    Woohoo!!

That €25 per year sub isn't looking so bad now!
I already have a load of stuff on my systems.

The implication being that when, say, Metroid Prime Trilogy gets released for the Switch, I'll be able to redownload it for free.... hopefully....

i wouldnt read too much into that line for the moment it could simply mean that if you get another switch you can re download your games. yes it could mean that games bought on the wii u or 3ds, vc ones i cant imagine it will include 3ds or wii u games, but its hard to know til nintendo say it themselves clearing it up

Could you not do that already with WiiU? Mine developed a glitch sometime last year and I had to wipe the machine and set it up again. Did that and was able to re-download all of the games I had previously purchased on the e-shop ( took ages, but was free). Wasn't a totally different machine though (that may be what they are getting at)

That would be great. I've MP Trilogy, DK and Mario Galaxy from Wii VC.

I wonder is there any chance the improvements to the system can be retconned into the WiiU and 3DS - there's precedent given how late NNID was to the party...

@EDit - You could move your NNID to another console, but it required a call to support and filling out a form and waiting etc etc.

It's currently tied to the device. Resetting the device won't affect that. If your WiiU had fecked up completely and you had bought another one you wouldn't be able to redownload your games to the new WiiU.

it's definitely not a dev kit. dev kits have black joy cons and 64gb of space.

Yeah you're right! I just watched the unboxing there. Defo retail system, lucky sod.

This may be getting way ahead of myself, but if they are finally making all previous VC purchases carry over, then I really hope there is a system for transferring save data as well! Don't really want to start Metroid Prime all over again.

Actually, that's not true. I do. But the option to continue would be sweet!

Wow that was an awesome share, Id like this game but not as a 35stg!!!
I played it and its good for a laugh, but not outright buy, but having it digitally means its always there to demo it to others that dont have a Switch.

Anyone else getting an internal error with 1-2 Switch?

*Edit* Gone now, lucky me "This item is only available in UK, we've noticed you're shopping from the UK"

If someone could nab a few of those 1-2 Switch download codes, I'd gladly pay the £1.99/2.50e for one (or more, so it's worth the persons time).

    [EDIT]: never mind, it's gone.

I just rang GameStop in Dundrum there to confirm that my pre order was guaranteed for launch, and the guy I was chatting to said it was, so I'm guessing the person in the other GameStop was misinformed.

was just in Smyths - they have the inlays for Zelda Wii U and Switch on the desk, waiting to be put into a case... security guard gave me an "On yer bike!" stare when I reached out to touch 'em :D
I was only going to steal 1! Of each!

Probably a silly question... but I never had a Wii U, I did have an original Wii though and I had bought a few NES and SNES games on the store, am I entitled to them on Switch, or is it just Wii U store games?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

The Wii didn't use the new account system, Nintendo Network ID (NNID), so I'd suggest hopping onto the Nintendo website and linking your account that you used with the Wii to a new NNID, just in case.

Its not even known if wii u games will transfer but i highly doubt wii games will even if wii u do

Just noticed there today that the release date for the zelda carry case has been changed to 3rd of March. Initially it was a week or two after the switch so I thought I'd have to wait a bit before getting it. This is great :D

Good news from the Switch leak on neogaf. eshop purchases are now tied to your Nintendo account! Where it applies retroactively is up to Nintendo to inform us or we just wait and see...

I want to be able change my NNID name. I had SLIGEACH on my first Wii U, then bought a second and created a new NNID, SLIGEACH_EIRE. It's a bit of a mess, I asked Nintendo if I could swap names or transfer one account onto another Wii U. That wasn't possible. I was able to change my e-mail address over that was tied to it, however, they could do that. I still don't fully understand it.

See the vast majority of my purchases have now been made on the second Wii U. I want my original NNID name though. I think it's silly that some name you may have choosen on a whim is your name forever.

Amazon aren't honouring those £1.99 1-2 Switch Orders, Pricing error

Just Pause: How difficult has it been to develop for the Switch?

Frozenbyte: It has been a pleasure to work with the Switch due to how nicely everything has been thought out from a developer perspective. Our programmers were very happy with it.

Just Pause: What most excited the team about the Switch?

Frozenbyte: It’s something different, being a hybrid. We always love to try new tech. Having a full-fledged gaming console and a portable in one device opens up intriguing possibilities for developers.

Many of us have already pre-ordered the Switch for ourselves, so there’s definitely lots of excitement in the air!

Anybody else not getting a definitive price from Gamestop for the Switch? Have paid off 4th installment today and I asked them, just to confirm, how much was left and they said they couldn't because they haven't got a confirmed price yet. Hopefully Gamestop don't do a Gamestop and tack on more to the price.

In fairness, I remember them saying the same things about Wii U. They're a very talented indie developer. The 2 Trine's on Wii U were great. Wonder if they'll port them over in a trilogy and include the last one.
George Reith: Some developers have been critical of the Wii U’s slow CPU. Did you have any trouble porting Trine 2 to Wii U because of this?

None whatsoever. The whole architecture is running very well and we were able to ramp the T2 art to a higher degree than with the other consoles. So for porting no issues at all and there is a nice base for future original development too. Maybe some were looking for a larger leap in terms of pure power, but in the end I believe most developers will be quite comfortable with the system.
