You don't need to get this day one.*

    *Obviously incorrect.

Deep dip in finances mean I've had to cancel my preorder, looking more like Christmas for me now :(

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Reminder that 32 gigabytes = 29.802 gibibytes which is the measure of data storage marketing teams love.

Two prong plug looks American type rather than European lucky ducker.

Oh and nice to see it makes that 'click' sound on startup.

Fingers crossed there's a mute option for that and all the keypress sounds. Annoying as hell it is. :D

I've preordered a switch from Gamestop online for the Stephens Green shop. I got a call yesterday from one of the staff yesterday to say preorders for accessories was closing and basically trying to sell me more stuff. So I asked did my preorder of the switch guarantee me one on launch day. They basically said whoever comes into the shop to buy a switch gets one if they have stock, doesn't matter if it was preordered or not. Kind of makes preordering pointless. They said to come in as early as possible to have the best chance of getting one.

Maybe I've misunderstood them, but does anyone know if this is the case in Gamestop?

Surely that can't be right? Particularly as some people would have paid off some or all of the balance already?

It doesn't sound right to me, unless they were specifically referring to online orders.

Unless Gamestop gonna Gamestop and make all pre orders from a certain point on a waiting list for the second batch of stock without mentioning it to anyone till launch day.

cant be right. the one who called me said they would keep mine for 48 hours. maybe they meant the excess ones that are not preordered? i would almost guarantee that the staff member is probably after misunderstanding something

Yeah that was my thinking as well. Maybe I got a particularly clueless member of staff and they haven't done the preorder course yet!

Hey, its nearly 10am! So its less than 2 weeks! Specially if you were going to a midnight launch.

Be that as it may, if the same guy is working the desk at the midnight launch and his misunderstanding isn't straightened out, you're potentially looking at preordered, paid-off switches being sold to guys who just walked in off the street, curious. It's not going to be much comfort that you're right and he's wrong if you're waiting for the next batch because of his mistake.... make an anonymous call to Gamestop HQ! Rat him out and have them "straighten him out" in the stock-room, old school!

lol while i would feel bad i would feel worse if i didnt get my switch, though i would have to believe if gamestop messed up like that they would have to seriously compensate you. maybe the staffers months salary in games :P

there are bigger boxes there. though there can be a bit of a wait for those boxes if the PM is a busy one as there are so few (maybe 6 big boxes).

I think it's a dev kit. He went annon so he wouldn't be caught over the non disclosure contract yoke. Otherwise there would be more than one early release of the Switch.

At gamestop prices, you would still owe them money

Doesn't the Dev kit have 64GB of memory as opposed to the 32GB retail version?

Not sure it is a dev kit, but hasn't done a great job of going anon though..

PSA from your friendly neighborhood network security guy:
Right now I could tell you within a hundred yards where this was taken right now, and could find the house from the street.
How? A number of the WiFi networks listed are unique, and there are public databases.
If you don't want people to find you, DON'T POST WIFI SCANS!

Plus you can see most of his head in the reflection :pac:

it would do yeah as the devs would be loading the game onto the system directly and prior to it being refactored and sounds/images compressed to get the memory down

it's definitely not a dev kit. dev kits have black joy cons and 64gb of space.

Yup, and it has matt black joy-cons, rather than grey.

    Step in the right direction
One of the common complaints about making digital purchases from the eShop on the Wii U or the 3DS is that your games are tied to your hardware rather than your Nintendo Account in the cloud. So unlike Steam, PlayStation or Xbox, you cannot recover your purchases if your device gets stolen or damaged.
In many cases you might just want to wipe a 3DS to trade it in for a fancy limited edition, but at present you would need to have both devices in your possession to transfer your purchases from one unit to another before the old one could be wiped.
We've recently seen footage of the Nintendo Switch menus from a NeoGAF user who got his device earlier than expected. In this video many eagle-eyed people spotted the following statement in the Switch user interface:
For those who have trouble reading the screen capture, here's what it says:
Your Nintendo Account contains your Nintendo eShop purchase history and current balance. By re-linking your Nintendo Account after initializing the console, it will be possible to redownload any software or DLC purchased using that account. (Software that has been discontinued may not be available for redownload in some cases.)
