor 26.01Mbps

Three is only good because it's unlimited.
I'm 3.5km from the city centre.

Three are a disaster. Internet in general is dreadful never mind looking for 4G. I was never as glad to leave a provider. I'm with VF now and it's brilliant.

Thanks for this lads, glad I asked now, I was thinking of switching because I very rarely use calls or texts so the 4g was the only thing I was concerned about, I was hoping to just use WhatsApp for messaging and use the credit to buy game credit from hmvgamecredit.com & to buy apps on the play store since meteor is the only carrier that you can't do this with 3 seemed to be the best option but i guess not.

I have been looking at the 3 and now the 3T for a while. I love the idea of the dual sim (personal and work) but is it possible to have two versions of WhatsApp or other apps that link to the phone number?

Also is it possible to have two user accounts or profiles? Thank you.

I use this app so I can have an extra WhatsApp on my phone. Works well.

Dunno about two users as i don't need it.

I'd suggest trying it out anyway Dan.
In Limerick I get brilliant speeds out of 4g, I never connect to wifi, as most wifi is slower than the 4g.

Ran a speedtest there and got 29.5 down 9.5 up.
But numbers mean balls all to you, unless you can test it where you live/work and see how the signal is personally. Better still, ask neighbours/colleagues on 3 what they think of the service. If it's bad, then don't do it, nothing worrse than patchy internet on the phone :)

I'll get a 3 SIM and try it out for a month in the second SIM slot, at least if I don't like the service I can buy something out of the credit 😛
And I've asked my colleagues in work and they all said it's fine for them but they aren't the type to care too much about Load times or patchy reception on their sub €150 phones 😛 so I figured this would be the best place to find out.
Thanks for the replies though lads.

I have a OP3 with a Three.ie sim in slot one and a Vodafone sim in slot 2 and I get fairly decent speeeds on 4G everywhere I go.
Here's a screenshot of the speed test I did this morning in Limerick...

Not sure on the OnePlus - on my OnePlus One I just used another app called Disa together with the official WhatsApp app to have two accounts.

On the new Xiaomi phones they have added a feature called mirror apps where any app can be installed twice - incredibly useful and we may see it on other phones in the future

I'm using Parallel Space. Bit of a battery hog but have it in speed mode to reduce consumption

Anyone have any issues when using earphones to listen to music? Phone randomly keeps thinking I've plugged in a mic and pauses the music expecting me to say something! I reckon it might my earphones though, dodgy cable or something.

Yeah I get that when I use cheap or damaged headphones. Happened on my S5 too. I'd recommend Xiaomi dual Hybrids for between 15-20 online if you're in the market for some. Better than anything I ever spent 60+ on in Ireland. They've lasted longer than any I've had in the past too. I have another set on the way as a backup if these break because I'd hate to pay Irish prices for an inferior set while waiting on a Chinese delivery.

And likely to be delays getting one here I'd assume? I'd need it for the end of July.

I managed to pick up the 3 in day or so after launch. In fact, I got mine two days before almost everyone for some odd reason. (not that it makes any odds really)

Id wait for the 4, if I was an Atomic Pineapple! (To get either the 3t cheaper or the shiny 4)

I'm having an issue with my OnePlus 3 whereby it won't send a WhatsApp voice message on mobile data and wont process a voice enquiry in the Google app among other quirks - any ideas?

I'm on the Three network in case that's significant.

    Hi all
    Moved from a iPhone 6 to a 3t and I am loving it !!
Quick question , I'm on three (business contract) which apparently still uses the old 02 data settings.
My 4g only half works, it will load webpages , messages but won't download photos , apps , or anything data hungry.
3 are next to useless , gave me a new SIM card which didn't work and blamed the handset.
The shop assistant put his three SIM in and it worked fine so it's clearly a network issue
Has anyone else had such a issue ?

Did you get one for it yet? Always liked the look of this Lezyne one but it's too small for the OnePlus3. Last few phones have been waterproof Sonys so haven't needed a case. Current one isn't waterprrof anymore since I smashed the back on it so I've been keeping in a ziplock bag when cycling. Still haven't decided what phone to get to replace it would prefer another waterproof one but I may be taking my wife's OnePlus3 as there is little to match it for spec for the price.

She's not totally happy with she misses the timed profiles on Sony androids and one thing I noticed the other day there is no option for ICE contacts on the lock screen which I would prefer have when out cycling.

Funny thing happening recently. I'm an Orange Spain customer and am currently in Fuerteventura. This phone has never been based in Dublin and my home in Maps is set correctly to Barcelona. GPS on maps shows me where I am in Fuerteventura but every other geo location service is flashing up as Dublin - I keep getting the indoor map of Dublin airport notification, when I go into air bnb it offers me places nearby in Dublin etc. Any ideas?

EDIT: now Google maps is showing me as in Dublin airport (after trying to calibrate compass)

EDIT 2: it's now showing me correctly where I am in Fuerteventura.

EDIT 3: Now I'm back in ****ing Dublin airport!

Also, was anyone else asked to sign into their Google account again out of nowhere yesterday?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,662 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

Sounds like someone in Dublin is signed into your Google account to me!

Go to google.com/dashboard and make sure that you are the only one logged ito the account.

I had this for a while a few days ago, using Nova launcher. I was also getting terrible lag throughout the whole OS, seemingly at random, where only a reboot would fix it. Happened a couple of times over about 5 days - was going to do a factory reset this weekend but I have had no reoccurrence of either the home screen or lag issues for days now so maybe it sorted itself out.
I uninstalled a number of apps the other day so maybe it was one of them that was causing it....

In case anyone else has had a similar issue to the above, I think I found the culprit - having LastPass enabled as an Accessibility service. Think there may be a bug affecting the Accessibility services in general, so keep them all turned off if you can.
Automatic filling of username/passwords no longer works for LastPass, but the OS is back to it's blistering self.
